I wouldn't be part of a triple hosting. I just made the thread. I put my hat in the ring and legitimately did not win. As for CM'89 and LJ, what do we do?bluezy
I would just say they share being hosts. If that doesnt work, perhaps a second vote just between the 2 of them?
At the same time, LJ was OT King, so.. I'm not sure, this is kinda tough.
No multiples won't work. Meh...I tried to set it up for them....they don't want me then that's that. I won't go down that path again.

Then a vote deadline should be set, like Saturday at midnight EST. I do understand chessmaster's initial objection to the quick end, because voting had only been going on for a few days, and a lot can change in a few days. Two of my OTCar wins were "come from behind." But I don't know any of the history here, and it seems unfair to me if you had already been offered the... uh... hostship... and then had it taken away by someone else.
I must admit that I do like the idea of voting for the host, as it adds another level of friendly competition to the OTCars... but this wasn't the year to do it if arrangements had already been made.

I wouldn't say that arrangements had been made, they were more assumed than anything, with no formal stamp on it.[QUOTE="pianist"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]

Well, as I said, I don't know the history behind it. Easiest thing to do is just set a deadline, but I'd make it at least 2-3 days from now to be fair to all the contestants. I do know this has never happened before, because we've never voted the host. The thread just sort of popped up at around the same time every year, and I'll be damned if I know how the host selection was made....
Exactly what do you call a stamp? Most people say they want to do it and everyone lets them. I was asked to do it by some other users.LJS9502_basic... And now 77 individuals are asking chessmaster to do it. Democracy -- otherwise the terrorists have already won.

In fact, it's generally self appointed.

If you want it, do it. You are the reigning OT King and we've pretty much been making it up as we go anyway.
[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Would you like to be one of the 52? You can play the piano intro......pianist
I don't think a cIassical piano intro would be especially popular in OT.
But it would be awesome! Plus, it is a serious event. No headbanging Tomfoolery...

But neither is other users saying the OT king should host the awards -- yet you seemed oddly agreeable on that, despite it being outside tradition. Let this thread run its course for the next 48-72 hours, as pianist suggested, and the host is selected by those results. Internet is serious business, but its not worth fussing about.

So I did what was done in the past and got it moving since I was asked to do it. Then after I started the poll started. I'm not complaining. I'm irritated that I wasted my time.

50 second mark... suitably victorious? :P
Excellent intro. Definitely fits the mood. I do like!
Let's see where the results stand at the end of whatever period bluezy sets for the remainder of the voting (after all, the voting is not done, and LJS could still win) and decide what to do from there. If LJS has the most votes after the voting period is up, he'll host. If not, we'll work something out (and, if popular consensus is that LJS should host because he was OT King, then I'll accept that even if I win in the voting; I recognize there is the importance of precedence).
bluezy, we need you to set the voting deadline. You and LJS can work out together whenever you want that deadline to be.

I'm with pianist, shocking there :P, if it had already been set who was going to do it this year, by whomever does that, there really is no need for a vote.I'm with pianist, shocking there :P, if it had already been set who was going to do it this year, by whomever does that, there really is no need for a vote.btaylor2404
Yeah... if everything in this thread is true, I'd let LJS finish what he started this year and begin the host-voting tradition next year. Chessmaster has said he's fine with it. LJS has already worked on it. I don't see the problem here. It was just a misunderstanding, and it spawned a good idea. But let's use that idea next year.
All IMO.

Your gone! Unacceptable Gabu. We'll miss you.[QUOTE="Sajedene"] Ban yourself! I am offended ;)pianist
I would... but alas, I have no ban hammer. ... so in a way, I suppose you're inciting me to create a suicide thread... an act that carries a penalty on this site, that, if I'm not mistaken, is quite severe? :P
Lol I meant for Gabu to ban himself... but I quoted you instead ahahaha Q_Q I'm tired. Still gotta train more mailroom people tomorrow. I think its ice cream time.Under the circumstances, I am willing to withdraw my name from consideration as OT host, meaning that LJS, who has the second most votes and was the OT King last year, would be the natural choice of host. He seems to want the position a lot more than I do, in any case.
I only request one provision of my withdrawal, which is that in future years the OT host be chosen by votes by Gamespot users. If this isn't acceptable, I will request that the voting continue until whatever deadline bluezy sets and that the host be whoever has the most votes at that point; and, if the host is chosen and is not the winner of the vote, I will not support that host (nor would I accept the position as host if I did not win in votes).
I hope this can resolve this matter. I'm looking forward to participating in the OTcars, even not as the host.
Also, thanks a lot to the 80 people who voted for me. I'm glad to see I'm appreciated by so many users. :)
