There are a few I know that should get more recognition, here are a few:D

The Idle Race
Tomorrow
Porcupine Tree
Shearwater
The Creation
Pulp
Supergrass
Spocks beard

I personally believe that bands get the recognition they deserve. If they work hard, are talented, release good music, and tour extensively they will get the recognition.
So I won't name any bands because of that.
Arctic Monkeys, in my opinion.jointed
Are you being serious? Well in the Uk they are probably the biggest band of the 'indie' genre

They often dont though, especially these days.

The U.K has a very different music scene than the U.S does. Lots of the so called indie bands in the U.S are pretty much mainstream in the U.K. Bands like the kaiser chiefs, kasabian and Elbow are much more widely known in the U.K. I kinda prefer the music scene there.
There's tons of bands from the 80's and 90's, but the bands I'm about to list are from the 60's and I think created classic albums that have been overshadowed by their contemporaries.
The Millennium
Kaleidoscope
[QUOTE="Pirate700"]I'm pretty sure everyone in this country knows who Iron Butterfly is. Their one hit to this day is one of the most famous rock songs of all time. Film-Guy
I have never seen or heard them mentioned anywhere.
Strange, when I listen to the radio, I hear In a goda da vida all the time. I'm not sure where you would expect to hear ABOUT a band that has been disbanded for almost 40 years though.[QUOTE="jointed"]Arctic Monkeys, in my opinion.rastaman219

Yeah, in the UK... but they're virtually unknown in the rest of Europe.

Tbh Elbow aren't that big in the UK either, although i must admit the 'indie' scene in the UK is on fire atm you just neeed to see all the festivals that have popped up in the last 3 years

Good choices, I hardly see Kaleidoscope mentioned here.

I went to one of those festivals, the hop farm festival. Supergrass, Primal Scream, Neil Young and My Morning Jacket played there. Great show.

Hmm, yeah. It may have been a slight exaggeration but they're certainly not as big in other EU countries.

Yeah it was a bit random, great show though. Rufus Wainright and the Guilemots were there also. Nobody here knows the Guilemots though.

The Arctic Monkeys should be buried alive, along with McFly, Snow Patrol, Scouting for Girls and Coldplay.
Fugazi and Husker Duweb966Fugazi and Husker Du get a lot of credit. In fact, VH1 had a list a couple of years ago that included both of those bands. I don't think that's a compliment, but it's recognition.
Enter Shikari - Amazing band from Britain. Their music is a very unique blend of post-hardcore, trance and electronics.
NoSssweat
YES!
[QUOTE="ClawKiller"]Avenged Sevenfold

Rise Against
Pendulum

I thought avenged sevenfold were pretty big already.
Not in Britain they arent.
Out of everyone I know, theyre only 2 other people I know who are fans.

Guilemonts sing get over it, i know there other songs too.
They are multi cultured
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Soundgarden Greenfire
Huh? Soundgarden are one of the "big 4" of grunge. Compared to the other three they might be the least observed, but they are still very popular.
Anyways, the Toadies are a very under appreciated band.
Yeah I was wonderingh why SG was listed also.[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="ClawKiller"]Avenged Sevenfold

the only reason that Fugazi probably got credit is because Ian Mackaye is in it.
