See thats another problem, why even have such console specific boards, why not just place everyone in the GGD, and if they really want to argue as fanboys (I hate the term, but now I'm using it) let them go to system wars...Everything else could be placed in OT, that way boards move faster, and the entire place seems less boring. The Gamespot forums simply aren't big enough to support such a wide array of different boards.

I couldn't imagine that. We'd have all those "I want these pokemon DS" threads to contend with! We can't allow that. :P But in seriousness, the other forums are good, and though sometimes they lack the number of posts and the fastness that OT offers, there are still good topics in those console forums. It boils down to just good topic making and posting in all boards. If no one sees good topics, or better yet if no one responds, then what is the point? Bigger boards = bigger discussion, and by cutting down the number of boards to three of four mods would have an easier time weeding out all of the bad topics and unfruitful discussion. I really think the pros greatly outweight the cons.
Edit: The creation of the legacy boards potentially cut out users that could have lended themselves to the GGD. Really it would just make everything easier to find, without having to move around between threads. Another good reason to combine the boards is that often times the same topic can be posted in three or more different boards, splitting relevant discussion.
