Uh. They were always about feeling hurt and using weird metaphors to get that across.

I've never been very fond of them, even in my infamously depressed teenage years.

Not really, they just go through odd style stages. If you remember them when they first came out they were angsty multi-colored hair guys who went on to become Techno-y emos with Meteora who then became emo biker-ish looking dudes. They just change.

No they didn't. Linkin Park isn't any where as good as Cap'n Jazz (real emo band BTW). LP did go down hill though a very long time a go heck I was still in middle school.

By "sad" do you mean pathetic? Yeah, a little bit. If you mean "emo" or something along those lines, then yes, they always have been.

just because a band changes their sound doesnt mean they suck. hell, i loved minutes to midnight, it may not be as good as their other albums but it doesn't mean they suddenly suck. At least they're nowhere near as bad as Nickelback

I had no idea people still listened to them after Meteora, then Minutes to Midnight or w/e came out and it seemed to be a big deal...but still I dont know anyone who listens to them anymore. I do enjoy Hybrid Theory because it takes me back to middle school lol.

I did! That stuff was crazy. And the thing about Linkin Park is that they're everyone's guilty pleasure. Even people that absolutely despise them still like at least one of their songs. Seriously, they're good, they have a surprisingly wide appeal.

Linkin Park has been sad, I don't see where they were so "Hard" They've always been this MTV sold band, MTV is most of the reason that they're good, and I see a correlation between MTV's less focus on music and their fall. They always sucked, I used to like them back in my emo teen, angst years, used to think they were hardcore, but I moved onto bands like The Strokes, some Indie, and some classic rock. I have friends that are still huge! into them, but as I got older(I'm 20 now) I stopped liking the music, seen through the BS, I got real depression around my 17 year old time and when I got up from it I seen that Linkin Park is not the way of thinking about it.

Shinodas raps are elementary at best, and they're a bunch of guys from orange county, yeah Bennington may have been sexually abused as a kid but who cares, that's no reason to make a bunch of CD's about crying and capitalizing off of keeping teens angsty. Did I mention that all they were was an TRL band? All they are is Nickleback for crybaby teens. They're the classic case of children who grew up with a silver spoon in their mouths, parents give them everything in the world, but they get all angst ridden, and guilty of their wealth because something some rap song told them.

Only songs I really liked from them were Faint, and Nobodies listening(which was basically Faints

without all of the bells and whitsles, and different wording)

They suck(ed)

I am not a depressed 13 year old (which it seems that the lyrics were written by, and for). The lyrics are also one-dimensional - it's tough not to laugh when just reading them. And, musically, they are extremely simplistic riffs with basic 4/4 drum beats over them. For anyone who knows how to play an instrument, or enjoys complex writing or metaphors, it's actually hard to like them.

I'm not a fan of LP but where someone comes from doesn't determine how happy or sad they're going to be. People across the board have problems no matter their upbringing.

Eh, you're the music version of those people that can't stand Transformers 2. Not everything has to be deep to be enjoyable. The riffs may be simple, but they're definitely enjoyable. I'll admit, I don't like most of their songs but a few just stand out. Namely Faint and What I've Done. Do those two songs have the horrors that you've spoken of? Yes. Do I enjoy them regardless of that and even above some 'high art' songs? Very much so.

You actually have me tagged quite accurately. However, I worked at a record store for 7 years, so I felt entitled to my smugness when it came to music and movies. :P You certainly can enjoy what you choose to enjoy, and I wouldn't have said anything if you didn't state that everyone likes at least one thing that they do.

Gah, and I suppose you're entitled to dislike things that I thought were universal semi-likes. You broke my theory :(
