6. Atreyu

7. Fall Out Boy

8. Fleetwood Mac

9. Insane Clown Posse

10. Any band that doesn't involve Brendan Kelly, Paddy Costello, Jello Biafra, Joe Strummer, Bruce Dickinson, Dave Mustaine, Jason Shevchuck, Matt Canino, Tom Gabel, or Stza.

Image, having lyrics that appeal to the band's target audience, etc.

That's not musical quality. ICP has not one bit of talent when it comes to music which is instruments and vocals and that is what my list is based on. Image is for the eyes not the ears.

Never said it was musical quality, dude. I'm saying a band's image is the reason why bands get big. If you look like an archetypical rock band, you have the hot, sexy and egomaniacal lead singer, shredding guitar player, etc. and can play generic rock music with catchy choruses, etc. you probably will make it big. Record companies pray on anything that will sell albums.

Most mainstream music appeals to both male and female, and of various age groups. Yes, you need basic skills as a band to become big, but you don't need too much.

I disagree strongly, take a band that I listen to a lot and is certainly mainstream, if not "Jonas Brothers" level of popular

Heres Thom Yorke, the lead singer

Most would agree, he is not your stereotypical "studly" lead singer, I mean, look at my avatar, he's pretty damn freaky looking. He is short, has bad teeth, balding, and has a paralyzed eye.

HEEERREES Jonny

He's not a "hawt" guitar player, just look at him. His hair flops around like a muppet onstage, and he definitely is not a shredder, yet he is considered one of the best guitarists in the world.

Image=/=Popularity instead, Skill=Popularity, at least with any bands worth mentioning in the same sentence as music.

Oh man, don't hate on Aqua. It's not like they took themselves serious in the least. They were a funny band.

As for Abba, they were pretty talented. Lots of people nowadays steal/sample from them.

Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At The Disco have HUGE fanbases.
Linkin Park is probably a top selling artist of this generation.
Slipknot has legions of maggots
Korn has a huge fanbase
Disturbed are unstoppable in their fan count.

I do agree about Insane Clown Posse and Cannibal Corpse though. Judging by CC's albums covers, theyre a joke of a band and I dont see how anyone could take them seriously but w/e

Cannibal Corpse are not garbage. I wish everyone would realize that. All you have to do is get past he lyrics. Althougth they do have some songs with good lyrics.

Also, Linkin Park, Disturbed and Slipknot are awesome.

Gutteral vocals are very hard to do and to sound good at doing them. I like the way They sound. Just like you like whatever music you like.
