So my sister got a dog (cocker spaniel) about 3 weeks ago. So we took an allergy test and found out i am in fact allergic to dogs! around 6 on the scale or whatever. They said they wont ever trade in the dog and will buy an air freshener. However still no air freshener. Will it help? Im sneezing all the time and no one cares.

the whole point of the ending was that the damn whale freed itself, proving A) that it wanted to be free and B) that the little dude and the old dude couldn't be held accountable, because the animal did it itself.

These things might be a BIT of an overreaction to a bit of the sniffles. More productive ways to approach the situation might include... 1. Get your parents/sister to agree to vacuum/sweep the house more often and on a more regular basis to cut down on the amount of allergens around 2. Suggest that your family get a couple of air purifiers for the house to help you control your allergies 3. Have the dog restricted to certain areas of the house so that you have rooms that you can go to where your allergies won't bother you etc. The general gist is there are ways that this can be made to work. Doesn't have to be an end-of-the-world apocalypse. ;)

That's actually a good solution. Do it while your parents and sister are sleeping. Problem solved, family gets to keep the dog (alive) and you have no more sneezing problems.

Oh no doubt he's got a point. But it is hard to get rid of cute, fluffy creatures once they're already in the house. They have a tendency to tear at the heart strings and all that. Two schools of thought here. He can either justifiably rage at the fact that his parents aren't putting him first. Or, he can come across as the reasonable one by trying to make it work but using his leverage over the situation to get things put in place that will make it easier for him. (Such as air purifiers, more frequent cleaning of the house and brushing of the dog to remove loose fur, etc.) There are all sorts of things he can swing here by being the "reasonable" one. Regular allergy shots for himself, maybe some new swag in the form of video game stuff for being a good sport about it and stuff like that.

eh. It depends on two things. His age (if he's 18 and going to college soon, then screw him, y'know? But if he's 14, that's different) and the severity of the allergic reaction.

True enough. There are some variables we don't know here. Based on posting style, I was putting him on the younger end of the teen range. I could be wrong though. Also don't know just how bad his allergies are.

Sorry, but no one should ever have to subject themsel ves to regular shots just so a dog can hang around.

I'm sure it's a cute dog, cute enough that the family would have no problem finding it a good home.

make the dog go outside more often. Better yet get truly pissed off and REALLY let them know that you can't have the dog around.

It's not the dog's fault you're allergic. It is simply existing. You can't fault the dog for doing that. Your family sounds like they don't care though. Also, an air freshener will not help at all. If anything it will make it worse 'cause you might be allergic to that too. You're not allergic to the smell of the dog. You're allergic to the dander.

Here are some excellent things to try:

  1. Try to limit which regions of the house the dog is permitted to go. We do that with our cats because someone is allergic to them. We make sure they don't get on the allergic person's bed/bedroom and such. Maybe whatever room you like to hang out in the most, keep the dog out of that zone.
  2. Or you could always build a gas mask (or buy one).
  3. Or you could always get a job and move out.
  4. Or you could build an extradimensional transportation device and still live in your house, but not in the same dimension.
  5. Or you could build a time machine and go back in time to before they got the dog, got allergy tested, and then tried to convince them not to get the dog because you are allergic.
  6. If #5 doesn't work, you could re-use the time machine and go back in time to shortly before your parents originally got together and do something so that they don't ever get together. That way your sister won't exist and you won't have to worry about the dog.

How old are you? Because if you're old enough to move out, do it. Because whether you like it or not, everyone in your family is a huge ****.

These are your options.

1.Murder your whole family by killing the dog with poison and tricking them into eating it.

2.Eat all the dogs in your neighborhood so you develop resistance to your allergies.

an air freshener would not help your allergies.

PRO TIP: Life is a LOT harder when you're on your own.

That being said, an air freshener isn't going to take care of an allergy... taking an over-the-counter medication like Claritin-D can help, though, if that becomes necessary. I'd do what I could to have a mature conversation with your parents about what's going on and perhaps see if you can get to a doctor to get proper allergy tests to ensure that you're really allergic before considering anything drastic..

getting the dog shaved would actually be a really good idea and would make a statement, it would basically be saying "if the dogs not going then its hair is"
