lol, knocked up was hilarious. R-rated movies are being cut so they can be pg13/14A so that more people (teenagers) can and will go see them, since the companies need all the $$ they can get from ticket sales.

bingo. its all about the bottom line. frightened parents will not take their kids to see R rated films so they have to be toned down a tad to cater to the teenage audience which has loads of money to blow on popcorn movies.

On the topic of R-rated comic flicks, anyone know what rating they're aiming for with Jonah Hex?

You know what's really annoying me about comedies by the "Superbad"-crew? They aren't funny! Seriously comedies aren't funny anymore, they arent even jokes or funny situations. Comedies of today have degenerated into a sequence of awkward circumstances. Awkward is not funny...it just awkward. That's all comedies are today. Its like the director says "Yeah...ummm why dont we set up an awkward situation and see what happens..." not cool. And these movies like Superbad and what not are really terrible. I think the movie that popularied this "Lets be funny by not being funny" movement was Juno.

Yeah most movies are made to sell tickets, so because typical demographics that go to see movies (like teens/young adults and couples) continue to pay for romantic comedies, gross-out comedies, comic book flicks, sequels, and pg-13 horror movies, they'll continue to get pumped out.

That is true; none of the movies that you named came out in the 00's... BECAUSE THEY ALREADY CAME OUT EARLIER. I, for one, am pretty pleased not to have the exact same movies coming out year after year.

You know, we could very easily list a bunch of great films that came out this decade, claim that the 90's doesn't have the equivalent and declare that decade as terrible.

But that'd be trolling.

Nah, ya just seem to be wrong :)

name a Saving Private Ryan, Fight Club, or Terminator 1's of the 00's. You can't, cause they all suck

Good War Movies in '00's:

Black Hawk Down

Letters From Iwo Jima

Hotel Rwanda

The Pianist

Downfall

Troy

Flags of our Fathers

No Man's Land

Tears of the Sun

We Were Soldiers

Enemy at the Gates

Pearl Harbour

Wind Talkers

Behind Enemy Lines

EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT A MOVIE:

BAND OF BROTHERS > SAVING PRIVATE RYAN !!!!
