i would think that if i am facing god and explain that there is no way i could go along with the evil that is organized religion he would understand.

if he can't then he is just as evil as his followers in which case i am more than happy to be seperated from him.

We don't believe it's going to happen so we don't worry and if it did happen why should he punish us for not believing in him, he didn't give enough solid proof of his existence to the people who had there own beliefs and because of that he is going to torture us for all eternity, I don't see the reasoning behind that.

Why in the world would you be afraid of facing something you don't believe exists? It's like asking a person traveling North if they're excited about meeting Santa Clause.

If he/she/it exists, I dont know if he/she/it judges us and where this judgement of his/hers/it is based, so I dont know how to feel about him/her/it judging me.

[QUOTE="fend_oblivion"]

[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Why would they? If God exist he will be judging on what kind of human you were, not what kind of religion you were following. The "only by following our religion you can go to heaven" dogma is a nonsense created solely to let religious leaders fill their pockets, nothing more.

AdrianWerner

That's true. This "only Christians can go to heaven" thing is BS. There are a ton of good people in different religions. Heck, there are good people among atheists.

Not to mention...if it were true, what would happen to milions of people born before Christ? Or even modern people who are born in non-Christian countries. Only an idiot or a very mean spirited person could think they will be damned forever

Christianity is basically the "sequel" to Judaism. So before Christianity there was the Old Covenant.

And really, some people getting so mad at God. Jesus Christ came down to Earth, suffered excrucating pain and torment eventually dying on the cross JUST TO SAVE YOU and rose again. It's really, really not that hard. Thanks to Jesus , dodging the hell bullet is as easy as "Dear God, I'm a sinner, I'm sorry, please forgive me and save me from damnation. I believe Jesus came to Earth, died for me, and rose again. I now devote my life to you. Amen." Is it THAT hard? You want to spend your life complaining that "Oh I can just curse God and willingly not believe in Him, and if he wants to pass judgement on me after this life is over well, he should have made it even easier."

Is tithing really putting you off? There are underground church groups in North Korea who gather in secret at the risk of being executed. You think some corrupt Christian Shin Ra executive is lining his pockets with KimJUngIllions and saying "Now I am a wealthy North Korean Citizen! Hooray for Christian conspircies!" There's debate today over whether tithing is even required in the New Covenant. If it bothers you THAT much to support a non-profit church through tithes, do some research and figure out what you believe about it.

There is no God, there will be no judgment day. Even if there was there would have to be one hell of a waiting room somewhere.

Tithing isn't mandatory in the New Covenant. But there are some "Christian" ministries that play heavy emphasis on tithing. These churches are essentially dead because instead of showing people that they can have victory over sin, that they can love their enemies, they show how to make money through tricking believing people to give money and "buy" their way into heaven. Sadly, these type of "Christians" are what the world sees frequently.

Then there are "extremist" ministries that emphasise violence, and discrimination among gender, race and class. I'm not surprised at all why people hate Christians. If I was in their shoes, I'd too. The entire point of Christianity is to love one another, live decent lives and for selflessness. Sadly, very few Christians see this. I've seen more unbelievers that can see this than Christians. Can these unbelievers go to heaven? If they can place emphasis on selflessness, yes, they can. Same applies for Christians too.

Ah religion. I'm personally a Wiccan, so I don't really believe in one central god, but Atheists don't believe in god, so why would they be scared to face him? And who says he really exists anyways? The bible is quite a sketchy book if you ask me, so..

My thought is, the end of our world will come one day weither we want it to or not, weither it's from god or whatever. Some take advantage of this by saying they know more about 'The End' than anyone else, like someone has come and told them some secret knowledge about the outcome of life on Earth. But if I were a Christian, which I'm not, and I believed there was a God (a "Mr. Good") ruling a heaven, and a devil (a "I-Get-The-Blame-For-All-Things-Deemed-Bad-By-Man) governing hell, I would not trust a word anyone anywhere ever said because devil is a deciever, right? The Devil could have decieved the ones that wrote the bible so any who follow words from a book as "Gods Word" will be damned for following the devil into hell. It's a twist you've never thought of, what if the bible is decieving you. If you're going to believe in something at all, why believe that a book is governing your soul? It seems silly to me.

I could be wrong, but the way I see it you can't CHOOSE to believe in something. Either you do or you don't. it's not a conscious choice you can make. Going by that, your situation doesn't work very well. Anyone else have any insight on that issue or want to correct me?

Christianity is basically the "sequel" to Judaism. So before Christianity there was the Old Covenant. NuclearNerd

So what about all those people whole lived too far away from ancient Israel to even hear about it, or the Jewish monotheistic faith?

Were they condemned for hell because they had the poor judgement to be born in the wrong geographical location?

And really, some people getting so mad at God. NuclearNerd

No, little buddy, most people are mad at certain worshippers of said alleged god, who use things written in a book several centuries ago as an excuse to commit the most appalling atrocities the twisted human mind can come up with.

Besides, how can you be mad with something you don't believe existing?

Jesus Christ came down to Earth, suffered excrucating pain and torment eventually dying on the cross JUST TO SAVE YOU NuclearNerd

Except it's nothing but more Christian fairytales, and has absolutely no meaning, unless you already practice this religion.

and rose again. NuclearNerd

Well, then there was really no merit to his sacrifice if he knew from the beginning that he's coming back, now, don't you think?

It's really, really not that hard. NuclearNerd

Yeah, it kinda is, buddy - why should I subscribe under your definition of the creator?

There's a few dozen different faiths out there, each with it's own, perfectly good explanation of the creation, and our part in it, so what makes your personal choice so special? What if some other faith is right, and your is wrong? In that case, both of us are going to hell!

You want to spend your life complaining that "Oh I can just curse God and willingly not believe in Him, and if he wants to pass judgement on me after this life is over well, he should have made it even easier." NuclearNerd

And what if you're the one wasting your life? What if you waste your time on meaningless ceremonies and pointless gestures in order to win the favor of your favorite sky pixie so he let you into his exclusive sky-club where all the cool guys hang out ofter they die, only to find out that the only thing you get to do in your afterlife is to rot in the ground, and maybe sprout some tree with pretty flowers?

Have you considered that possibility?

Additionally, he supposedly died to cover the original sin we are all born with, despite the fact that we now know the original sin did not happen, because Adam and Eve did not exist. You can't populate the world with incest, and no, the Christian explanation of magical men coming down and breeding with the children and grandchildren of the two does not hold any water at all. So since Jesus essentially is god, for all intents and purposes, he was killing himself, to forgive us for an imaginary mans sin, and being an all knowing god, supposedly he would know that. So who was he trying to impress?

In short, no, athiests arent scared of facing God, as they do not believe He exists.

I can't tell anyone else what to pray for, but I pray for those who do not pray for themselves. I see nothing wrong with that.

Like every other response said, "They won't be afraid of something they don't believe in." Great, close the thread. Probably made us Christians look even more stupid, not that I really care.
