An interesting read. Basically sex offender laws become more and more draconian as politicians keep creating more sex laws to gain public appeal and votes and nobody votes against them for fear of looking like they support paedophiles. Here's an example of absurd lawmaking gone wrong:

"Janet Allison was found guilty of being "party to the crime of child molestation" because she let her 15-year-old daughter have sex with a boyfriend. The young couple later married. But Ms Allison will spend the rest of her life publicly branded as a sex offender."

People are so neurotic about sex in this country that I doubt anybody soon will have the guts to fight these kind of laws. I'm all for putting away actual rapists and paedophiles but charging someone for peeing outside or an 18 year old who has sex with his 16 year old girlfriend gets in the way of finding the real offenders.

strangely enough I actually agree with you. Not on the political part but yeah a 16 year old and an 18 year old who are having consentual sex should not be considered offenders.

No kidding. Labeled as a sex offender for peeing outside? Also, prostitution needs to be legal.Engrish_Major

The law is created to keep adults from preying on minors. It may not be perfect but it's better than no law.LJS9502_basic
I'm not saying there shouldn't be a law. What I'm saying, or at least trying to say, is that the law is not working in its current form and needs to be a little bit adapted to reality and not the wishful ways of thinking that existed a long, long, time ago, when it was written. Either way, it's been a fun discussion. One of the best I've seen in OT since I started hanging out here actually, so thank you for that. :)

Have fun with your yellowjackets. I'm going to drown my sorrows in a beer.

If the beer doesn't work, I'll spot you some vodka ;) And the yellowjackets may have been regular wasps after all... I found the nest. Those little bastards are doomed.

Still...get a real job...i find them to be one of the most pathetic beings to exist..selling their bodies because they're too lazy to look for a real job..it's not that hard to pick up a newspaper even and look..MCdonald's is always looking for employees yes?

You can degrade the prostitutes all you want. But what about people that can't find sexual partners through non-paying means? Why can you go to a bar, find some random person, have consensual sex, but as soon as money is involved, you both go to jail?

It is not the John who is degraded by prostitution, it is the prostitute. Prostitution is very often the end result of poverty, abuse, drug addiction. Has there ever been an emotionally stable and healthy prostitute? Probably.... but very few little girls dream of being a hooker when they grow up. That means something, no?

quite honestly i think they turn to prostitution because they have to. They problably are not employable people to begin with. I doubt anyone really chooses to be a hooker; I think the occupation chooses the person.

Thats not to say they are forced into it.

I am just saying they likely, finally found something where they can make a lot of money and theyre good at it. I guarentee you theyve tried (and failed at) dozens of jobs before coming across prostitution.
