American cage fighter 'rips out still-beating heart of training partner after fearing he was possessed by the devil'
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
Arrested: Jarrod Wyatt was allegedly found standing naked over his dead friend's body in a room bathed in blood
A U.S. cage fighter ripped out the heart of his training partner while he was still alive after becoming convinced he was possessed by the devil, it was alleged today.
Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell's tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film, officers said.
They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend's body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California.
Wyatt allegedly told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced Powell was possessed.
According to an autopsy Powell, 21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.
The coroner said Powell had been alive when the organ was ripped out after his chest had been sliced open with a knife.
Wyatt told the police he thrown the heart into a fire along with other organs that he had removed from the body, it was claimed.
He allegedly told investigators he cooked the body parts because he was fearful Powell was still alive and he 'needed to stop the Devil'.
Police had been called to the grisly scene after a third friend had witnessed a sudden mood change in Wyatt after they had all ingested wild mushroom tea.
Justin Davis told police he returned to the flat to find Wyatt naked and covered from head to toe in blood.
He noticed an eyeball lying in the middle of the floor and saw Powell's mutilated body.
A lawyer representing Wyatt has claimed the wild mushrooms caused him to act in such a violent way and had not control over his actions.
'My client was trying to silence the devil,' said James Fallman.
'I think he was having a psychotic fit based on the mushrooms he had.'
Wyatt has been charged with first degree murder and torture.
Prosecutors added the torture charge as Powell was still alive when his heart was removed.
I hate to say it but only in America people...

Tabloids in UK are different from the trash we have here in the US.The Daily Mail is a tabloid, right? Are you sure this is real?

Not always or are you saying it's impossible? I'm not sure why it'd be impossible for a hallucinogenic drug to cause someone to become violent from what they see and perceive.
[QUOTE="blackngold29"]Where's that thread where everyone wanted to legalize drugs?Lto_thaGshrooms=/=weed
I've seen numerous people who want all drugs legalized and "regulated".
I personally always found shrooms to be incredibly stupid. Yes, lets do potentially deadly mushrooms to get high. Reminds me of the people who ingest deadly nightshade to get high (and often suffocate). It's like cutting off your own arm to get "high" on the blood loss.

Did he know it was laced? I didn't read the article beyond that.

I'm kinda curious about this. Even if you weren't of sound mind and weren't in control of your actions you go to jail? No matter what?
Because I remember a story about a man who slept walk to his parents in laws house and killed them in their sleep with a knife but was acquited since he was not in control of his own actions at the time (asleep).
I, however, can't recall if this took place in the US. I'm somewhat doubting it.

I had mentioned that someone who isn't 100% mentally healthy but not a danger to anyone could be propelled by such a drug. In this case the drug isn't 100% to blame but it essentially caused the person to slip off the deep end.

In the US they like to post stories about the devil rising from Alaskan oil wells and Batboy being found. So if yours don't outright lie than I assume they are quite different.
From what I read he was lying about the devil he drank the tea as part of a Aztec ritual he even cooked him and even took out of the heart first need I say more he was using the devil to hide his true actions!
Lol now that you mention it the whole thing sounds like an aztec ritual. Anyway, the moral of this story is to not slip people high doses of a powerful psychedelic drug, especially if you're not sure you can control them if something goes wrong. Shrooms are supposed to be taken willingly at reasonable doses with sober sitters and in an environment that is calm and pleasing. Worst shroom abuse i've ever seen.....people are ****ing dumb. From what I read he was lying about the devil he drank the tea as part of a Aztec ritual he even cooked him and even took out of the heart first need I say more he was using the devil to hide his true actions!

The Daily Mail is technically tabloid-sized, so it is a tabloid rather than a broadsheet, but it's contents are more similar to a broadsheet (like the Times or Telegraph) than a tabloid (like the Sun or Star). To tell if a UK paper is a tabloid or not, you need to look for a topless model on Page 3. The Daily Mail definitely does not feature Page 3 girls.
What it often features, however, is overblown scare-mongering concerning drugs and their complete and undeniable evils. Such as in this story, where they seem to be focusing strongly on the fact that the guy was on drugs, rather than the fact that he is obviously severely mentally unhinged. Or, rather, the fact that he would *have* to be mad as a bloody bicycle to cut out his friend's heart - hallucinogenic drugs or not.

becuase one man going crazy on shrooms means that all drugs even weed will turn even sane people into murderers....[QUOTE="Unknownmuncher"]
why would this only happen in America?

Whereelse do you think MMA is popular(western world)?
Countries of current UFC belt-holders: United States, Brazil, Canada. There have been numerous UFCs held in Japan, and numerous fighters from Japan. Ever heard of Pancrase? I can see why you wouldn't want to do any research though; it's easier to make things up.
Since when is America synonymous with "western world" anyway?
Whereelse do you think MMA is popular(western world)? So it's MMA's fault! We must ban it immediately!MMA makes people violent and gives steroid addicts a reason to continue taking it. I BLAME MMA[QUOTE="Espada12"]
[QUOTE="legend26"]That small percentage who becomes murderers when they take drugs hurts other people. That's why it is banned

USA, Brazil and Canada are actually part of America but yes, I was reffering to USA.Canda is like USA but with illegal seal killing. So that does not count.

I'm disappointed, this is just a murder. I was expecting to read about an event where a UFC match actually had real fighting instead of just two guys making out on the floor for half an hour. To think I actually thought about watching UFC. Granted it was only for a second until the topic loaded up, but still...
