Bands you don't get the appeal of?

There are several for me recently.

1. LCD Soundsystem

This guy gets nothing but praise and I just dont get why. The music is catchy sure but how is it any better than other electronica?

2. Paramore

The lead singer has a decent voice but they just sound like a generic pop punk band.

3. Oasis

All their songs sound the same for the most part. Standing on the shoulders of giants has a few more interesting tracks but they are nowhere near as good as Blur.

Agree with Paramore... also any metal band. I dont get the grunting and growling whatsoever...I also dont understand how people pass off their lyrics as poetic and deep when its clearly just nonsense...

Oh FFS. Must metal fans always defend their genre when somebody says they hate cookie monster vocals? Yes we know not all of metal is like that but let the person just say what's on his mind.

"Techno is so dumb. Just some bloops and bleeps with a dumb beat". OK fair enough I'm not going to defend the genre every time. Nor will I defend a specific sport for same reason when somebody gives a one sentence reason of why they don't care for it att all.

I am a huge fan of Indie and Alternative music but I totally don't understand the mass appeal of The Arctic Monkeys. They just sound very bland to me

AMEN! The worst ones are the ones that are "cool" because they're original shopping at Hollister and wearing flanels with boat shoes and a beany because even thought they live on the other side of the country California is where their heart is though they have never been there before.

The main appeal (to me, anyway) is the smart, witty and personal, yet easy to relate to lyrics, but the beats/arrangements are also creative and well done. Very few people could make a song like "All My Friends" work in the first place, let alone work and be a song you could dance to.

Anyway, while I enjoy their music I don't get why people are as in love with Fleet Foxes as they are, and I've never been able to get into Deerhunter. And in an admission that will probably have me deported, I've never been blown away by Rush.

Yeah i agree, i don't understand why these groups get so much attention from the media and why their music is played on TV and the radio it makes no sense, if somebody took a minute to read the lyrics to these songs they would realise it's talentless rubbish.

Although not all rap is bad, i do think 80's rap is okay like Notorious B.I.G. and N.W.A and i don't even like rap.

Death Metal/Black Metal....whatever you wanna call it....it's nothing more than pig squealing to me. Or maybe that's the whole point?:shock:.........:P

I don't understand why people like that stuff... With screamo you just have some idiot who you can't understand literally screaming... With metal you just have the same thing as screamo usually, but also with loud music... And rap... Rap is not music... Rap is just some piece of crap rhyming about either how terrible life is or women (but not women as women, women as sex objects)...
