I hope so, because nothingness sounds like eternal suffering.

[QUOTE="I-Need-Games"]Here is what I believe. We all exist for a purpose. We each have a role to play in life. It is all leading up to something. Whether it would be extinction or a new beginning. Everything that happens happens for a reason. It is all fated. No matter if you change your mind about something, it was fated from the get go. When your time is up to live, your time is up. It was that appointed date you were going to die. There are no conscidences. No chance of luck. Fate... That's all. I believe in God and Jesus but that is a whole nother subject we are going to stay off of. :]rawsavon

Do you believe in the Bible?
If so, God gave us free will...which kind of contradicts your post

Except god knows what is going to happen in the future.

Why? You aren't around to suffer anyways.

However, eternal life could easily be construed as eternal suffering, especially if your loved ones aren't around to be with you. Not to mention that an eternity is a very, very, very long time.

I wish there would be.
I don't want my existence to end.
But I don't think that's going to happen.

I hope I'm wrong :)

[QUOTE="Animatronic64"]Reincarnation is illogical because you will never really be yourself again. I'm a human in this life, if I am to be a dog with no recollection of who I was in my past life in the next, how will this new life have anything to do with me? It really won't, if you think about it. So what if there is some sort of "spiritual link'? It doesn't count for jack without some way to recollect an awareness of who I was. It's essentially pointless.

There is only one word here that I think proves my point:

Amnesia

People in this life can forget everything about who they are or where they've been... what so hard about conflating that to a contiguous self after the death of the physical body? Reincarnation is no more illogical/logical than Heaven or resurrection or any "life" after death.

Yeah, It's just as illogical as heaven or life after death. And amnesia doesn't prove your point at all. If you have a brand new brain, completely unrelated to your former one, then it isn't really amnesia, it means your a completely different life form all together. I mean, that's like me being me in this life, and then becoming Brad Pitt in the next. Obviously Brad Pitt isn't me. Reincarnation is nothing more than a fallacy. Once we're dead, our bodies simply decompose, and our physical remains do NOT return to become another complex life form. So, therein lies the notion that reincarnation is completely spiritual. It's as if our souls are magically lifted from our cold lifeless bodies and then randomly transferred into another life. Yeah, ****ing, right. Unless the consciousness that we posses within our mind at this very moment carries over with the soul, then reincarnation is a big fat lie. I am not my soul, I am not my physical body, I am my mind. That is what defines me. I wouldn't be the one reincarnated, it is my soul that would be. Wait... Is it even my soul?
