[QUOTE="topsemag55"][QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"] OK, but most, if not all of these people crossing the border don't have active duty members of the armed forces to help pull some strings for them.

True, the person I helped I had claimed as a dependent. Immigration was still giving me a hard time though, so I wound up writing a letter to the senior member of the House Armed Services Committee - Immigration fell all over themselves trying to be nice and help me after that.

How do you have a dependent unless it's a child or wife? Which wouldn't need immigration.

Ex-wife, foreign-born, and yes she had to get a green card and go through Immigration for citizenship. Not only that, but I was fighting the US Embassy (which is supposed to help Americans - *insert huge rolleyes here*) for a visa.

That's because an ex isn't married to a citizen.

I think that's kind of the point that Sun_Tzu is making here. The process was troublesome enough that even you, who already had active duty members of the military helping out, had to write a letter to a bigwig Congressman to move things along.

I pulled out the big guns because one certain paper-pusher wouldn't listen to reason. All I had asked for was an expedite of the process due to financial reasons (a tax liability could have been placed upon me by her native country if she wasn't a citizen). The liability came because I was returning there for an assignment.

Very against... If they want to come here. Then they should do it legally.00-Riddick-00

Concur. I'm for helping if they do it the legal avenue and actually are applying for citizenship and work in the meantime on a work visa or something. If not, then I'm about 1 to the 86th power to get them out of this country as soon as humanly possible. If I was going for my citizenship or had gotten my citizenship, I'd be highly ticked at people that gave my ethnicity a bad name because they're freeloading. It's like waiting in line for hours to get some tickets or to get into something that has a huge line and then 100s of people just wait until the last minute and just cut right to the front of the line. Would you be fine with that? Not I said the very ticked off fly. There's no excuse for anyone that sneaks in the country and doesn't try to become a citizen. Absolutely none. 86'd - gtfo.

No. It's quite simple. If they're in the country illegally, we shouldn't support them. Let them get their citizenship and then they get the same benefits as everyone else. I'm all for people leaving their countries to come live with us, legally though.

I'm against it. Illegal immigration is why the state of affairs with foreigners is the way that it is.

I'm all for helping them. They're more trustworthy than other workers working for the same amount, because of their situation and also their reason for being here- a better life for themselves and their family. Besides that, legally immigrating is incredibly difficult depending on where you come from. My father took five years tofully immigrate to America from Venezuela, and he had an American father working for the government, had a college degree, and could speak better English than most Americans.

That being said, I live in New Hampshire where there are almost zero illegal immigrants.

I think we should tighten our border control. I don't have a problem with legal immigration-- simply put, if you want to come here, don't break our laws to do so. Illegal immigration violates our sovereignty as a nation.

It's just like their name says "Illegals" they're not allowed to be here, not supposed to be here, and if they want to be here than follow the proper system like all the other immigrants do. What makes the Mexican population so special that the laws shouldn't be applied to them?

Help em. The Irish trashed the Italians, the Italians and Irish trashed the Asians, they all trashed the blacks (some continute to), and now the latinos are getting the hate. It is all part of a unfortunate cycle in our history. To have these racists sit around and say "rawr rawr our fore fathers would be loosing their minds" need to shut up and look at a history book.

IronBeaver
People's dislike of illigal immigration has nothing to do with racism and it's used as a last resort tactic by pro-illigal immigration supporters. It's like resorting to name calling in a debate cause the person has no further arguement to support their opinion.

If they wern't able to get jobs here they would leave on their own. Go after the employers of illigal aliens and your problem will be solved.

It's not like no one's allowed to enter the country. If you really want to be here that bad, you can do it legally.

I like going to my friend Nicole's house. She has a ton of games for Xbox and makes great coffee. I respect her house when I go there; I ring the door bell and don't come inside unless I'm invited in. I don't break the window, climb in and start making myself coffee.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Helping them with what? Become legal? Definitely. Helping them take money, work and resources from hard-working legal citizens just so they can ship whatever they make back home? Definitely not. If they come to a country wanting to become part of the citizenry, them I fully support anything the government can do to help them. If all they do is leech of the hard work of others... I say back to where you came from. Though, it doesn't help that US immigration laws are so stringent. If they loosened it a bit more, and lowered the requirements to people who can prove they can work, then all the better.sonicare
I never understood why more illegal immigrants didnt head to Canada. You guys have better social systems than us. I think the economic situation in Canada is ok as well. They'd get more benefits. Though, they'd have to deal with those Ontario winters.

Don't you need to have some sort degree and working experience to immigrate?
