videa games are expensive
legos can be expensive
gundam models are expensive
sucks when things are expensive.
Gaming is relatively expensive, but playing guitar and basketball aren't. At least, they aren't expensive after you buy the stuff you need. Guitars don't need a whole lot of maintence and if you take care of it you only need to buy one guitar. Basketball can basically be free if there's a court around and you can get a ball to play with.
Yes, musical instruments are quite expensive. Especially bassoons, but I got really spoiled there with my wonderful grandparents.

[QUOTE="snugglebear"][QUOTE="Maddie_Larkin"]Yes! I left out cooking and baking. One of my prime joys in life. Also, here's to good old paper and pencil RPGs, where the dice fly and people actually know what the hell THAC0 means. Havent heard that in awhile.Have a few hobbies, and it is a bit "yes and no"
Electronics (tv, pc, gadgets, and such)yes, it is expensive, but rewarding and fun.
Cooking, no it is not that expensive, and it is both interresting and amuzing (just hate cleaning up afterwards)
Music, yes this is expensive, I like music a great deal, so going to a classical concert, is fairly peppered, and buing music in general is not that cheap (and yes I buy my music).
Movies, No not really, I like movies, not just as entertaiment, but also the workings behind the camera, and how a movie is built (cant remember the real word right now) Movies are pretty cheap in general, and good classics are often dirt cheap. Im currently trying to build up a library of "movies that changed or set a mark on cinema history), I like most kinds of movies.
Games, I like all kinds of games in general, both PC, Console, and board games, this is expensive, and also a mix of several other hobbies.
RPG, No, I like Role playing games, I like making worlds, and settigs, I like how you can get people inthralled in made up worlds, where they go a week untill next rpg evening, thinking about the world, and such.
Books, yes, like movies I also collect books, I do not like most easy reading books, but I DO like Philsophy psychology, history books in general, and I like books that has good themes, and messages to the reader, My favorite genres are educational books, sci-fi, fantasy, cyberpunk horror, and poems. A good book that is precise and well translated (altho I prefer the native language of the writer) can cost more then a game for a console or PC -.-

Gaming- very expensive, but I dont buy any games at full price.
Reading- Quite expensive.

Yeah not really. I'm not even a fan of music. If I had to pay a dollar for every song I would probably only have 50 songs. As it is I have 382.Sounds like you respect music as a whole...

When I mean pay for music I don't mean give away money for free to dumb ass iTunes. Also, individual songs? You're doing it all wrong
MTG is pretty expensive with gaming.
its about $100 if theres a game i actually want which is rare, but alone its about $35 month to support my hobby.

Why would you buy an entire CD when you can just get the songs you want on iTunes?Snowboarding - buying all the gear = expensive. The mountain passes aren't too bad. I don't snowboard much these days.
Guitar - Once again, buying all the gear = expensive (My jackson RR3 cost me 1300). I never did get around to buying a better amp though.
Gaming - meh, last upgrade cost me around 700. I haven't bought any games for a while.
Reading - Library saves money, buying books don't even cost that much anyway.
Learning programming, hacking/pen-testing, other general IT stuff - Doesn't cost a thing.
Hobby 1 would be surfing. Once you got a surf board which can cost you from £150 - £250 for a decent starter board, depending on how long you want it to last. When you get better and want to progress you might want to go custom, in which case your looking £350 - £450. My most expensive board cost me about £500 because I got a graphics designer from Nottingham University to design a lovley piece of artwork to go along the board. I should post a picture of it oneday, but that means buying something that I can take pictures with or getting a new cable that plugs into my PC from my phone.
The cost of surfing depends on how far you live from a surfing location, I won't go into traveling abroad because that could be classed more of a holiday then a hobby. For me, it's about £3.00 worth of petrol there and back, not a long drive at all. Once there I may have to pay for parking which will cost me about £3.50 so a day out for me would be £6.50. Only thing after that is wear and tear on equipment, but I keep goodcare of it. A wet-suite tends to last me 2 years until it starts to get holes in it, I also buy decent wet-suites since I feel the cold a lot so I need something quite thick to keep the heat trapped in. Overall, it's not an expensive hobby.
Hobby 2 would be horse riding. This is expensive, lucky for me I don't pay for much. My parents own 5 horses, they rent a field and stables which obviously costs money, but not as much as you might think. Horses have expensive vet bills so you don't want anything bad happening to them, they also require a lot of feeding and maintenance . Food for horses is another expence, so you need plenty of hay but you also need other feed such as oats or some cerial thing mixed in which sugerbeat. You buy that by the bag load and it can last a while. Horses equipment can be expensive, especially the saddles. We got a saddle that's worth over £1000, you need to get saddles custom made for each horse ideally. Location is not a problem for us since we live in the country, so once you saddled up your horse you just ride out. Oh yeah one more expence for horses, the blacksmith. You got to pay the blacksmith to shoe the horses about once a month or 2 months. Blacksmiths get paid well so that costs more then you might think. Don't ask me on that one mind, I never pay for that.
Hobby 3 would be computer games. You know this one as well as I do.
Hobby 4 would be drawing and writing. Gamespot forums has never seen this side of me. My brother is an artist and I think some of that rubs off on me. I don't have the computer software but I got a lot of hard gear, such as pads, A1, lots of every type of pencil, oil paints, acrylics and stuff. It's not too expensive, it's quite a cheap hobby. I don't spend as much time doing it as I would like, I get frustrated with it, I'm not as good as I want to be, my imagination is wild but I can't always put what I picture in my head down to the paper. I am currently reading a book called 'Pencilling Comics' by Klaus Janson who is one of the main artists for Batman, Spawn and Punisher, I'm starting again and working from the ground up, it's teaching me a lot!
