[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"]Just because you dont care about the well being of others doesnt mean other people do not. sherman-tank1

Other people shouldn't care about my well-being. It's my responsibility so long as I remain conscious and sane.

While that is true, you can't do everything by yourself. Someday you need somebody's help. Like a doctor.

That's different, he is choosing to go to a doctor and pay for the service.

They can care, but ultimately it's my responsibility. Their caring doesn't affect my control over my body and mind.

People don't follow regulators with alcohol what makes you think they will with things even worse?

So we should ban drugs because people might break the law to obtain drugs?

No. I'm saying they won't follow laws such as not driving under the influence.

You think people search your pockets before giving you care? I'm confused as to how that would work. If you told a family member then I would understand, but they aren't always around.

At least we're seeing some higher-ups recognize the issues with this "war on drugs" fiasco. Also, whatever helps decrease our bloated prison system too.

Yep, and that's when implied consent kicks in. You are being highly evasive here. The point is that people should be allowed to make a *conscious* decision as to what goes in their body, regardless of what other people might think, so long as it does not cause harm to others (emotional trauma doesn't count). There is a reason why people get prosecuted for putting booze down people's throat's after they've passed out.

Your logic is so broken I don't even know where to start. So because people don't follow the regulations that surround alcohol, we should push it to dealers who don't even have any kind of regulation in their business practice?

Do you understand how dangerous some drugs really are?

I don't care... If someone is stupid enough to use it and/or kill themself with it... Not my problem.  As long as it is in their own home and not a risk to the public, I really could care less what people put inside themselves.

How does not concerning myself with people who turn to drugs make me cold? There are seven billion people on this planet.  Their problems are not my problems and vice versa...

Oh and I have thought about people other than myself, all through my youth... I was confined to a wheelchair and constantly wanted to be included/participate, but you know what... I was "different" so I was excluded and ridiculed... Now... I just don't give a f-ck about other people, if some piece of sh-t wants to get high and kill themself, have at it buddy is my attitude.

Welcome to life kid. The universe doesn't care. The world doesn't care. Your country doesn't care. Your government doesn't care. Your neighbour doesn't care. The only people who kinda sorta care are those you have personal contact with and are on favourable terms with. And even then, if their survival instinct kicks in, they won't give two sh!ts about you or your situation. Personal responsibility is something everyone should aspire to. It will prevent a lot of this "someone else will do it for me" attitude.

It will be interesting to see the Republican reaction from this. I imagine that a good portion of it will be against this move while I imagine that the Libertarian wing will receive it relatively positively.

A move in the right direction, and the idea has a lot of support. Similar ideas have been floated in Congress, so it's not an original idea for Holder. I'm glad someone in the Obama administration is getting behind this.

[QUOTE="chrisrooR"][QUOTE="sherman-tank1"]Those were exactly what I was referring to. If these became open to everybody, it would be beyond awful. It already is bad now.

sherman-tank1

I don't believe anyone should have the right to tell someone what they can and can't put into their body. They can surely try and persuade me not to, but in the end it's my decision. I can go outside into my garage and inhale the fumes from a can of gasoline. People who do drugs are going to do drugs. If they're regulated and taxed, at least some good can come out of it (schools, roads...etc) as opposed to lining some cartel bosses pockets.

So lets make it legal for 8 year olds to snort cocaine. Or maybe a preg women to do all sorts of crap that can ruin her baby.

Damn, that's a big strawman right there. Too bad it's not made of cannabis; would light that bitch on fire and inhale deeply.
