I say Screw Detentions, Suspensions, or Saturday schools! They do nothing. Take the bully ,make him stand up and take a stick and wack that kid up.

While I condemn the attack on the girl from the article, I must disagree with your assertion there is no excuse for hitting a girl.

If a girl hits me, then I will hit her back with all the force available to me. I've done it before and I stand by my actions.

In 4th grade, the girl next to me got the idea to hold a pencil under my butt as I sat in my chair, thereby stabbing me in the cheek. I turned around and punched her in the chest so hard that her desk flipped over upside down. I knocked her breath out so badly that she was taken to the hospital because the teacher thought that she was having a heart attack. The school tried to get me in trouble, but because I was merely defending myself my father threatened to sue the school, the teacher, the principle, and the girl's parents if I were to suffer a single negative consequence for the event.

It was the girl that ended up getting detention for using a pencil as an offensive weapon. This was before the era of "zero-tolerance".

That wasn't the only time that I've had to hit a girl in self defense, and if I need to do it again, then I will.

I defy anyone to show me a law that says that I have to let a girl hit me.

We developed codes of honor about not attacking the helpless and so forth, which would include women. There's no reason for that anymore. Women can go to gyms, they can take martial arts, they can buy weapons, and they can join the military. I'd only expect an exceedingly conservative person say you shouldn't hit girls.
