[QUOTE="I-Need-Games"][QUOTE="fartwrangler"]*snort* Newton is rolling in his grave at that. There is extensive evidence for the big bang, primarily in cosmic microwave background radiation and redshift of distant galaxies. There is also no reason why the big bang would have reoccurred by now.fartwrangler
Nahhhh. The big bang is just a theory. At best. Remember? It's not fact. Neither is the God that lives in heaven. Beliefs are based on your faith. You believe in Big bang, I don't. I happen to believe we were all created by one eternal supreme being. Everything about science is mostly theoritic. About 50% is.

Along with the theory of relativity and germ theory, right? The categories 'theory' and 'fact' are not mutually exclusive. Game over.

Theories, That is all they are. They can't be entirely proved nor disproven. If you do your research, the about 83% of scholars believe in a God. God can be considered a theory too. It just depends on your beliefs. And I doubt hundreds of millions of people would believe in God for nothing. :]

Theories arent just beliefs. No part of Science is based on beliefs. Have you never learned the Scientific Method?

'Theory' does not imply 'cannot be proved nor disproven'. Also, that's two posts in a row you've pulled statistics out of your ass. Want to make it a hat trick with some bollocks about the chance of God not existing? **** knows you've destroyed your credibility with argumentum ad populum and basic misunderstandings of scientific vocabulary enough that you can't really sink any lower.

And there I was thinking you'd just spent several posts arguing with 'some atheist type deal'. Don't let that stop you running away with your tail between your legs though.

I'm not arguing but that seems a bit cowardly. You should try and prove your right or accept that your wrong with evidense he gives.

Here is what I believe. We all exist for a purpose. We each have a role to play in life. It is all leading up to something. Whether it would be extinction or a new beginning. Everything that happens happens for a reason. It is all fated. No matter if you change your mind about something, it was fated from the get go. When your time is up to live, your time is up. It was that appointed date you were going to die. There are no conscidences. No chance of luck. Fate... That's all. I believe in God and Jesus but that is a whole nother subject we are going to stay off of. :]I-Need-Games

I actually dont. But it would be so sweet if we like died and was reborn. But we have no memory of the other life we lived. So imagine if you could be the reincarnation of George Washingtion I know this is stupid. I dreamed this once. But wouldnt be awesome!!!!!!!!

Life in a physical form? No. Life in a "spiritual" form and/or realm? No. Life in the sense of a continuation of a contiguous Self after the death of the body in a form unknown to us (i.e. the fourth dimension, or an energetic state)? Highly unlikely and doubtful, but possible.

Not necessarily. Our free will does not have to contradict God's sovereignty. In his infinite knowledge and power we may very well freely choose to follow our fated paths that have been designed to take place before the foundations of the earth were laid. :P

If there is life after, you don't really die do you?

And no, I don't really believe in any afterlife.

Nope. I have no idea what happens after death, so I don't try to make myself feel more secure by coming up with what I imagine the afterlife could be like. I do hope there is an afterlife, though.

No, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with reincarnation. It sounds nice and you don't experience the horror of eternity.Got_to_go

Reincarnation is such an illogical concept. If reincarnation were true, we would at least have some recollection of our past lives.

I don't see how it's illogical. Assuming you are reincarnated you still would posses new biological organs, which would not retain the same cell structure of your previous life, and more specifically this would mean your brain would not retain memories.

I think the concept of spirit is that of energy and of our psychology. We are able to see the edges of it but unable to discern it's entire form. It does exist, as we are able to identify the concept of it. But what it really represents, I'm not so sure, and what it's implications are, I'm not convinced there are any. It may just be a state of mind, and nothing at all after one is dead. But I agree, there is little evidence to suggest a spirit, if such a thing exists would be connected to our memories at all, and so reincarnation then would not be likely in the evidence of this. But some people do claim to retain previous life memories. Who knows. I don't think this question can really be answered that easily.

We will never know. And even if we do get this afterlife.. it'll just wash away and start all over again. I bet we all went through it already.. perhaps a million times over but again.. I dont know..

I don't think we really even understand what consciousness is, so I think it'd be hard to speculate on what happens to it when one's essential bodily functions cease.

I wish there was but im afraid its just going to be a black out-like when your sleeping but not dreaming...your just kind of there, but you dont know it because you can not think, but its not even you anymore because you are already gone...its scary to realize that once I die I wont be concious and I wont ever think again-just like before I was born

SpinoRaptor24

Not necessarily. Why would it be "logical" to assume that we should remember parts of out past lives? What if the "self" that is reborn in a new physical body is NOT a contiguous self that persists consciously after death? What if that "self" in essence "sleeps" between death and rebirth? There could be any number of reasons why we don't (Hindus and Buddhists have loads of explanations), but that doesn't make reincarnation "less logical" than say a Heavenly realm where the "soul" is brought to.

Reincarnation is illogical because you will never really be yourself again. I'm a human in this life, if I am to be a dog with no recollection of who I was in my past life in the next, how will this new life have anything to do with me? It really won't, if you think about it. So what if there is some sort of "spiritual link'? It doesn't count for jack without some way to recollect an awareness of who I was. It's essentially pointless.

There is only one word here that I think proves my point:

Amnesia

People in this life can forget everything about who they are or where they've been... what so hard about conflating that to a contiguous self after the death of the physical body? Reincarnation is no more illogical/logical than Heaven or resurrection or any "life" after death.
