@lundy86_4: Guess Trump figured out his tariffs would be a disaster.🤣

Could you elaborate? I'm just posting the news as it came up.

Pressure from CEO's and some Red State Officials.

Pretty much.

It's why posing as a strong man when you aren't one tends to backfire.

Trump is basically doing the equivalent of "Please sir I didn't mean it! I didn't mean to **** with the money! I'll take it all back, I swear!"

Weak, dumb little man. And now we know who is calling the shots (not Trump) which is somehow more terrifying.

So Trump achieved nothing, besides distracting people from everything else he is doing.

Ah, correct. The $0.2 billion part is new.

I suspect that's going to be a lot less useful than the $1.3 billion Canada had already committed to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal drugs...but hey, it's a very small price to pay to get Trump to back down.

It's been 10 minutes and he's attacked everyone but Russia and changed the perception of America as an enemy.

Even now he's trying to exploit Ukriane resources, which was part of Russia' intent of the invasion once it failed to take the whole country.

It's just amazing.

But, if that's what it takes to get an orange sexual abuse criminal man to help Ukraine, alongside his whack jobs whatever, it's up to them.

President Trump can just do a hostile takeover Canada and guess what, we can do that. Never thought I see Trudeau turned into a coward. Canadians like Trudeau always thinks they're better than us.

To be fair, America could do a hostile takeover of any country since we're the only hyperpower in existence. With great power though, comes great responsibility (thank you Spider Man's uncle ben).

Possibly, although an act of war against Canada is an act of war against a territory of King Charles and the Commonwealth, and their French allies would drag most of Europe against the US, and half of the US would take the opportunity to try to kill Trump and all of his loyalists, and Russia and China would start making their moves, and everyone loses that whole big shindig.

Also, I love the idea that the USA thinks it's too powerful to fail. History is full of empires that thought the same. It makes them complacent and vulnerable.

But to bring it back to Spider-man, I'm no comic guy, but this feels more like a Superior Spider-man moment.

Just out of curiosity, what's your measure of strength? lol

Intelligence, patience, kindness and generosity in the face of adversity, slow to anger but quick to act, diplomacy and a willingness to compromise, respect for history while maintaining a forward-facing vision of progress, subtle displays of power when it's tempting to go overboard, empathy, willingness to hear an opposing stance, standing up to bullies (instead of being one), knowing the difference between justice and law...things of that nature.

You know, Christianvalues 😁

We're already the greatest power in the history of earth; what real need is there to rock the boat? Why alienate other nations into the arms of our competitors and enemies?

It's easy to get angry and rattle your sabers, therefore it requires no strength to do so. Trump is just rattling his saber. Pitching a hissy fit.

Everything he is doing makes us look weak and petty. Everyone knows he is a tool. He was laughed at on the world stage during his first administration, and now Trump (and by extension Americans) are being totally written off the second time around.

I work at a brewery and now Canada is not importing America alcohol *shrug* I figure that's a good reason to be upset as well.

@uninspiredcup: yes, he is trying to bully his way in to short term benefits, but at the expense of long term friendship and trust.

This is the government equivalent of mugging your neighbor or someone within your friend group. Yes, you get a phone and some extra money, but from now on, everyone knows the kind of person you are.

Even smart criminals don't do this.

Not because they are decent, simply because they are not idiots.

I wouldnt be surprised if the whole tariff business, as of now, was nothing more than a distraction to distract away from his firehosing and the absolutely ridicilous stuff Elon Musk is doing.

I think Connect Four is probably more Trump's speed, but sure, fair point.

I'd mostly just like there not to be a world war in my kid's lifetime. So less talk of the US invading its allies would be cool.

That reminds me, did you see Trump's executive order allowing him to magically grant top-level security clearance to anyone he likes?

While Googling that, I also accidentally stumbled on Trump's executive order where he tried to pretend that the Hunter Biden laptop story wasn't a hoax.

In 20 years time, after they're all gone, this will make one hell of a crime movie.

*edit* Also, Trump has done an excellent job boosting Trudeau's popularity in the last week.

@Maroxad: It's distracting his base and for some reason the MSM has never been tough on Trump. But there are independent outlets out that telling people what Leon is doing. I think at some point, this will be so toxic, even Republicans will give up on him. If they see Vance as a way to fix their party, they'll use an amendment or impeachment to remove Trump.

The US is the guy everyone takes advantage of. Borrows our milk without asking, crashing on our couch when ever they want, asking to borrow our credit card and car keys.

Then the USA says enough is enough!! We gotta look out for ourselves, we have 33 trillion in debt. We gotta help ourselves. And everyone goes in such "HOW DARE YOU AMERICA!!" lol

Those minerals are in occupied territory.

And Zelensky is much smarter than Trump, and more of a man. It was most likely him who floated the idea knowing Trump is a self-serving sociopath.

Ukriane is getting what it wants, the war will continue and if he wants it, he will have to "escalate", which you've been claiming from your Russian paid assets for 3 years.

Also completely ignored, and not complained about his boasting of ending it in 24 hours, because he's your cult leader.

Oh wells.

The US has long bullied other nations for its own benefit. Which is one reason I am glad the american hegemon is on its way out. I also dont like chinese hegemon either. A world without empires, be it the US, or China would be a great world.

I appreciated Biden for his respect for other nations autonomy. Trump however, being weak wants to try to bully ohter nations into submission. Which fortunately hasnt worked with either Mexico or Canada.

They don't, apparently.

Doesn't matter anymore!

Amazingballs.

@sargentd Russia only looses if it's legit WW3 and NATO and US go into a direct War with Russia. That would be WW3.

That's alot of Nukes

-

@sargentd No not really, cup has lost his mind and accuses everyone who doesn't support the endless war in Ukraine as Russian apologist putin sympathizer stooge nazi.

Now we can have WW3, and endless war and none these stances matter anymore because unwkle Trwump twaked awot of biwwybullshit.

you should ecstatic at the idea of us taking away these minerals from Russia. What do you think wars are over if not resources. Are you upset about this?

Why did you switch up, 3 months ago you would have been salivating at the idea of usa taking back occupied land of Russia lol now it's we have to respect russias occupation of eastern Ukraine and can't touch resources?? Which is it?

  1. His nationality is irrelevant to this topic.
  2. Pretty sure everyone here knows where Uninspiredcup is from
  3. It is "You're" not "your"

Edit

4. Uninspiredcup's country donates more of its total GDP than the US does. The US is 16th.

@Maroxad: he's a big boy he can answer for himself, for somebody so interested in criticizing what other nations are doing in regards to the conflict he sure as hell doesn't like to talk about what his own country is doing.

Find that very interesting

His country contributes more relative to its own GDP than the US does.

Edit: This is what I mean about "America First" demagoguery being nothing but a temper tantrum when they realize the world doesnt revolve around them. The sense of entitlement and persecution complex is through the roof.

There is no real philosophy, coherrent worldview, or even understanding of the world around them. Its nothing but emotional outrage and "Me! Me! Me!"

@sargentd: Canada and Mexico did not cave. They offered what was already agreed upon with the Biden Administration. Trump caved.

He doesn't have a country, he won't answer, so your answering for him means nothing to me.

Again he's a big boy

And yes I should care about america considering I'm an american.

I beleive you guys should care about your own countries too.

No it's not. Videos exist of those programs. Trump caved. He's a weak bully that backs down when confronted.

America has it's hands everywhere and was considered the strongest country, that is eroding under Trump, we are becoming irrelevant on the world stage, people are allowed to be concerned over what the US does when it has an effect on the rest of the world. Stop with the xenophobia.

We do care about our countries.

And protecting Ukraine is a part of both the interest of mine and uninspiredcup's countries. Not only for security reasons, but also economic and geopolitical.

There is a difference between acting like a bully, and acting like an adult. Trump does not act like an adult. Trump wants to get his way with other countries for short term gain, at the expense of long term well being and the well being of other nations.

I want Sweden to cooperate with other countries in agreements that result in mutual benefit. Not only will this be a strong benefit to sweden, and the partnering country. But also because in this global economy, it is also what provides the best results for sweden.

Well i don't know what country he is from, so I'll let him answer that.

This should be good news for you guys, if Ukraine is paying us in resources with territory occupied Russia, then we have a financial interest in getting that space unoccupied by Russia, isn't this what you both want?

You are so silly. We gave them 30 days pause and now it's in Canada's hands to get the border locked up and work up a trade agreement. It's a win for Trump.

The clock is running 30 days, this applies pressure and now Canada HAS to take the border issue seriously or the tarrifs will be back.

What did the USA have to give up to get this commitment from Canada? Nothing. I guess a 30 day pause on tarrifs? Lol

Trump is nailing it right now.

I wouldnt be surprised if the whole tariff business, as of now, was nothing more than a distraction to distract away from his firehosing and the absolutely ridicilous stuff Elon Musk is doing.

Perfect and accurate.
