[QUOTE="GabuEx"][QUOTE="testfactor888"] The 20 year marker is what I would expect. It really depends on his lawyer and what kind of defense he puts up. testfactor888
I'm fairly certain that there is no defense to be put up in favor of a guy who shoots a kid ten times for getting egg on his car.
"Temporary insanity" is basically not even a defense. A judge and jury would laugh in the face of someone trying to pull that one off.
I don't hold the same faith in the legal system you apparently doThe insanity defense is used in about 1% of court cases, has only a 26% success rate in those cases where it's attempted, and 90% of those for whom it's successful were previously diagnosed with mental illness. It's not the silver bullet people make it out to be.

I just don't think this guy would be getting life for his crime. I can't say how much time he would do. Plea deals are always put on the table to avoid the cost of a jury trial and if this guy was threatened with life I could see him taking a lesser sentence to avoid it.please to be having more egg-themed puns pls

I think I'm pretty much the only person who cracked a joke or two...
Why are some people so eager to say that the teen was to blame? He was not to blame for his death... The only person to blame for a murder is the killer, no matter what provoked him. The teen can be blamed for what he did. That's it. What he did was ill-advised, no question about it.
[QUOTE="rcafan"][QUOTE="mattbbpl"]Again I must reiterate - I'm not condoning the driver's actions - at all.testfactor888I never said you where. when i said fun it means no harm to someone... its all in fun... everything cost money.. If someone's car gets egged and it costs them money than it does harm them. Perhaps not physically but emotionally and financially it is harmful life=money?

Defense lawyers defended against alleged child molesters, why don't you think they will defend this guy? Everyone has a right to be defended.I did not say otherwise.
At worst, just look at it like this: "Clearly the kid had no respect for human life either. No loss". That said, I doubt I'd would have shot someone. A good punch or seven works just as well. Oh right, the law doesn't allow compensation. So no punching. ' -'Man I guess some people in this forum do not have any respect for human life. Pretty pathetic.

I bet he was a drug dealer.PernicioEnigmaI bet he was an older man who had just walked in on his wife cheating on him with his brother before the kid egged his car. See I can make stuff up as well

[QUOTE="VendettaRed07"][QUOTE="clayron"] Doesn't make it acceptable. You don't go around pissing people off for ***** and giggles, because you may piss off someone who is mentally unstable and just happens to have immediate access to a firearm.mattbbpl
I know its not acceptable but kids are stupid and they do this kind of stuff. None of them would even imagine that someone would have actually killed them or something they probably would have thought worst case scenario someone calls their parents or whatever.
If someone eggs a strangers Mercedes and he thinks that someone calling his parents is the worst possible result, then he needs to wake up. It's too late for this kid, but you can't go around being a total putz and use the "I'm a kid" excuse because there are some seriously unbalanced (or outright criminal) people out there. Even if you have no conscience, there should be a little voice of reason in the back of your head that says, "Maybe this guy driving the Mercedes is a drug dealer, a lunatic, or both..."what would you do if someone egged your car? beat him up? what if he calls the cops? you goto jail for beating up a minor, so either way your going to jail, why not just kill him?
[QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]This thread has unexpectedly turned sunny side up.KamuiFei
Nah I disagree. Its starting to get runny.
That's a hard-boiled statement.
There are other ways to of had hadled this situation..............................darn can't think of any :?

You could beat the crap out of the kid and runaway the same way he did.
Exactly. Seriously guys, if that kid deserved to get shot for egging a car then most of us should probably be crucified or suffer some other horrible death.WTF is wrong with that guy!? Shooting a kid ten times and killing him because he egged his car? It's just a car, and egg comes off quite easy. To all the people who are saying things along the lines of "he should have seen this coming", really? Like you guys have never pulled a prank that went a little far or done something stupid. You don't deserve to die for it.
This is exactly why gun control is a good idea.

Perhaps not physically but emotionally and financially it is harmful I'm in agreement with this. rcafan's argument is silly. Yes, sure, the kid is probably just 'having fun'. Just like kids who use baseball bats and take off side mirrors on all the cars parked on a street, or demolish mailboxes, urinate in someone's convertible/open sunroof in their car, etc. etc. Why worry about the cleanup when life is more important right? Well, I worry because these kids know they can do this stuff and get away with it. If I catch them in the act I probably won't be able to perform a citizen's arrest without some unnecessary force, and would likely get hit with assaulting a minor or unlawful detainment if I caught the kid and brought him/her in. The police do nothing, the parents don't care, and it increases the odds that the kids will get "payback" or "revenge" for the person having caught them, because kids that use destructive pranking like this are selfish and can't accept any responsibility for their actions. They don't have to perform even 20 hours of community service for egging property. Maybe the person who shot him was having a really bad day and decided to be a homicidal maniac. That's not ok, and the kid didn't deserve to die, but the kid is the instigator of the event and holds some of the blame in his death. Life IS more important than material objects, and the car COULD have been fixed, but the kid would not have been caught, and if he was he wouldn't have been punished, and even if the kid was caught and punished, the car owner would still have had to pay for the repairs out of his own pocket. That is not right, and if the law was just, and the kid was not killed, but apprehended, the kid would have paid the repair bill double over and been sentenced to at least 50 hours community service. One should not be able to destroy another's property and fear no consequence. I've spent upwards of 24 hours of my life cleaning and fixing damage that kids have caused to my or my family's property, I've paid thousands of dollars of my hard-earned money and none of those kids paid a dime or any penalty for their actions. I could have paid this year's rent and food expenses with the money I've spent from others having "harmless fun" on my dime. This man may have worked very hard for that car. It might have been his first large purchase in his life, as a sign of his accomplishment in life, and to have that vandalized and tainted by some mindless youth might have pushed him over the edge into a murderous rampage. That is an abhorrent act to kill the kid, I'll make no bones about it, but I can understand the frustration the man likely felt in that instant. There were plenty of times when I came home after a fun weekend to find my house egged, the pool walls slashed, the front yard dug up, the mailbox destroyed, the side mirrors broken on the driveway, etc. and I had rather violent thoughts pass through my mind because I know that whoever did this is laughing about it and is sleeping and has money for lunch and for just regular spending in the weeks ahead, where I'm spending the night(and sometimes the morning and afternoon) cleaning up, and would be pinching pennies for the coming weeks in order to afford repairs and be able to eat, that I'd have to ask for more hours at work and deny myself the proper study and homework time necessary to do well in school. Harmless? Far from it. Life is wonderful, but those kids who must love life so much should focus on enhancing their lives and not destroying other people's.
