I agree. Music just aint as good as it once was.
Consolers of the Lonely - The Raconteurs
The Slip - Nine Inch Nails
Hypnagogic States - The Cure
Glasvegas - Glasvegas
There is probably a couple of more I could add, but so far they're my personal choices for AOTY.
The Slip by Nine Inch Nails.
Also Agalloch's The White EP is pretty amazing as well, so that would be a runner up. Rikardur
This too.
Well, there's been quite a few that I enjoyed this year, so I definitely can't pick just one:
Norther - N
Children of Bodom - Blooddrunk
Kalmah - For The Revolution
The Faceless - Planetary Duality
Psycroptic -Ob(Servant)
Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God
Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
Carnophage - Deformed Future//Genetic Nightmare
Cynic - Traced In Air
Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds
Â
I can't believe no one has mentioned Með suð à eyrum við spilum endalaust by Sigur Ros yet. I'd post the album art, but it might get me modded.
Stay Positive by The Hold Steady is also pretty amazing.
I really can't decide at the moment. I've liked plenty of albums this year but nothing has blown me away yet. My faves so far are Black Milk's Tronic, Q-Tip's The Renaissance, Portishead's Third, Flying Lotus' Los Angeles, Elzhi's The Preface, and Killer Mike's I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II.
I've been playing a lot of mixtapes as much as albums as well... especially stuff like Kid Cudi's A Kid Named Cudi, Wale's Mixtape About Nothing, Re-Up Gang's We Got It 4 Cheap Vol. 3, Charles Hamilton's On the Outside Looking, etc.
Well there's quite a few, 2008 has been a pretty successful year I'd say.
Â
In Rainbows - Radiohead (came out on CD on January 1st, so I'm counting it)
The Slip / Ghosts I-IV - NIN
HAARP - Muse
Third - Portishead
With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly - Sigur Ros Â
(I'm not gonna bother typing out the Finnish name for this one)
The Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow
Feed The Animals - Girl Talk Â
(this one doesn't really stack up as 'album of the year' material compaired to the others on my list but it's definitely one of the most fun/catchy/upbeat things I've heard in a very long time. Not to mention one of the best live experiences you can go to these days)
Falling Off The Lavendar Bridge - Lightspeed Champion
Â
Â
I'll choose a final winner at the end of the year, I'm sure there are more competitors that I didn't think of but these really stand out.Â
Â
Â
My faves are
1. Fleet Foxes- Fleet Foxes
2. Imperial Wax Solvent- The Fall
3. Ghost Rock- Nomo
4.Dear Science- TV on the Radio
Moonspell - Night Eternal
Kalmah - For the Revolution
Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
Opeth - Watershed
Fortress by Protest the Hero
