[QUOTE="astrozombie37"] I must agree with this. Anyone could have helped it pass. topgunmv
Who are more anti-immigration? Dems or Republicans. Or to be more fair, conservatives or liberals. I don't think the Democrats on a national level would pass something like this, while the Republicans would. People like to pretend there aren't any differences between the two, there are.
There's a difference between legal and illegal immigration.
Yeah, I know. Being a legal immigrant myself and all.
The law will inevitably lead to racial profiling of citizens of Hispanic origin. Such citizens make up a considerable chunk of Arizona's population.Sajo7
Again, we're of two different minds. I don't see a problem with racial profiling. I'm don't really care about being politically correct, after all.
Any reasonable officer will no doubt check to see if the suspect has ID. If they don't it's as easy as calling the parents and getting hold of a birth certificate.

So being anti-illegal immigration doesn't make one anti-immigration.
So you're in favor of racial profiling? Classy.
SgtKevali
Yes, I am. It's extremely useful in certain situations. It's all about being responsible. It's not like I'm drawing my pistol if a black person randomly comes up to me dressed in gang colors. But I'm obviously going to be much more careful.

You seem to think racial profiling equates to instant conviction, or instant guilt. It doesn't,
If you were a cop, or a soldier, you would understand.
Doing a job where I could possibly be shot any time I pull someone over for a routine traffic stop, OFC I'm going to be paranoid and make sure my happy *** goes home after every shift.
Edit: I'm not some crusader against black people or hispanics. But from experience they have given me the most trouble. Of course there are other signs that make my neck hairs stand up. And those are signs that I pick up from ALL types of people. Yes, even whites.
bill of rights applies to all. theres no disclaimer that says "if you are american" anywho, i dont see how this thing violates the 4th amendment. please provide some of the specifics otherwise just pasting the 4th amendment means nothing. coochie_kutaWell, I don't really think someone's appearance counts as probable cause, but what do I know? I'm just a doctor.....

They captured over 250K trying to cross the border into Arizona. Something has to be done. I hold no sympathy for illegal immigrants. It's not hard at all to carry a valid identification.Stevo_the_gamer

No, it doesn't. But if an individual speaks no hint of English, and has no valid identification on him -- then there's "reasonable suspicion" to clarify his citizenship. You're not going to have Police Officers pull over Hispanics for no reason at all, I think that's just silly thinking. So you're saying I should hold sympathy for folks who break the law? Or are you just pulling my chain?[QUOTE="Sajo7"]

No one is saying your skin color serves as probable cause. Perhaps I used racial profiling too loosely. There are many different factors that could make you stand out as a suspect. No reasonable officer would approach you because you're a hispanic reading a newspaper at a coffee shop.

Don't patronize me. If you really couldn't understand my meaning behind all that, perhaps we shouldn't be having a discussion.
But you do if you are an American citizen arrested for this moronic law. You won't be though, at the most you'll be brought to court where they will inevitably realize you are a citizen. They dug their own grave, by illegally immigrating here. In all fairness, was it really necessary to include that last bit in your post? It just sounds racist; saying you get warning signs from all types of people would have sufficed...

Exactly. You have preconceptions about blacks and hispanics, and you "use" your experience to justify them. Of course you often exagerrate this to yourself, as most humans do. That's the definition of a confirmation bias. Thank you for proving me right.

Considering you're a racist if you're a conservative and talk about black people or hispanics, yes I believe it was necessary.

I don't see what that has to do with anything. =[
Wouldn't that make me more knowledgeable on the subject than you?
I had preconceptions about black people and hispanics long before I became a cop. I also have them about emo kids, punk kids, people who wear their jeans around their ***, and a whole slew of other people. Do I let that interfere with my job? Not at all.

You admitted that you have preconceived notions about blacks and hispanics that are negative. Being black myself, I consider you racist for that, not because you're a conservative, of course. You said it, not me.
