[QUOTE="black_tempest"][QUOTE="DivergeUnify"] Okay, America has a very large population.DivergeUnifySo does Japan Less than half that of the US. The culture is also extremely different. Yes, they shun guns, it's in their culture to do so. Also, although they have less than half the population of America, America has over 100 times the amount of murders by guns, so even if Japan had the same population, assuming percentages were the same there murders by guns would still be drastically lower.
Well the second article points out the fact that when gun ownership went up to 100%, the crime was cut in half, and contrasts that two a town in the same situation which imposed gun laws, and had the crime rate go up. Second, I remembered the crime rate going up about 1/3, which 35% is about 1/3, and that shows that controlling guns doesn't help anything. I agree that cultural difference does have an impact on the crime rate, but in any culture, more guns means fewer crimes. They both do show a correlation. Here is another link, maybe this will help (I really don't think it will), http://www.theacru.org/blog/2007/05/harvard_study_gun_control_is_counterproductive/ and if you want more, I will show you more because they numbers ALWAYS show what I am saying so I can get a lot more numbers.JacobisthemanHave you watched bowling for collumbine, it's by michael more and he does actually contend that gun ownership does not effect crime rates and homicide rates like one would expect. Though it does show that basically every other country where you can buy guns, the gun crime rates are much lower, even in a relative sense with population. And he also contends that culture doesn't have much to do with it. People say the USA has had a violent history. So have many other countries. No, in the typical Michael moore fashion, he says that the gun crime problem is a problem with the US itself that gun laws couldn't really fix.
Pro... 99% of legal gun owners are not idiots... now if you are either mentally ill, an illegal gun owner, or a part of that 1%, then GTFO.GodofBigMacs
Exactly right, thank you. I think it should be mandatory to attend the concealed weapons class that many americans take anyway.
I own numerous guns. Unfortunately, I feel like I may have to show them to a few boys in about 10-15 years. I have a daughter. :)JERMINITISHahaha. See that's the great thing about my last few girlfriends, they've never had a father figure in their lives. I don't have to worry about dads like you. :D
[QUOTE="Treflis"]The gun business in America is circular logic. Civilians : "We need guns to depend ourselves from other people who have guns" Crooks : "We need guns to depend ourselves from other people who have guns" Police : " We need guns to depend ourselves from other people with guns" Everybody needs guns to protect themselves and it just goes around in circles. I'm against it mostly because, Besides Hunting rifles which has an extremely strict law-of-purchase on them, there's no other weapons able to be bought by civilians in Norway which I assume does affect my view on the matter, additionally the Police only get issued weaponry when there's confirmation of a person being armed with a firearm and that is very rare. Might be because the country is somewhat small but even so we have one of the lowest Crime rates in Europe.Spicy-McHaggis
I'm glad your somewhat optimistic. The United States is much bigger than Europe, and has alot more scenarious because so.
