For me, it was Taken. I wasn't expecting much from it, and it was actually really good, IMO. Who else really liked Taken? I was also surprised at how The Hangover actually surpassed my expectations. I knew it was going to be good but it was even more funnier than I thought. And 12 Rounds surprised me (for real!) because it wasn't nearly as good as I hoped. Next...

Public Enemies is the only recent one of note. It seems to have developed a love-hate reputation, and I expected it to suck. I loved it.

Same here. I heard the reviews for it were good but I had to see it and decide for myself. Really amazing both main actors deserve Oscars.

Really it is the only film on the Iraq war of major release.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, i didnt expect them to leave SO much out, and i didnt expect them to add such a pointless scene. I regret even going to see it. Dont get me wrong, what was there was fantastic, but they were WAY too many omissions. And every single omission completely baffles me.

I really like that movie also, I wasn't expecting much form it either.

'Knowing' I wasn't expecting that kind of ending, it wasn't a twist or anything but still.

'Obsessed' it was surprisingly crappy.

Bruno was a surprise for me in just how extreme it got. I own both seasons of the Ali G Show so I knew what to expect but holy **** did Cohen go far beyond anything he had previously done in terms of offensiveness. Granted I was laughing my ass off the whole time, but even now I wonder how that movie managed to get away without an NC-17 rating.

That movie is awesome, Mel Brooks is a genius IMO. "I present to you this laurel, and hardy handshake, to our new...n." and the scene where the little old lady tells him off in the morning, "What'd you expect, marry my daughter?".

All kidding aside, Taken was a really good movie, I didn't expect Liam Neeson to be such a bad ace. If I ever have a daughter I will make her watch Taken and tell her, "See, if you have sex before you're married and listen to U2 you end up like Amanda (the blonde friend), but if you don't, then I can come rescue you." :P

Doubt

This move, or rather the ending, really caught me off guard. The rest of the move, while enjoyable, was pretty predictable but the ending just kind of jumped up and slapped me in the face.

I only take my Mom to Julia Roberts- type movies, because that's all she understands. So, I found one called the Proposal with Sandra Bullock, and I have to say, I actually participated in this movie rather than thinking about my grocery list and home improvement projects.
