i seriously wonder how ppl from today would react to world war 2, or a more 'actual' war.

probably piss themselves.
On the thread: I have no problem with the guy signing, but I bet they chewed him out because generally they tell you not to chat or say dumb things over airwaves. You're supposed to keep it mission chat only.
What was sung did not necessarily go out over the airwaves. A single click of the button on the control stick opens the ICS or Interal Communications System found in aircraft so aircrew can talk amongst themselvs. 2 clicks or pushing in all the way in connects the mic to the actual UHF or VHF radios. You would be surprised what is talked about over the ICS (been there done that as aircrew in helicopters).
I hope that people who have no problem with this imagine the insurgents or a terrorist doing the same thing.kuraimen
Oh, you mean like the terrorists who filmed themselves decapitating American hostages and singing and dancing and cheering after they did so? They do it already and yet people like you do seem to condone them doing so. Then again, your anti-US rhetoric has always been strong. What if those same terrorists were doing that to Costa Ricans? Would you still begrudge your military for singing while killing terrorists or insurgents?

It is my contention that the Allies would have lost WWII if we had the instant communications that we have today back then. People do not realize that war is a nasty business and that it is bloody and gory and that people lose their lives and in many unpleasent ways.
This is such a ****ed arguement. The military is there to defend a country's citizens. They're not there to fight senseless wars, and laugh and dance and sing while they sit there firing missiles from miles away. There's a difference between a soldier who fights to defend his country, his people, his wife and children. And soldiers who sing songs, and act as though the lives of others are worth nothing. The army trains you to kill people, but you better hate doing it or be hated by the entire world

The US has a fair share of douchebags joining the military. But the guy in the video provided in the OP is a perfect example of a normal person coping with the rigours of war.

This reminds me of that movie:
"They train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write f**k on their airplanes because it is obscene."
It's ridiculous that they question the morality of singing while killing people and not the act of killing itself.

It does matter. If he thought they were insurgents and he had information or another valid reason that made him believe that, then it isn't his fault. But every civilian casualty is one too many.

You do realize that for terrorists YOU are the enemy? So from their point of view they might be thinking the same thing. For americans not just cutting off heads is a savagery but also the 9/11 attacks. One thing some people may not realise about being in the military is the irony.
On one hand, as a Soldier your main job (unless you're a Chaplain, since they don't carry weapons) is to kill the enemy. If you are a support job (medic, cook, finance, etc.) then your main job is your duty position but you still have to be ready to kill.
On the other hand, military rules are so strict that you could be thrown in jail for being late to work a few times versus just risking getting fired like a civilian. Also, while a married civilian can cheat on their spouse without legal consequence adultery is illegal in the military.
If people want to call that pilot sick because he was singing then that is your right to call him sick. But I can bet money he has a wife and kids back her in the US and he probably never misses a sports game or dance recital his kids have while back home.

I won't stop denouncing injustice as I see it no matter where it comes from so get over it.Give me and everyone here the instances where the US went in and killed unarmed civilians before 1980. You cannot. Beruit Lebonon, 1983, Marines killed while trying to help with a civil war there. 1986, Americans killed in a disco in Germany by Libyans. 1993, Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie Scotland where Libyans killed everyone on board from multiple countries including 178 Americans. 1985, handicapped and wheelchair bound US citizen shot and shoved overboard during the Achille Lauro. 1993, WTC 1 bombing. 1998, US embassies in East Africa bombed by Al Qaeda after they declared a fatwa and against all Americans whether armed or not. This fatwa also led to the unprovoked 9-11 attacks.
Bin Laden was butthurt over the fact that an Arab country asked the US for help in getting it's country back from a madman and despot, instead of them using his people. Hence is so called war against the US (my opinion). Being that he declared war on the US and has attacked unarmed US citizens, the US can go to where he is at to fight him and his so called army. While there have been some instances of civilian your so called freedom fighters do. I could see them as freedom fighters if they would not so willingly blow their own unknowing countrymen up as they blow themselves up.
If you want to denounce injustice, then you should be castigating the Taliban, the PLO, Hamas, Al Qaeda et. al for killing the innocents that they do. It's one thing to attack armed combatants, but it is another to target and attack those who have nothing to do with the war that they started.

If my country was doing sh1t in the country of those people who came and attacked us I wouldn't feel good about my country acting all self-righteous and telling me they did because they hate my freedom. I would actually BS and try to stop my government from doing the crap they're doing.I am quite frankly appalled. The pilot is raining death on these all these insurgents. All these men, desperate, scared, sons, brothers, perhaps fathers. All dying. At the very least he could do it respectfully!
If you have a problem with this (and I do), perhaps you should consider the inhumanity of war rather than focus on the disrespect of the pilot. Seriously. The US wars are so out of the spotlight, but if we saw more of the reality I doubt as many would stand idly by.
