I walked out at the two and a half hour mark, and I don't even know how close it was to finishing. The trial was just beginning, and it'd not be surprising to find out that they showed the entire trial and then some.

Sorry, 2 1/2 hours is an hour too long. You know it's going to be a long one when the cop just starts to realize who the bad guy is an hour in. Even Das Boot, which is an exceptional movie, pushed it.

it was good, not great. it went slow up until the drug bust. ther was almost nothing important up until the bust. the plot was mediocre (detective busts drug lord, yada yada, been there done that). This move reminded me a lot of Scarface, and Scarface was a horrible movie. Dopemonk736

why did you put 28 weeks later and not 28 days later. If your putting in great movies like capote why include an action movie like 28 weeks later? AT least 28 days later has some substance.

It was probably good because Washington was in it. People do tend to overrate his movies. The only movie I've ever liked that he was in was that gang movie...forgot what it was called(no not American Gangster).Ilived

haha dodging out of the question I see, that's ok I respect that, you know when to walk away I am guessing this is your way of telling me I won right? Now for your other question, 90 minutes just isn't long enough to set up all the characters and the plot to a point where the viewer can feel emotionally connected to them, also almost every terrible badly scripted comedy generally runs in at about 90 minutes, you know what I am tlaking about films like the benchwarmers, master of disguise, etc...

I will furthur proove my point here...this is the top ten movies of all time on IMDB and thier lengths are listed here.

10. Lord of the rings return of the king.....201 minutes

I think this pretty much prooves my point 100 percent, not one movie under 100 minutes in the top ten.

3. Risky Business (9 minutes over, sue me)

OK, I'll concede to you that the most memorable movies out there tend to be over the two hour mark, yes, but that's not to say that an enjoyable movie can't be accomplished in under two hours. I think The Good Girl is a great movie (81% average at Rotten Tomatoes), and that's fine if you didn't like it......but you asked what I thought to be a good movie, so spare me your critiquing of my tastes relative to yours.

I thought American Gangster was brought down by it's length and could have done without some scenes. It dragged on, became tedious and predictable, and was not at all engrossing. I haven't been so bored watching a movie in a long time.
