Oh?
Kill your family if they worship another god(Deuteronomy 13:6-10)
People who are uncircumsized are to be cast out from the community and are sinners(Gen 17:14)
Pork is a sin to eat(DE 14: 8 )
Women were created as creatures for mans amusement(Gen 3:16)

Can we stick to one religion here and not jump around and argue two different ideologies.

Well, Jesus might not have had a wife. And so, that leaves the discussion open for him hiding his wife, him having an affair, lots of possibilities. I'm not saying he was, but still. And I know, it's like saying that oranges could have been yellow, but still.

Or being as he was part God.....no interest in sex.;)

Embodied as a man, to live among us, and feel our pain, no one ever said that Jesus was uncapable of sin.

Reading this post surprised me a little that you think it odd a ho mo sexual reading the bible and saying he is a believer, when there are so many parallels with American society in general:

  1. God is against homosexuality.
  2. God is against atheism/secularism.
  3. God is against adultery.
  4. God is against blasphemy and mockery of Prophets of God.
  5. God is against stealing, and invading countries for their material wealth.
  6. God is against slander, murder and jealousy.
  7. God is against pre-marital sex.
You know I really could go on and on, but just a quick recap for some that might have forgotten. ;)

Yeah. That'd be pretty funny.

Whore: Hey Jesus, looking for a good time?

Jesus: Sorry, God told me I couldn't do this.

Whore: Why not?

Jesus: I don't know, something about dying for everyone's sins or something.

Which also makes me wonder; since Jesus was a carpenter, did he just keep some spare nails in his pocket for a "just in case it's tomorrow" factor?

Am I argueing with your religion? Nope. Didn't think so. I'm talking about the man in question's religion and it's not been specified. As for number 4,in the context it could easily be assumed that man is better than woman, therefore they are our possessions.

Soo...I cannot be religious, believe in god or a higher being if I do not see the bible as factual? It can be literary instead of being "all truth." Why can I not take it as a "guideline" in life instead of it just being "all truth" and if you don't take it as that, then you're damned?

I know that Christians focus primarily on the New Testament and the Old Testament is not the same as the Torah which the Jews follow, but you can't dismiss what is written in the Old Testament outright. Jesus came to reinforce Judaic Law, i.e. Law = Torah and add to it, not necessarily overwrite it. So yes the Old Testament to a Christian is still relevant.

There's a reason why the Old Testament is part of most Bibles, though some only have the New Testament. Again you can't pick and choose which parts of the Bible you like or don't.

Um...it may surprise you but Christians see the OT as a companion book that tells the story of God's relationship with His people and His covenant with them to send a savior/messiah. However, that said....Christians don't follow Judaic laws at all. What the Jewish people believe in relation to their religion is NOT the same as what Christians believe and follow. So if the NT contradicts the OT...it's not picking and choosing...it's following a different religion.:|

King James Bibles have the Old Testament, at least the ones I have come across.

Hoobinator

but he cut out huge chunks of both testamets to make himself seem better. He had divorced his wife, was an adulterer among other things, and the stories from the bible that touch on those issues are strangely absent from the king james version of the bible.... hmmm

The Bible is the amalgamation of the Old and New Testaments. You can't pick and choose what you like. The 10 Commandments are also from the Old Testament.... *sigh*

LJS9502_basic

And yet the books preach vastly different things....not the same dude.

But there are aspects of the OT which are still kept up within certain denominations of Christianity. Certainly not all, I know full well that Christians don't follow Judaic law, they don't observe Sabbath, there's no compulsion to face Jerusalem when praying, circumcision etc etc.

You have to realize that God did not actually write any of the bible at all. The bible is supposedly inspired by God. Therefore, God did not actually tell us himself that he hates ho mo sexuals.

I asked him if he was pretty religious and he said yeah. Thats pretty weird, because God is against homosexuality...

1 Corinthians Chapter 6 verse 9: What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's Kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men...

I just wanted to clear this up too, because Ive been hearing a lot of people say that God has nothing against homosexuality.

Do you guys think I should show my co worker this scripture tomorrow or what??

What are the facts then?

PannicAtack

What facts do you have that the bible is truth and factual? It hasn't been proven to be factual as of yet, now has it?

Well if you are studying the bible and claim youre religious then I am pretty sure you accept it as facts, as this guy probably does.

NEWSFLASH:

Every. Last. Person. Picks and chooses what parts the like and which parts they don't to listen to. >_>

Impossible. Then that person is not truly into their religion. Thats like telling your boss, ok, Ill clean the floor, wash the dishes, but Im NOT going to clean the bathrooms even though you told me to and its a part of my job. Do you think that person is going to get along with their boss? I think not.

You're a bit deluded about how the majority of 'Christians' in this country practice their religion, then. Fact is, they DO pick and choose. >_>

It's discrimination against a homosexual employee. If you tell him that God hates him & that his sexual orientation is against his own religion and he does the right thing by telling human resources, your ass is fired. Simple as that. :|

So... a certain group of people can't have faith in a religion because they are a certain way...? That actually reminds me of a period of time during US history... something about blacks but I can't place my finger on it...

Yes, you should. Homosexuals are totally the opposite of God's plan for marriage.
