I think race is quite a misnomer. It is the taking of slight genetic variations that generally have to do with the sunlight and historical food types in a particular part of the world and somehow using them to separate people into groups. While in the past, physical characteristics certainly had a high likelihood of determining in what country one was born and raised - and thus to some extent what their ideas about things might be - I think that in today's increasingly interconnected world where travelling across the globe is somewhat trivially easy (for those with disposable income at least), that sort of assumption is getting less and less valid.
At any rate, I do not have the mindset that I am somehow responsible for the behaviors of other people just because they happen to be born in the same arbitrarily defined land mass as me or share some rather superficial physical charateristics. Maybe the fact that my family tree, historically, derives from several nationalities (as tends to be common in the U.S.) is largely why I feel this way; maybe it's because I know all too well what it is like for people to treat you a certain way because of arbitrary b.s. that you have no control over. (I was a small guy growing up.) I really couldn't tell you. At any rate, I do not, consciously at least, feel pride or guilt over anyone's actions other than my own (although I'm sure if I had children, I would feel responsible for their actions to some degree.)
I can say that there is a lot of people out there who will use any rationalization they can to try to act "superior" somehow to other people, even if it has less to do with who they are as individuals and more to do with whatever group they somehow see themselves as being part of (or not being part of). Don't let them pull you in to that way of thinking.
