Andrew Garfield wants to make Spider-Man gay.

"Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield has a controversial suggestion about how to update the classic character: make Spidey gay. The actor told Entertainment Weekly he's had lengthy "philosophical" discussions with film producers about switching the gender of Peter Parker's girlfriend Mary Jane, aka M.J. (played by Garfield's real-life girlfriend Emma Stone). "What if M.J. is a dude?" Garfield mused. "Why can't we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality?  It's hardly even groundbreaking!" Garfield even knows who he wants to play his onscreen boyfriend: "The Wire" star  Michael B. Jordan." Hes so charismatic and talented," Garfield gushed. Sounds like someone's got a crush."

I have nothing against gays, or gay characters (when written well)

But I'm annoyed when ever X tries to make or interpret Y character as gay when they are not(especially with cases like Peter Parker when they clearly are not!)

It's just a case of another celebrity talking just to hear his voice.  It's like Mr. Geezer said--they COULD make him gay, but some valid reason would be nice if they did decide to go down that route, which I seriously doubt that they will.

It would be an interesting take on Spiderman, and I believe some superheroes have been given the gay treatment over the years throughout comic book history so to say he shouldn't be gay because he wasn't gay before is sort of ridiculous.

In fact, all male superheroes should be gay, especially Batman. I mean, come on, he hangs out with a guy in spandex named Robin. I'm going to get flamed for this. :P

Seriously I have nothing against gay people. Hell, it'd be cool if there was a GOOD homosexual superhero. However, this is just stupid. It's nothing but an annoying attempt to push equal treatment of gay people. Don't be messin' with superheroes in such a way. Fanboys would be pissed off to no end.
