10 worst bands of all time

How exactly is the author of that list rating bands' worseness? Is this basically just a list of "these are the ten bands I don't like very much"?

Because if so... that's a rather pointless thing to put together. :P

If a band is to get as popular as the bands you listed are, then they have to have some ounce of quality to get noticed and start selling so therefore they cant be the worst band of all time because if they were truely the worst band ever, then they wouldve never been noticed in the beginning!

That's about as clear as I can make it out for you that fanbase doesn't mena quality of any kind.

Give Bring me the Horizon, for example. They are a bunch of trendy scene kids, and that appeals to all the trendy scene kids. Their music is secondary. Girls would never enjoy the band if the band played the exact same music, but looked like a typical death metal bands. They got popular because of image, not their music.

Same can be said with any band on xboxplayer's list, and pretty much every mainstream musician ever.

Edit- While I do agree that they probably wouldnt have as many fans if they did look like a generic Death Metal band, theyre music is still good (IMO anyways) regardless of how they look. Ive never met anybody who likes them though, personally anyways.

Taste is subjective (you can like whatever you want), quality isn't (some musicians are better than others, they have more knowledge about music theory and more technical skills, thus they can make better compositions).

A band's popularity is meaningless, it doesn't say anything about the quality of the music itself, all it says is they make more money.

Just because everyone likes a band doesn't mean it's actually good, teenagers will obviously like the bands listed here because they can relate to their message and it's the darkest, heaviest music they have ever heard, so they'll think they're awesome even if there's better bands out there.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Whether I know that taste is subjective and that quantity =/= quality? Yes, I realize that. First of all I'm saying Quantity =/= Quality, you get that, so second of all I'm saying Quality =/= Taste, one is subjective (taste), the other is not (quality). And I think the problem with your logic, at least when applied to these particular bands, is that a band's whole popularity can be completely based on people's tastes (Backstreet boys? Hannah Montana?), so a band can sell like crazy without really having even an ounce of quality, and since these bands appeal to lots of teenagers only because of their attitude then you can't really say their selling albums and having a fanbase means they must have some quality.

As I said, the standard has been set by the classical masters of old and the jazz/rock/metal/etc legends, so judging by that standard I don't think these bands have any quality in them.

Music like MCR, FOB, Panic!, don't really have anything going for them other than they're popular and have a ton of fans. CC are a good band, the album covers are a part of the music. They aren't a joke.

Never said it was musical quality, dude. I'm saying a band's image is the reason why bands get big. If you look like an archetypical rock band, you have the hot, sexy and egomaniacal lead singer, shredding guitar player, etc. and can play generic rock music with catchy choruses, etc. you probably will make it big. Record companies pray on anything that will sell albums.

Most mainstream music appeals to both male and female, and of various age groups. Yes, you need basic skills as a band to become big, but you don't need too much.

I'd say ICP are good for nomination, as would be Limp Bizkit, but there are a bunch of bands from my town that are atrocious.

I think Limp Bizkit is up there, I can't really think of that many bands, but obviously Hannah Montana and all Disney Pop "artists" are universally bad, and the same goes for all Reggaeton.

All Matt was trying to say was that quaility does not mean quanitiy but if a bad sells at leastsome albums and has a fan base they cant be called the worse band because they actually make money.
