^ It had to be somebody.Sora529yeah, someone in the Weasely family had to die IMO :? realy they were the biggest supporting family in the series so one of them had to die...so i guess she had to choose a friend
I kind of see a spin off coming out someday, since the book ended with the sentence, "All was well" It hints that something can happen,..but other than that, I loved the ending!
meteorgun7
No.
Well, I finished it yesterday after savoring every page. Heres my random thoughts, reactions and responses (sorry if its long, please read though because I think I have some good thoughts)
SPOILERS SPOILERS
1) Many people seem to have misinterprted the last section of the book. Heres what I took from it:
When Voldemort went to kill Harry for the first time (someone said that they cant believe that none of Voldemorts killings before have been shielded by love and its weird that harrys the only one....the difference is harry was the prophercy kid) his soul was so unstable from the other horcruxes he inadvertantly blew off a chunk of his soul when the curse backfired....it latched onto harry. This left voldemort "dead" but only still alive thru his horcruxes. WHen he used Harrys blood to rebuild his body in book 4, he unknowinlgy accepted Lily Potters Protection into his blood. Even after it had worn off of Harry it still remained in Voldemorts body, so as long as voldemorts body was alive Harry had his mothers protection.
Dumbledore said he thought this would happen all along....this is why he left Harry clues about the Hallows, so after Harry had done his duty and destroyed the Horcruxes and himself, he would be able to fight voldemort using the hallows after he came back to life. When Voldemort killed Harry in the woods he also destoryed his soul inside him, but it wasHarrys mothers (that voldemort kept alive)protection that kept him living after Voldemort had done this. The fact is Harry was WILLING to die. It was something DUmbledore needed Harry to wil himself to do and realize it for himself which is why he gave him the stone....so it would be easier. Harry cants die as long as VOldemort lives
2) Snape DIDNT hate Harry. After her learned that Harry was to die in Dumbldores office he cried and said he'd always cared for him. I think he showed so much hatred to disguise his care from Harry and not compromise his undercover status
3) I think that little crying baby in Kings Cross was Voldemort in his form when he was just living off the Horcruxes (right after he tried to kill baby harry, before his body was rebuilt
4) I thought it was weird how Draco was master of the Elder Wand. I assume it was because Dumbledore was marked for death by A) The curse from the ring B) His agreement with Snape to die and C) Dracos assingment to kill him. I assume the wand realized dumbledore has been marked for death and moved onto the one who was supposed to kill him....draco. And then I guess harry "defeated" draco by stealing his wand in the manor thus becoming the true master. What I think happened in the final showdown is both the expelliarmus AND the killing curse hit Voldemort. In the woods harry wasnt defending himself agaisnt the wand and accepted the death it brought so it worked for Voldy and killed him. But now Harry, assuming the role of the true master of the wand, was defending himself causing the spell to backfire as well as the expeliarmus to hit Voldemort.

good observations there but
as far as i remember Malfoy disarmed Albus in book 6 and therefore he was the next master of the Elder wand.... the same way harry became the master after disarming malfoy....

i finished the book yesterday and its without a doubt the BEST book in the series.... there were parts wen it dragged a bit but there was surprise after surprise on every chapter
unlike the other books ... this had so many key events (the escapes) and its goin to be interstin how it turns up on the big screen.
IMO... the only way the movie version can llive up to the content of the book is if they make it in 2 parts... there are just too many events that they cant cut off... and fittin all of 'em in 1 movie would be too much...
i really hope they make a 2 part movie.
the death tht really really made me sad was lupin and tonks... oddly...i wasnt tht much affected by dobby's death.
the epilogue was good too... i dunno y ppl thought it was cheesy.
bt i do agree she should hv told us more abt the other characters like luna and the twin.
also... Snape is without a doubt one of the most interesting characters in ANY book... the way she etched out his character is the work of a complete genius
it was really touchin tht harry named his son albus SEVERUS
bt wht i dont understand is
1. y was snape really trying to protect harry after his love had died?
2. who was tht baby at kings cross?... was it voldemort?

remeber in GoF where it was so rushed and they removed a whole challenge in the tournament.....
Remember in OOTP when they made the biggest book the shortest film.lucky326but that was the book were you could take alot out...suck as Cho and Harrys relationship *if you noticed they sorta showed Ginny more instead* and Hogsmead...but because its the last movie/book the movie should not take anything out...its coing out in 2010 so that gives them alot of time to make it good
also it wasnt cho who told umbridge abt the DA... it was her friend...tht was weird wht they did in the movie..
plus they so have to change the guy who plays dumble dore......he really really gets the character completely rong...tht other dumbledore in the first 2 movies was perfect...too bad he had to die...
i mean this new dumbledore doesnt even wear his glasses... whts up with tht??

Its a shame Richard Harris died, he was the Dumbledore I thought of when I read the last few books.
I just finished reading the book and all I can say is, "Wow". This book is the perfect finale to the series and the whole book was 'page-turning' stuff. Twists and turns were everywhere throughout the book and it ended very well. Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot and I think its probably my favourite one in the series even though it is quite vastly different in a lot of aspects. Its a great read though. :)Caddy06_88
I'd hope all books were page-turning...lol...
Just a thought on the series.
Did anyone else think the Ministry of Magic was way too easy to hate? They're always trying to make Harry Potterand Dumbledorelook bad.
I thought Rufus Scrimgeour could've been developed a lot more, he actually had a desire defeatto Voldemort and wanted Harry's help (or at least cooperation) but no, hehad to become another Fudge in Book 7 and get killed off.
...Fudge and Scimgeour were so differnt...Fudge didnt want to believe Voltemort was back, Rufus wanted to cover everything up...thats why harry disliked them...Just a thought on the series.

both of them were losers in short...
finish the book last week. Any one else find the ending was rush and unsatisfying? It took the whole book to built up to the big moment and then all the secret and battles ended in a few chapters.quocthai
I agree, the ending should have been a little longer.

I think they made Cho become the one who rats as a way to break her and Harry up, because she never really cried about Cedric in the movie like she does in the book.

1. Snape protected Harry because she was the last remaining piece of Lily Potter and because it was Dumbledore's order
2. I'm pretty sure it was Voldemort

Richard Harris definitely had the voice and the emotional acting to play as Dumbledore. He definitely played Dumbledore as a character that was omnipotent but I couldn't imagine Richard Harris playing a spry full energy Dumbledore needed for the sixth book. Besides, Michael Gabon's acting was much better in movie 5.Liquid-Princewas Dumbledore even in the 5th movies lol but anyways, the new one isnt as good as the old one...he was priceless...

The first few hundred pages were Harry, Ron and Hermione jumping from place to place.southy787I liked that. The one thing I've enjoyed throughout the whole series has been their relationships with each other. Those three just sitting around, talking, always brings a smile to my face. :P

I do remember that in the Goblet of Fire book, the maze was filled with all sorts of hazards and creatures, but it was just a really confusing maze in the movie.
I loved this book. Lots of stuff happens... And the ending does seem weak, but after all that has happend in the book, I like to think that this whole book is just one big ending to the series. The only part that was painfully predictive was when
harry sacrifices himself because he is one of voldy's horcruxes
this came to me as soon I found out what Horcruxes were in book 6, but I also that that this way too predictable, and maybe JK would come up with something better. Still great book and fantastic ending to the series.
