I think most power structures such as governments share the same kind of hypocritical requirements. One of the reasons I supported Wikileaks but it seems many people like their governments spilling BS to them so they can continue living comfortably in their ignorance. You know what they say, people have the government they deserve.kuraimena lot of the government is disjointed. Nations and governments make an effort to look cohesive, but what happens is, politicians set policy. And those policies may be ineffective. It also doesn't mean the people under them, who are counted on to execute the policy's would do so as intended. If there is any hypocrisy in government I think it occurs between the cracks. And not with any degree of mischievous intent as a whole.
All democracies are hypocritical.Wish I had been born in the dark ages instead of this era cause it sucks.conistantI know what you mean. There is nothing like being a serf. The joy of giving 98% of my hard work to the local lord. Who wants to live past their 40's anyways? and if I was really lucky I'd have been a slave.

And not with any degree of mischievous intent as a whole. I don't agree with that. There's a very evident in your face hypocrisy in governments specially the most powerful ones. For example the US talks a lot about democracy and freedom but they have had no problem supporting ruthless dictators that are friendly to them or helping overthrow democratically elected governments if they don't follow their ideology.
i gotta be honest, all countries are hypocrits, russia, china, saudi arabia, but those countries kind of admit it and they dont hide it. The problem with America is that everybody thinks its "land of the free, home of the brave" when its hardly that. They claim the moral highground more than any other country but they dont truly have it.

Do you think North Korea, China, Vietnam, and Cambodians deserve theirs?
The thing with hypocrisy is that it is far easier to criticize others than to turn and look at yourself. That's why so many governments are critical of others yet turn a blind eye to their own faults.
[QUOTE="StRaItJaCkEt36"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] I don't agree with that. There's a very evident in your face hypocrisy in governments specially the most powerful ones. If the US government claims to have the high moral ground and then acts the opposite I consider that hypocritical and I don't think they do it by accident. The U.S. government is made up of individuals. Those individuals may make claims on high moral ground. That doesn't mean they have the capacity to execute those claims. They rely on people under them. All they do is set the policy and each has their own vote. And what those claims mean to each person may be slightly different.

Children should work in a coal mine at age 7 so that later in life they can become coal miners/soldiers.

You know what they say, people have the government they deserve.sonicareYou think that most of those middle easterners deserved the govts they had? Do you think North Korea, China, Vietnam, and Cambodians deserve theirs? Well it depend, do they live in a democracy? There are ways to try and change it if they want, democratic nations have more possibilities than autocratic ones at least in theory. Are the people passive with what their government does? If they have a government that oppresses them and decide not to do anything to change that then I think they kind of deserve it. Look for example at Nazi Germany, you could argue no people deserve such a government but then look at how germans acted to put someone like Hitler in power. Sure they were suffering before the nazis but they decided to renounce common sense and humanity to see things get better for them.

That would be laughably unfair. Likewise with dozens of other countries I can think of, frankly including the USA.

It's not a 1-1 for kind of deal. If I vote for a person that doesn't mean he represents how I think. He represents me in how he thinks what is best for me. A lot of people don't even vote because the person they're voting for would not represent them regardless of the vote. I think it's a stretch, or some part of cultural fancy that claim the government of the u.s. represents the people.[QUOTE="kuraimen"] I'm talking about the US government here not individuals. the apperance of hypocrisy is as I said it was. a unified government is unfathomable to me. Best to look at the individuals.

Like I said we also have to look at what the people in the country do. Are Saudi Arabians trying to do something to end that? or are the majority just too comfortable and decide not to do anything? I see a lot of americans complain about their government but when the moment of truth comes and they side with the government against Wikileaks because they are more comfortable with the status quo then I don't see how they don't deserve that the government keeps lying to them. They had a choice and they chose a side. I'm aware many americans chose against the government too but in the end the majority won't or won't even care until it comes and bites them in the ass.

Well the decisions of the government affect the world and in the end individuals voted them in office which means they kind of agree with what they do. As I understand it the US government is the one being hypocritical since, even if they are conformed by individuals, they have a set structure for representation and what they say is too different with what they do.A politician being a hypocrite is hardly exclusive to America. It's happened all throughout history. JML897Need not say more.

i love how there wasn't a single thing that spazz said that could be considered racist, and yet, you called him one.
Speaking of hypocrisy or should I say self righteousness. . . . . . . . . ................................................
At least america didnt give in to the thalmor like some other weak countries. I dont know about you, but if I want to worship Talos, I will.
Personally, I've always felt the Roman Empire was the most hypocritical entity in history. Claimed to be the arbiter of virtue, civility and refinement, but one of its major forms of entertainment was feeding people to lions and watching slaves fight to the death.Danm_999My money was on the ancient babylonians. All holy and might with that code of Hammerabi.

This is exactly why I joined the Stormcloak Rebellion. I won't allow the American Empire to infringe on MY rights as a Nord to independence.
The only thing that pisses me off about the American government is that they act like they're the goodwill fairy or something, bringing peace and democracy to those who need it. I don't anyone in the world except the American people buys that crap.Stavrogin_That isn't why the government does that......:|
