If you watched it then you know the division was strong, with a strong number of nevertrumpers fighting to get him to step down as the nominee. Do you all think the Republican party can pull together to actually stand a chance in the election against the Democrats.

@Gaming-Planet: I agree, people "pledge" to vote for their party no matter what. Your duty should be to the betterment of your country and your own conviction.

I'm watching Giulani now. He should have tried to avoid words with so many "S's" in them. That mic must be filthy.

@GoldenElementXL: I really think conservatives intentionally say words wrong or funny to appeal to their base. Listen to the way the lady frequently mispronounces Benghazi and how none of them can say Muslims right.

Sure they can. If the Whig Party can do it, so can the GOP.

Yes. It was really bad. There was a section today where two speakers were literally doing a play of play of what happened during Benghazi for like 30+ minutes. There was also a lot of talk about death today(a bit to much in my opinion) by a lot of the speakers in terms of their thoughts on issues like immigration and benghazi and how these issues affected their lives. I hated the section where a mother was talking about her son who died during the Benghazi incident. I understood that mother's grief, but I hated how she was being used to attack the democrats on this issue at the same time. There was also a bit of chaos earlier today when nevertrump delegates/people at the convention were trying to get a roll call initiated at the convention because they believed some states delegates did not support trump at all. While this was happening the Iowa and Colorado delegation walked out of the convention in protest against trump when this was happening.

In other news whoever worte Melania's speech tonight may have plagarized parts of Michelle Obama's speech in 2008.

That would be great.

Though at this point, a band aid solution would be to let the Libertarian Party overtake the republican party. They actually take the GOP Rethoric like Small Government and unlike the GOP, they actually mean it.

Sony E3 2006 > RNC 2016.

The Republican Party is a complete mess. They have nothing going for them. So much pseudoscience, so much ignorance, so many falsehoods under one roof. People couldn't even pronounce Muslim correctly. It is pitiful. It would be great if someone polled the people inside on whether they were creationists or actually accepted Darwinian evolution. The results would be adorable.

Here is the Q&A

Trump has done an excellent job appealing to women. Just look at the Women for Trump event,

Then there was the our military is too weak gibberish... despite the fact that the US spends more than the rest of the world combined. Obama bombing 9 countries was too weak? These guys are either out of touch with reality, complete warhawks or just liars. Probably all 3.

And lets not forget how they kept on going on about Benghazi. Despite having been disproven 9 freakin' times. You can repeat it a thousand times, but Hillary is not a criminal. Sorry, but the book 'The Secret' is nothing but Voodoo.

They bring up victims of illegal immigrants to speak up. But dont have time to talk about policy substance. Do they have nothing but anecdotes and emotional appeals? No statistics, no empirical evidence? Man how pitiful.

On the topic of immigration. Someone should give provide info to these mouthbreathers that immigrants are less likely to commit crime than natives.

"This isn't a convention, it's a witch hunt. They have 0 policy ideas so they just spew vitriolic verbal diarrhea"

Political conventions typically are not a mess like this. You can bet the Democratic conventional will have a professional tone and will go smoothly. "Everything is fucked up" is not a defense. If you want to defend Trump's convention, just come out and defend it. These indirect defenses are not convincing in the slightest.

Also, the Never Trump people are hardly crybabies. They just don't want their party being connected to somebody who lacks any kind of decency and who might wreck their party for the foreseeable feature. That's not just "crying." Should everybody just sit back and let this disaster happen?

The only reason the DNC would go smooth is because everybody is afraid of Hillary.

We all sit in here ridiculing the republicans mercilessly and now when they are being wiped out by a populist everyone is all of a sudden bucking up for them. And then to bring "decency" into it? Lmao come on. What are you going to bring up next? Honesty? Integrity? Consistency? Look man, maybe at this point I'm such a nihilist I shouldn't comment on any of this shit but this is not the most messed up convention that has ever occured by a long shot so far.

Not really. The reason the DNC will go smooth is that normal politicians are in charge, not carnival barkers. Obama, McCain, and Romney's conventions didn't go relatively smoothly (besides the Clint Eastwood fiasco at Romney's convention) because people were afraid of them, they went smoothly because they all are typical politicians who know how to do this shit. Trump's brand is pretty much tied to trashy reality show culture and that's why everything he does lacks taste and refinement. Hillary is a status quo politician and so she'll just go through the usual convention song and dance.

Everyone's bucking up for them because Donald Trump represents something much worse than conservative Republicanism. It's not just about "populism."

Yes, I'm bringing decency into it. There are some things that completely cross the line, like mocking disabled people and encouraging your supporters to assault other people.

Yes, maybe you should stop commenting on this stuff if you're a nihilist. Nihilism is a boy's philosophy.

I just can't get over the fact that the conservatives had 8 years to prepare, and this is what they came up with. Trump doesn't want to be President, nor is he qualified. The Democrats have done plenty of damage to their image over the course of the Obama administration, and yet here we are, looking at a 3rd straight liberal White House. Congrats old, racist, sexist white guys! You are destroying everything you built!

And I agreed with you with on that. Not my fault that you can't handle by opinion that nihilism is sophomoric nonsense. I will concede that my comment was probably overly aggressive, but I do like to ridicule anti-social ideologies like nihilism and misanthropy any chance I get.

Pretty strange to ascribe to an ideology that you don't actually like and that you admit has no value in regards to determining truth.

@GreySeal9: I'm always going to go after myself first when it comes to looking at any issue. That's just standard operating procedure. Yourself and your personal motives is always where your shittiest ideas are going to come from. Those are the ones it's the most important to examine. It's purely selfish by the way, everyone else's shitty ideas are mostly meaningless to me disaster is always going to come from your own shitty bias, delusions and terrlble critical skills that are always lurking in the cracks. Nihlism and nietzsche bullshit is not what you ascribe to, its what you try to keep under control to not poision the well.

@Maroxad:

As a conservative Christian, I fear that too many Republicans would admit that they have conceded to faulty viewpoints such as Darwinian evolution or at least have found a way to "combine" their theism and evolution (yuck!). Sadly, many have accepted that closed-mindedness only applies if one believes in conservatism. Liberals cannot recognize their extreme closed-mindedness and cannot accept any viewpoint that refutes their cognitively-dissonant secular humanistic worldview. Personally, the Republican party has become too liberal for me anyways. My vote will go to the Constitution Party this year. Out of good conscience, I cannot vote for Trump.

The Democrats have done plenty of damage to their image over the course of the Obama administration, and yet here we are, looking at a 3rd straight liberal White House. Congrats old, racist, sexist white guys! You are destroying everything you built!

I don't trump's the only one hurting the republicans chances of winning the election. The rhetroic republicans in general have been spouting about hilary and groups like minorities at the RNC doesn't make them look like deserve to get the presidency yet.

Yeah...

And to be honest, I find the plagiarism of Michelle Obama's speech to be the least of their concerns with the DNC. The whole thing has been full of hypocrisy, lies, anecdotes and ignorance. I find the support for empirically proven bad policies and likings to a KKK rally more worrisome than anything.

Guys can't even pronounce 'Muslim' correctly.

So let me see about day 2.

  • A protester holding a sign that says 'no racism, no hate' had their protest attempted to be hidden from the rest by someone throwing a US flag on it. How very american... not.
  • Ben Carson rambling on about Lucifer and Saul Alinsky... (appearantly he later on rambled on about liberals and progressives and how they stand against everything america stands for)
  • Anti-Science by Doctor Ben Carson. Seriously... anti-evolution now too?
  • Ben Carson thinking people dislike him for being politically incorrect as opposed to being incorrect... no seriously. You believe in Creationism. That is a big no-no.
  • There are a million ways to attack Hillary. Despite that, Chris Christie only found 8 stupid and non-legit ways to attack her.
  • Chris Christie's foreign policy comments are hilarious. Lol at his syrian comments, and lol at the guy who cant tell the difference between Hamas and Hezbollah
  • Christ Christie's butthurt about not being the VP pick
  • More "Hillary for Prison" comments, that was funny when it was a legit pun. But holy crap, these guys actually seemed to have taken a joke seriously. Complete morons.
  • Hypocrisy... appearantly we cant afford doing anything about that massive inequality but we can afford a multi trillion war that was for nothing and corporate handouts.
  • Insecurity issues... 19 seconds applause breaks here and there. Earn that shit... dont force it.
  • Rebuild our military... isnt the US military budget already bloated? Bigger than the rest of the world combined.
  • Someone made a comment on Bill Clinton's genitals. How old are these people?
  • "Donald Trump was really nice to me one time" Therefore Donald Trump for president!
  • In fact, Donald Trump was probably the most reasonable speaker of the bunch.

Did I forget to mention more Benghazi accusations >_>

All in all, lolRepublicans.

On a semi-related note, Milo Yinnapoulos got banned on Twitter.

I personally think the next generation will be so goddamn liberal that the republican party will simply just finally go the **** away for good. It's farfetched, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
