I believe in reincarnation. I also have people that have told me science suggests that its possible. I don't know for sure though.
What's funny is i'm taking a philosophy class and we were talking about this exact thing.I don't think we really even understand what consciousness is, so I think it'd be hard to speculate on what happens to it when one's essential bodily functions cease.

I know we have had this talk before but how exactly is that different from reincarnation? Isn't it the same thing?I don't believe I had 1 out of 300 million chances to live in the first place. I do think that after death, we go back to where we were before being born, which means we will be born again.

A loose definition of heaven without hell, and optional reincarnation. I don't think about it much, because there is no ultimate truth or even any knowledge of what happens after death. Philosophically, if there is life after death, then there is no true death.CRS98
Optional reincarnation is not as easy to believe as automatic reincarnation.

We were meant to exist for the same reason that we are meant to be born again and again or else we simply wouldn't exist, or would be dead already.
We all were the same thing once, and we will go back to it when we die.

What are you trying to say, exactly? We were meant to exist for the same reason that we are meant to be born again and again or else we simply wouldn't exist, or would be dead already.this is all assuming any of us were "meant" to exist at all.We all were the same thing once, and we will go back to it when we die.

I think that everyone of us come from the same thing that created the universe, and I believe that single thing is responsible for everything. Whether that thing is in another universe or part of the world around us, I do not know.

No, when you die, you are dead. This means that you cant be alive after you die... you are dead...wolverine4262Your body is merely a vessel. It's not your soul. We all have a soul. Well that is what I believe anyway. :]

Here is what I believe. We all exist for a purpose. We each have a role to play in life. It is all leading up to something. Whether it would be extinction or a new beginning. Everything that happens happens for a reason. It is all fated. No matter if you change your mind about something, it was fated from the get go. When your time is up to live, your time is up. It was that appointed date you were going to die. There are no conscidences. No chance of luck. Fate... That's all. I believe in God and Jesus but that is a whole nother subject we are going to stay off of. :]I-Need-GamesI prefer free will. but thats just me.
Theirs no way to know.Yea,, either when you die you are just dead. OR, there is this completely undetectable thing called a soul that leaves your body and lives on...warownslife

Well, we believe in different things, regardless of how simple or complex they are.Slightly veering off topic I know, but I was just reading yesterday about a new magazine launched re: death. A bit morbid but hey, I thought as this is about death I may as well throw it out there.
'We have set out to challenge the convention that death, the process of grief and bereavement cannot be sensibly articulated or discussed as part of life'
Strange premise for a magazine.... but anyway...
Of course I believe in life after death. I always remember to save my games.nocoolnamejim
You're great.
No I don't, and I hope I'm wrong.
I'v always had one question. Please don't take offense. Where did the idea that something in the universe comtrols everything or is the most powerful thing ever? I can never imagine someone just looking up and saying their is a god.
[QUOTE="I-Need-Games"][QUOTE="fartwrangler"]There are random elements of the physical world that at times have macroscopic effects, therefore you are wrong when you claim that fate exists.fartwranglerWell I mean for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction... This world didn't come by chance. There was no big bang... If the big bang did happen, how come it hasn't already happened again since the earth is billions of years old... Everything was meant to be the way it was. I'm not saying this is 100% fact but it is what I believe.*snort* Newton is rolling in his grave at that. There is extensive evidence for the big bang, primarily in cosmic microwave background radiation and redshift of distant galaxies. There is also no reason why the big bang would have reoccurred by now. Nahhhh. The big bang is just a theory. At best. Remember? It's not fact. Neither is the God that lives in heaven. Beliefs are based on your faith. You believe in Big bang, I don't. I happen to believe we were all created by one eternal supreme being. Everything about science is mostly theoritic. About 50% is.
