Not remotely shocking in the least.

Going house to house to pass out bibles, saying prayers at government functions, and putting up billboards telling people they will be tortured for eternity...nobody bats an eye. Say you aren't convinced and everyone loses their minds.

No, a true Christian cannot be a dick. True Christians would forgive you if you killed their kid, because God wants them to. True Christians devote their lives to helping others. If I have to tell you this then you are clueless, period. I wish I was the Christian these people are, I have too much hate in my soul for it though and freely admit it. I hate islamic extremists, I hate the liberals destroying this country, I hate lima beans, new MMO's, and fish on pizza.

I forgot to mention I hate all of these stupid "let's see how controversial I can get" threads you are making too.

So rather than try and be a better person you willingly let hate consume you and doom you to hell?

Are you referring to Sheol, Hades, Tartarus, or Gehenna? Because a few of those places would be interesting to visit, Tartarus in particular, as I bet the Titans are a hoot-a-minute.

So basically, my response exceeded your knowledge of the subject. I understand that. Most Christians actually have a pretty shallow understanding of their religion, so it's no surprise. I'm used to it.

I guess not. I don't know if it was that thread, but one of those religious topics I replied to burnt toast about my religious background and that I'm still re-familiarizing myself with its practices. So, consider it a learning process. Once I reach "omniscient" status, I'll be sure to further engage you in conversation.

Alright, first off, stop with the friggin' Christian stereotypes, because that shit is really getting old. Sure there are people that are Christian that feel strongly about and oppose gay rights, just as there are non-Christians who do as well. Pretty much anyone from any background has their share of extremists. But, to go off and spout this nonsense like ALL Christians feel this way just makes you look like a dumbass. I grew up Christian, went to Catholic school and have met a lot of Christians in my years...NOT ONE of them feels this much hate for gays like you describe. That's not to say they're all for it, but they sure as hell don't condemn them for being that way. And not all of my Christian friends and family are right wingers either. My grandfather is one of the most hardcore democrats I've met and he's Catholic.

So, stop with the pointing fingers and the 'holier than thou' attitude. You're far from perfect yourself.

You didn't need to say it - your posts speak for themselves. And dude, did you even read what I posted? I never said NO Christian were dicks....I even went as far as to say that some Christians can be (in a matter of speaking), just as other groups are as well.

i could never be an actual atheist because there will never be positive proof or evidence there is no god.

but there is no way god could be the way religions portray it.

a vastly superior being that is a jealous petty vindictive genocidal maniac that loves you so much he will have you tortured for eternity?

how can anyone possibly believe such rubbish?

So you believe that there is a god because there is not proof that there isn't?

you can't prove it either way and if there is no proof or evidence to support a hypothesis then you can't come to a conclusion.

that is scientific method 101.

my personal belief is that the odds on there being a god are almost zero.

but if there is it is impossible that it would be the nutcase the bible says it is.

the bible itself is mostly senseless illogical badly written and ripped off from other sources myths cooked up by bronze age goat fuckers then edited and reedited for hundreds of years by people looking for an easy way to exert control over other people.

An atheist is someone that does not believe there is a god. You said that you can't be an atheist because there is not proof that there is a god. If you're not someone that doesn't believe there is a god, then you are someone that does believe that there is a god.

did you not read what i just wrote?

without proof or evidence i cannot state something does or does not exist.

i can speculate that the odds are almost next to nothing that one exists but i can't say with 100% certainty.

stating there is no god is a belief system just exactly like being a true believer in magical space daddy is.

if you don't have proof you are using faith.

in the case of an athiest that faith is faith in no god.

@Riverwolf007 There's a difference in not believing there is a god and knowing there is no god. Atheist believe that there is no god, but they don't know it, because you can't prove a negative. But since their is no evidence to support the existence of a god, atheists choose to believe there is no god, but just like the easter bunny and the toothfairy, the can't be 100% sure.

The south is pretty messed up, but none of those laws are actually binding. Federal law prohibits that type of discrimination and supersedes state mandate.

And education, i can't believe you guys in the states have people who want creationism taught in schools. That's an alien concept to me.

I did posts that a few years ago and i got flamed for posting that here because how did i dare to post something anti-creatonism. Creatonism has been debunked so many times by so many people. Why anyone is actually teaching this as science or fact is frightening. And this in a first world country

There are various beliefs and opinions related to creationism. Saying that they have all been debunked is incorrect.

Doesn't matter. Creationism doesn't the scientific method, so by definition it can't be taught in a science class.
There's nothing wrong with religious views being taught in a social class, it just doesn't have anything to do with science.

That has nothing to do with my post.

Answer one question: Do you believe that there is a god?

which one?

there are thousands to pick from to believe or not believe in.

if we are talking old white man that is a vastly superior magical being yet acts like a petty vengeful ex girlfriend then no.

i don't believe in that one.

when my dogs misbehave the last thing i would ever do is set them on fire for eternity so the christian god with his stated actions and morality being so inferior to my own is a story that is hard for me to put any stock in.

Should they be removed? Absolutely. They never will, though, because even if you are a politician who cares about equality, you aren't going to anger a large segment of your constituents to get rid of a law that isn't even binding. The only thing that accomplishes is not getting reelected. Politics are just the worst.

The worst news reports are the ones that presume you will agree with them because they're so obviously right. It's conventional wisdom, I don't have to worry about critically analyzing the numbers, just that they seem offensive to me and so I'm going to choose to be offended.

What a sheep. This video is a waste of megabytes. It's meaningless.

to be honest, after reading "Being misinformed is no reason to hate anyone" as a passive aggressive sentence I woudl just disregard anything he says.... as if somehow if one in thousands of religion and the exact way he follows it is the only informed decision.

Someone else has already said in this thread "There are many different versions of creationism so they are not all debunked" .... that there is an alarm bell to how informed someone can claim to be when they strongly believe that their exact perception of a religion is accurate....

You all make up and interpret them in a way that suits you. Because its fiction... and nobody can truly live up to the ideals that these religions technically require of you. Heaven must be a pretty empty place according to you guys...

oh and Jasean .... the way you talk to The_Last_Ride is pretty sad. "I'm glad you feel complete from numbers and facts alone" ... do you need a god to exist to feel complete?

He does exist to me. God is very much a part of my life; he leads - I follow.

@MBirdy88: do you need a god to exist to feel complete?

He does exist to me. God is very much a part of my life; he leads - I follow.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5

That is not what I asked.

okay, gerg...what exactly are you asking me? You asked if I needed a god to exist to feel complete...I answered that YES He does already exist to me and very much a part of my everyday life. How is that not answering your only question in that post?

I still fail the see the proof for God's existence. Religious people still have no objective proof that God really exists so why should I believe them?

For starters if God really existed, could he not...

1. Prevent pointless suffering and death of the people.

2. Help people when they are in trouble

3. Save people from death

4. Prevent social and economic inequality.

5. Make everyone happy

So you simply cannot fathom or breath without following it? You couldn't take time out? despite... living a pretty similar life without the beliefs? was you born into it?

All you told me is "Its been apart of me since forever...." and then quoted irrelevant content of the book you follow... that basically says "don't question or think for yourself, just believe and follow what men wrote years ago".

I'l add a question. in what way are you informed enough to tell us. that Roman Catholic is the correct religion... over the other big and small options... and no... quoting another "believe or die" mindset sentence from a book is not an acceptable answer. I want whats in your head. not what you've read.

Everything that's in my head is based off what I've read/been taught over the years, so I'm afraid that I'm unable your question the way you'd like.

OK. so what separates you from lets say the Muslims, that have been educated in the exact same way? what makes you correct? what makes you more informed than them? What makes you more informed than Atheists that have actually... looked at several religions or been educated and then rejected those religions based on the information provided?

What is your education level of the other major/minor religions out there?
