Come on, how ignorant can you get...Iknorite?????? I mean he was totally serious and everything.
To those asking why do they hate women so much most male-driven societies have developed a hatred towards women that's why they have been so oppressed throughout history. Where does that come from? well our natural behaviour is to be fairly equal in roles both males and females within a group.
During the agricultural revolution roles changed dramatically since we became sedentary and population grew considerably, men dedicated themselves to protect territory and work on the land while women's role changed to having as many children as possible to produce the workforce necessary to work and protect the land. Naturally women had like 2 or 3 children tops when we were nomads but after the agricultural revolution that number went up considerably to 10 or more. So men ended up in power positions while women ended up occupying all their time raising children. Roles changed but instincts didn't, even with the new roles women are instinctually predisposed to be equal to men in a social level and to have more or less the same roles, that makes the social environment very complex and things like manipulation happen often within a group to give it its social dynamic.
So after the agricultural revolution male-driven societies had to find ways to restrain women from their natural roles and the best way they found was by the use of force. Now you know why so many cultures excerpt so much control over women, in those ancient scenarios where agriculture was starting it was imperative to do that for society to work, if women didn't want to become babies factories then the groups wouldn't have enough people to defend themselves or for work. Places like Afghanistan are closer to that primitive state so oppression like that is seen as normal.
Of course not all that happens in a consciously or rational way, you don't seat with all the people and give them reasons why women should be restrained to help society that's where religion comes from. As far as humans are concerned emotional justifications are way stronger than rational ones, if you want to convince thousands of people to do something you use religion not a rational explanation. The problem with that is that it then becomes a tradition which further strengthens the behaviour and, in the end, it becomes a resistance to social change.

Central Asia... and yes, Taliban was a by-product of Soviet invasion and Western training, after the war was over, civil strife began with fringe Taliban fighting the mujahideen of the war, backed by Pakistani ambitions in Central Asia and Saudi Arabia's Wahabi petro-dollars. As for the Middle East, yes, colonialism made it the way it is now; hell, the borders look like they are drawn with a ruler and a pencil. Have you heard of the Ottoman Empire? It's known today as Turkey. Do you believe their version of Islam to be barbaric? I certainly don't think so, and thanks to the West, it no longer sovereign Middle Eastern countries.[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"][QUOTE="Sajo7"] Multiple invasions will do that to a place.Victorious_Fize

You're right. There hasn't been much change in the philosophical thought of the middle east since around 600 AD.

Its definitely part of the problem. If your comprehension cannot permit you to understand who I was referring to, then I'll have to inform you that I was writing about you. This is why Israel should control the entire ME, they value human rights and would never let something like this happen. Gilrs are given same education as men and same rights and people can be whatever religion they want to, or even atheist, without fear of harm or oppression.
They should do something like the EU but with ME countires instead except with Israel as the head power and decision maker. But they would all have to follow democracy and Israel to be a part of it.
