Age gap in relationships?

Supposedly the acceptable age is your half your age + 8 or at least that's what people have told me. My boyfriend is a year younger than me at 24 and mentally I am far more mature, but we still meet each other half way. I don't agree with the girl having to be younger at all and it is not weird having a younger boyfriend. On the other hand my little sister is 20 and her boyfriend (my friend) is 26, they have been going out since she was 18 and since day one they also met each other on maturity level. Then I also have a close friend who is 32, her fiance (another close friend) is 27, they have been together for ten years and are getting married this November. Honestly I don't think age gap matters at all as long as the maturity levels are similar.fantasyfacade

Wow that effin works. I always give a range, but when thinking back through my life, I pretty much have either followed this formula or want a girl that age. Thanks for that. Solves a lot of problems. Now I can just plug in the formula and give or take a couple of years if I need to.

As to your sister, either she is really mature or he is a naive, immature adult as most chicks that age are. Not a bad thing at that age, just observations of pretty much everyone I've ever met and what everyone I know says as well.

Half your age, add 6 and that's the cut-off point. I'm 36 - youngest for me would be 24. It's an arbitary but fairly good rule of thumb.poptart

I get a kick out of people who are in relationships where the age difference is more than 15+ because it's like...what do you guys have in common? And then it's kinda creepy when you play the "when I was 20 you were 5" game :? But, if you get along and you're enjoying what you have...I'm not going to say anything and I don't tend to care.

For me, personally, I like the guy to be older but I'm finding that I like it closer to my actual age

Well 16 is legal like in most places but I think it should be lifted to 18 where you can be with anyone you want, whilst I think it should be okay for a 16 year old to date up to only 21.
