[QUOTE="mischa_barton"]I can agree with that but modern warfare is amazing, the infinity ward games, cod, cod2, cod4, and modern warfare 2. waw and cod 3 arent nearly as good. so I only consider it getting them out ever 2 years.-Halftime-

Word. All the IW COD games have been amazing. COD2 and COD4 are both amazing FPS. I don't think WAW is bad, but that game has SERIOUS balance issues with the multiplayer, whearas I've had MW since it was released and I still play it pretty regularly. WAW is flawed as hell.

i play cod4 like it's my job. I'm only on like the 7th prestige though.

lol at this dude still preaching to the choir.

Just to be "sensible" for you...

The 360 controller is all-around more effective for shooters. The layout is much more friendly and accessible. PS3 controllers aren't terrible for shooters, but they don't compare. Clicking down on the R for shooting just feels odd and the button is too small for you to really determine whether or not your're letting it all out, just letting out a burst or just a single shot. The bigger 360 trigger has more room for you to feel how much of a push you need to let out a certain amount of ammo.

Besides that, the material it is made of makes your hands sweat much less than the material that PS3 controllers are made of. The glossy face of the PS3 controller can easily get slippery and be annoying to grasp well. Also, the 360 controller is more round and smooth, making it more comfortable to hold for long periods of time. The PS3 controller is blocky and can feel dug into your hands, especially on the ring finger joint, after a while.

360 has MUCH better exclusives out... I honestly don't see where the competition is.

  • Ninja Gaiden 2
  • Halo 3
  • Fable 2
  • GOW 1 and 2
  • Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
  • Crackdown
  • Dead Rising
  • Halo Wars
  • Kameo
  • PD Zero
  • LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 2
  • Lost Odyssey
  • DOA 4
  • Ninja Blade
  • Both Viva Pinantas
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope

That is just from brainstorming and looking into my game cabinet. I could probably dig out a ton of other good ones. But on top of that longer, more quality filled list, there is DLC. The GTA 4 DlC, the fallout dlc, the oblivion dlc, the call of duty dlc, the halo dlc, and on and on. There is TONS of it for major games which are very good. And the PS3 has not seen any of it. Hell, Shivering Isles is a game on its own so you can add it to the list of 360 exclusives. Then add in the Broken Steel, Pitt, and Anchorage hours together and you have another 1-2 games on their own. So add those in. Then add in the fact that we have many more maps for our primary shooters. You honestly think PS3 is better? You can't play ANY of that awesome DLC, we have better and MORE exclusives and just look at this....

  • Alan Wake
  • Halo Reach
  • The new MGS title
  • CrackDown 2
  • ME 2
  • Thief 4
  • Halo3: ODST
  • The Milo thing

Those are all exclusives that we are getting... any that's just off the top of my head. There are probably a good 5-6 more good ones that have been announced.

Beyond games and controllers... the 360 offers much, much more. Netflix, Facebook and Twitter soon, and Natal is coming up. That is epic. Simply epic. No controller, just movement. For EVERYTHING on the 360. That is simply amazing. How can the PS3 even compare to that? With Blu-ray discs? Yeah right. Have you not seen what Natal can do? Video calls, game playing, menu scrolling. The list goes on. Plus, we will be getting this new movie service that requires no download and 360 Live is extending to farther parts of the world. The PS3 does NOT compete.

I could make the same argument about games, software/technology used/future promise, and the controller for the Wii as well. But I think you know how it would look... Wii having better and more exclusives, having more promising ones, having better tech and use of it, and a more accessible, easy to use controller.

Wii and 360 are all around superior to that over-priced sony box.

BTW, does ANYONE have a DS here? Mine is coming on the 19th, and I have some questions about things and would like to play against some of you online if you have it. It is coming with GTA: Chinatown Wars, Pokemon Platinum and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I'll play anyone who has the first two in multiplayer as soon as I get it hooked up on my wireless.

About the multi, is it free or do you have to pay like Xbox Live? How would I go about getting my DS on my wireless connection at home if it is secured? I'm getting the DSi, so does anyone know how the store works? How much minigames are worth and how much applications or whatever else you can download are worth?

Any help is appreciated.

I have Civilization Revolution for the DS and am down to play that online. I have a couple other DS games, and can probably play them online too, but I don't really care about them in comparison to CR. lol; that's probably the first game I've ever bought twice, much less three times (initially bought it for the 360, and then later bought two copies of it for the DS so I could play multiplayer against my bro).

Edit: Online multiplayer is free. I dunno about secure connections, but from what I remember from the manual I think it just asks you to enter the code like you would connecting any other device to the network.

That's your opinion and that's fine by me if you feel that way. Personally my hands don't sweat when I play so I don't have that problem. I find the PS3 controller to be very comfortable because I like my sticks to be in line with each other.

360 has MUCH better exclusives out... I honestly don't see where the competition is.

This is your opinion. Also that is a short list compared to what I listed.

  • Ninja Gaiden 2 This game is no longer exclusive. NGS2 is coming out for PS3.
  • Halo 3
  • Fable 2
  • GOW 1 and 2
  • Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
  • Crackdown
  • Dead Rising
  • Halo Wars
  • Kameo
  • PD Zero
  • LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 2
  • Lost Odyssey
  • DOA 4
  • Ninja Blade
  • Both Viva Pinantas
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope

On this list there are maybe 4 games that interest me. Notice even though I feel this way unlike you, I don't come on here and say OMG PS3 is da best. LOL It's MUCH better!

I just enjoy my system of choice and leave it at that. I have no need to come on here and say OMG PS3 is da BEST. You can't play ANY of that awesome DLC, we have better and MORE exclusives and just look at this....Once again this is your opinion. I could list the exclusives coming to PS3 but I don't feel like I need to because the list is too long. Also personally I am not into buying DLC because I feel like it is just a way for publishers to sucker us gamers in for money though some of it is legit.

  • Alan Wake
  • Halo Reach
  • The new MGS title This is coming out for the PS3 and PC. Also it is a spinoff. The true sequel is MGS: Peace Walker for PSP as Hideo Kojima said himself.
  • CrackDown 2
  • ME 2 This is one exclusive I do love for 360, but the good thing about that is just about 360 exclusive comes out for PC. Just like I played ME for PC, I will do the same for this one.
  • Thief 4
  • Halo3: ODST
  • The Milo thing

Beyond games and controllers... the 360 offers much, much more. Netflix, Facebook and Twitter soon All this can be done from the PS3 internet browser. In my case it runs really fast because I have really good internet., and Natal On this, it looked interesting, but I not sold on the concept yet because I would rather wait and see how they implement it into gameplay. Also I don't think the tech has gone out to devs yet so it must not be that far along.(i could be wrong on this so don't hold me to it.) The PS3 wand thing looked very precise as it was 1 to 1 and has already been released to devs. Personally I could care less because motion controls don't interest me much.is coming up. That is epic. Simply epic. No controller, just movement. For EVERYTHING on the 360. That is simply amazing. How can the PS3 even compare to that? Plus, we will be getting this new movie service that requires no download and 360 Live is extending to farther parts of the world I believe PS3 has already done this. The PS3 does NOT compete. This whole statement is just pure fanboyism. You say this all like it is fact. I will not comment on the Wii because I prefer not to put down other consoles because unlike you that is not my thing. If by doing this it helps you justify your reasoning for owning your 360 then so be it, but don't try to call me out with bias baseless opinions that have no base. Notice not once did I put down or degrade another console without using sarcasm to showcase what you do.

cmpepper23

I think my list actually includes more titles, because there are some bullet points which hold 2 games instead of 1. Anyway, all of those games are better than what you listed. R1 and R2 are great, and I enjoyed Heavnly Sword for the few hours that I played it, but besides that, the games are mostly meh. Excluding MGS4 and a few others... I can't comment on them because I haven't really played them. I'm sure MGS4 is great in its entirety though.

And btw, I could have mentioned a few more (the other DOAs and some other games, if I really thought on it.

I love how you said nothing relevant about what the DLC contributes btw. Thanks for assuring me that I was entirely on point!

Ok, your hands are fine with it. But to most gamers, the 360 controller is more suitable and comfortable. (I think there was actually a massive thread on that in another forum, and a small one here. Both had mostly posts that indicated that 360's was better). You may prefer it, but it proves to be better to a wide audience, which would make it superior.

There is no point in crying about how this is your opinion. What I'm saying is obviously my opinion, but of course I will state it as fact. If you are proving something, you state what you believe as it is the reality of the matter or truth. Saying it is your opinion is worthless, because that is already evident and should be obvious to who you're talking with. I'm not being a fanboy at all, the 360 is the better system and I just proved it to you ^. Little of what you said asserted anything that would prove me wrong. You simply said that you preferred the PS3 in certain areas, but that means nothing in an argument. The majority of people will find the 360 to a better piece of technology and gaming console. The Xbox Live community count and the 360/360 game sales indicate this. It's great that the PS3 is more up your alley, but we are talking about which is better, not which one you prefer. And...

  •  The 360 has more, and more popular exclusives than the PS3.
  • The 360 hosts better technology/technological innovation and development than the PS3.
  • The 360 has a more promising future, both tech and game wise, than the PS3.
  • The 360 has a more suitable and accessible controller than the PS3 (no blocky edges that dig into your hand, and a superior material).
  • The 360 is all around more accessible, as far as the menu goes, and will soon offer more accessible viewing of movies, facebook and twitter, than the PS3.
  • The 360 is pushing further in the gaming world than the PS3 (making a completely new control scheme for games, instead of simply immitating what the Wii started and brought to the table - Natal vs a motion wand).
  • The 360 has a larger and more interactive multiplayer system than the PS3 (Live is more popular and more active than PSN).
So... the 360 > PS3. It's cool if you prefer the PS3, but the 360 is a superior piece of technology and gaming console.

And btw, Natal has been sent to developers.

Now stop blabbing about opinion and just leave it. The 360 just offers more.

And you do NOT want me to start with the Wii. That has exclusives/good exclusives for DAYS. And a future lineup that is packed with good titles. And the tech is miles ahead of the 360. At least with the controller. Even Wii online is probably a fail deal more popular and used than PSN.  And hell, even the DS probably has more good titles than the PS3... (judging by critics and reviews)

  • Advanced Wars: Dual Strike
  • New Super Mario bros
  • Yoshi's Island
  • All 3 pokemon games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum)
  • Mario Kart DS
  • The World Ends with you
  • Partners in Time
  • Animal Crossing
  • FF12: RK
  • Zelda: PH
  • GTA: Chinatown wars
  • Nitendogs
  • FF4
  • FF3
  • Big Bang Mini
  • Chrono Trigger..

The list goes on for a LONG time. Plus they have tons of new good games coming out... the new Zelda, the new Mario and Luigi, the new KH and so on.

Fanboyism in the Hip-Hop union? Wut?

The 360 and PS3 are about the same and it all comes down to preferences really. I play 360's best games on my PC and I really don't care about it's exclusives except for a few like BK: Nuts and Bolts and the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction, but god knows that will most likely come on the PC also.

Why is Elpooz bringing up the Wii and DS? That's so irrelevant. Even though the Wii and DS have much better than libraries than both.

Yes, the two "have much better libraries than both [the 360 and PS3]" but are irrelevant in a discussion about video game consoles :|. Way to make sense.

They were brought up because I started by saying that both the Wii and 360 were better than PS3 and that Nintendo and MS were far ahead of Sony.

DS was brought in just to underline how inferior the PS3 catalogue is. By saying that a handheld has a better one than a console really says something about the poor quality of the console's games.

All in all though, PS3 isn't that bad I guess. It's an ok system with some good games. 360 and Wii are just very good consoles, so it's hard for the PS3 to compete.

Well since we have the 360 and PS3 fanboys arguing I might as well let my fanboy-ism out:

The Sony conference was best in my opinion. It did a better job at delivering straight-up exclusives, the great majority of 360 titles are also heading to the PC. I've never owned a playstation console before, so I might end up buying a PS3 this fall if I can come up with the cash. Uncharted 2 looked too godly

@elpoos

That's a reasonable assessment alhough majority doesn't make something superior. Just because in the states more people support the 360, it doesn't mean it is superior in anything other than sales. Technically they are about the same when it comes to raw power. The 360 might have a slight edge in graphics card, but the PS3 makes up for it with the cell and bluray disc.

To bring the Wii into this discussion is crazy. The Wii is not the level of either of the 2 aforementioned consoles. The game catalogue is not very good and since you like majorities, many people have made threads about why the Wii doesn't have many good games. I bought one to play Metroid and ended up getting SM: Galaxy. After that I had no use for it and gave it to my lil bro. There are some really good exclusives, but not many. Wii Fit isn't the type of game I'm into and other than it seems like every game is just a set minigames. Wii is for the casual gamer who doesn't expect much. I thought this was a discussion about quality and not popularity. A lot of people like Hanah Montana and the Jonas Bros, but it doesn't make them top quality or superior to other artists.

PSN also has quite a bit of users. I believe something in the range of 20 million. It probably isn't as active as Live, but one must remember that PSN started with the launch of he PS3 while Live has been around since the original XBox. For a new service, it is doing rather well and growing at a faster rate.

The PS3 has a lot more potential for developers making games. Look at Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, MGS4, and Uncharted 2 to name a few for instance. Popularity and sales don't make something superior or of higher quality. It just means they are more successful at the moment. Also I am almost positive if you line uop exclusives released and unreleased, the PS3 has more. There would also be more higher rated ones compared to 360 or Wii. They may not be as popular or sell as much, but they are definitely of the same quality and some even better. Most of the good 360 exclusives all make their way to PC. PS3 and Wii both offer quality exclusives that can only be played on their respective consoles. Also I only call you fanboy because you bash other systems. I am a Sony fan but I don't go out of my way to bash other systems but rather state why I like my system.

I guess by your logic this settles the question of best rapper ever. It has to be Tupac, because he sold the most albums and is the most popular rapper to ever do it.

Well since we have the 360 and PS3 fanboys arguing I might as well let my fanboy-ism out:

GOTY, no doubt 8)

At first I was like meh when I heard about this... but then when I saw the trailer I was very intrigued... and now that I think about all the songs I hate/never played on Rock Band, this will be AWESOME.

I'm not even going to begin on what is false up there ^.

But I will say that I do not believe sales = best in video game. The 360 superiority is also based on reviews and average review scores for its games, which are usually higher than PS3 scores. But, like I said, I'm not going to waste time bringing out facts and trying to prove this. If you want to think the PS3 is better, then cool, but I disagree and there is much substance my disagreement.

BTW, Nas is the GOAT in my eyes and he hasn't even sold 20 million, so no, that is not my logic on the "best rapper ever." What defines video games is different than what defines music. Plus, I was not judging the 360's superiority strictly on sales and popularity.

360 and Wii > PS3. If you don't agree, cool! This topic is tired and I'm not too interested in it anymore. bye bye

About Rock Band: Beatles... It looks like it will be average, like most games of its kind. I'm probably only going to end up playing it at a friends house or something...

Anyooooone else with a DSi or DS that can play online/tell me about some games to get/inform me about anything else?

I will say something about the ps3, if it had came out the same time as the 360 with the same quality it had at it's 2006 release date. I would have to say it's easily the winner, but by the time the ps3 was out, the 360 had a solid community, was putting out true next gen quality games. PS3 may have caughten up by now, but they lost a lot releasing later. The 360 is really releasing trash for exclusives this year, other than Forza 3, they are slipping. The 360 is going to have to have a huge 2010 to keep the lead over the real consoles. The Wii is mainstream garbage, yeah it has about 4 quality games, and a handful of others that are fun to play for about 30 minutes, it's kinda sad to see gaming go that direction.

I bet elpooz thinks that a 360 controller is better than Mouse+Keyboard for FPS games

Honestly, I've never really played FPSs on comps. I played CS when I was a kid pretty often, but that was a while a go. I played Crisis a little while ago as well, and that was good fun, but I only sat down with it for about 3 hours total. I've always been a console person, so naturally the 360 controller works better for me. I've been playing with controllers since I was like 4 or 5, and I play video games basically every day, and have since that age. So the keyboard and mouse do feel a little awkward for me, and yeah I would prefer the 360 controller. Maybe if I learned to use the other well and wasn't so jittery with it, I would like it more. But I was pretty much born with a controller in my hand and have used a keyboard/mouse for shooters very rarely, so of course I'm going to prefer the controller and think its better.

Scribblenauts looks dooope. I can't wait for it to drop so I can get it for the DSi I will have soon.

Who here has played Fight Night Round 2? I just hooked up my old xbox to play it today (it kept freezing on the 360). This is the best Fight Night game imo. 3 was more realistic but sacrificed the fun that made 2 as good as it is. I just recreated Jimmy Braddock (it's just plain stupid that they don't have him already) and am playing through the career mode.  Undefeated on hard and have only been dropped 4 times. I'm surprised I'm still good enough to even turn on hard mode...

I do. I'm more than willing to help you out elpooz with your questions. I mostly use my DS to play RPGs though so I don't play online much and plrobably can't help you out there. I did play MarioKart online for a little while, but that's it. Ask away.

How easy is it to find games online? Did it take you a while to get a match when you played Mario Kart?

In general, what games are must haves for it? I've heard a lot of good things about Advanced Wars: Dual Strike and a few other titles but they don't seem like they'd be very fun :?.

And other dude, I know tons of adults who have a DS. 5 of the marines that live at the embassy here play it like crazy on their downtime. kthxbai

My favorite so far is FFIV. It's long around 40 hours or so, the battle system is fun and it's a great RPG to start out with. It's my favorite FF game. For Dragon Quest, I would go with 5. I played 4 awhile back, and it just seemed average. It's not a game I would suggest playing unless you are a big fan of everything Dragon Quest. DQ5 I have yet to play, but I have heard it is much better than 4 in every way. Dragon Quest 9 is the main reason I bought a DS, and it is finally going to  be released around July I think.

Other Good RPGs:

Chrono Trigger - this is really fun especially if like me you never played it on SNES

The World Ends With You - It's different but in a great way. One of the best.

FFXII: Revenant Wings - IMO this is the 2nd best FF game for the DS next to 4.

FFIII - It's just another Final Fantasy game and like DQ 4 it is average compared to others in it's series.

I played Pokemon Pearl and loved it so I am almost sure you'll like platinum because it's Pearl and Diamond combined. I have yet to play this, but Sonic Chonicles: The Dark Brotherhood looks good. I have some friends who played and really liked it. It's made by BioWare(ME, KOTOR) so that means it should be fun. Golden Sun DS got announced this E3 and should be amazing. The Golden Sun series is my favorite RPG series. If you plan playing a lot of RPGs, I would suggest getting a DS rather than a DSi so you could still play Gameboy Advance games. A lot of the RPGs I play on my DS are advance games like the Golden Sun and Fire Emblem series.

It's been awhile since I played online, but I had no problem connecting and finding games on Mario Kart. It didn't take much time at all...maybe a minute. It's one of the most popular DS games so I imagine there are still plenty of people playing it online.

Must Have Games:

GTA: Chinatown Wars

Ace Attorney games - You should probably try this out first to see if it's your kind of game but most people I know love them.

Advanced Wars: DS - Game is very fun but it might be somewhat hard to find.

Dragon Ball Origin - This is a must have if you watched the show growing up. It's still fun either way.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village - It's a really fun puzzle game with an interesting mystery.

Other Notables:

Metroid Prime: Hunters, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, New Super Mario Bros(really fun but short)

Alright I'll check out FF4 and DQ 5 first. I'll probably end up getting every RPG on the system, but I can't buy them all at once. I'm pretty damn sure I will love Platinum... I played all the other pokemon games for a good 3-4 months before getting tired of them.  I was thinking of CT because I really liked the original and it looks really good graphically on the DS. I don't have any of my old GBA games, so I won't be playing those. The only ones I really liked were the Golden Suns and Pokemon ones anyway, and I've played those to death. I doubt I could get much more out of them.

The NG game has been calling out to me for a while... Same with Metroid, but I'm kinda iffy on how those controls will work. For both games. I already get sloppy while playing NG on my 360 (both 1 and 2) so I can only imagine how terribly I would set up combos on the DS. And I don't quite get how the Metroid controls work. Do you push down on the stylus and move it in directions to turn, and then use the D-pad to go up, down, right, and left? Or does it work in some other way?

I'll look into those other titles. I really don't think I'd like the Ace Attorney games, but I've heard toooons of good things about them, so I'll give at least the 1st one a try.

Do you have Chinatown wars? It's one of the games that is coming with my DS and it would be good to have someone let me mess around in online with them to get a feel for it.

Try to explain how FF12:RK plays if you can. I've read up on it earlier, but I didn't absorb much. Does it like incorporate both traditiona rpgl battling and strategy components? That is all I really got out of my digging...

I really want Golden Sun DS. 2 had the worst cliff-hanger ending ever

For NG you basically use the stylus on the touch screen to slash the enemies. For some combos and big moves it will give you a designated slash or area to fill in with the stylus. It's fun but like any NG game it gets frustrating at times.

For Metroid you use the D-Pad to move foward, backward, left, and right. You use the stylus to aim and turn. The d-pad would be similar to the left stick and the stylus similar your right stick for a console fps. You use the shoulder button to shoot. It sounds odd but actually works better than you would expect.

I want Chinatown Wars, but I haven't bought it because I wanted to get it when BB had it on sale for $20 but they were sold out. I've decided to wait to see if it goes on sale again or wait until I have nothing to play. I did borrow a friends copy for a day to try it out, and it is incredible to me how well they were able to make a GTA game for DS and keep it fun.

FF12:RK plays similar to FF12, but simpler like you would expect for a handheld version. In other words, it's like taking an RTS and making a console version(Civ IV to Civ Rev.)...not as deep of a battle system but still fun. I would say it's a real time battle system with some RTS elements incorporated. There is strategy involved but not much. If you want a deep strategy game this isn't the one. You control the combat with the stylus. You can select one unit or a group of units to use. You can give manual commands. Like I said it isn't the deepest battle system, but it is still entertaining and fun and works well for the DS.

I hope that helps. Golden Sun DS is going to be great. I just wish they would give some more info on it. Also if you end liking DQ5, I would definitely suggest getting DQ9 whenever it makes its way to the US.

NG sounds like it has alright controls, but Metroid sounds a bit challenging. So, you would use your left hand for the D-pad and then a few fingers of the right hand for the stylus to turn and a finger of the right hand for the right trigger? I guess that would work, but it would take a while to get used to. How do the ball controls and other things work (switching weapon type and such)?

I'll probably end up picking FF12 up sooner or later. I loved the PS2 release and its universe, so I'll at least end up getting it because of that.

Look at this.

Golden Sun DS is going to be amazing....

You use the stylus to switch weapons. On the bottom screen there is a section with tabs for weapons, switching into the morphball, and using scannning system. It's somewhat troublesome at first, but once you get used to the controls it's not a problem. You use the left shoulder button to fire. So basically you use your left hand to work the d-pad and shoot, and you use your right to control the stylus. I believe there are other control schemes that you can choose from, but I liked this one. I believe it's the default one.

If you liked FF12, then you'll definitely enjoy FF12:RW.

Nice link. The graphics look incredible for a DS game. I only wish I could play it sooner than 2010. I hope it's an early 2010 release like around jan. or feb.

[QUOTE="NetYankEagle"][QUOTE="Orlando_Magic"]So now y'all finally decide you wanna play Starcraft:cry:Colt45fool
well now would be a good time to get on that

Word. I actually went out, and found my disc, and re-installed everything...I even found my BW disc.

I still haven't played you guys lol. I want to play against BobC even though he'd destroy us. NYE, Colt, and me vs Bob might be fair

Gamespot Presents the Greatest Games of All-Time: Starcraft

"I have Starcraft to thank for getting me into the games industry as a writer, but also to blame for my decision to drop out of college. During the beta test, and the early months of retail release, I spent probably six or more hours a day playing Starcraft. I was a junior at UC Berkeley at the time, so my rabid playing resulted in some shockingly poor grades. Fortunately for me, I got noticed by a Web site that specialized in online strategy guides, and I helped them co-author a Starcraft strategy book. From there, I dropped out of school to work full time, and my career took a long, convoluted path until I finally ended up at GameSpot. I did eventually go back to school to finish my degree--after I finally quit playing Starcraft."
