Is there something about them that you find off-putting, or is it simply that you haven't found anything to like or dislike about them?

Nothing about them that I find off-putting. They just don't do anything for me.
[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"]The Smiths is another one. Maybe one day they'll click with me, but I just don't understand the appeal of them.LJS9502_basicI've never liked them either....
Really? For some reason, I thought you were a fan of them.

Immortal? DUDE?! At the heart of winter > anything by Amon Amarth. Bringing us back to the topic actually, Amon Amarth is pretty high up there among bands to which I've never understood the appeal. It just seems like bland, second-rate melodeath.Brokencyde. They got a huge fanbase how? Deathcore. Immortal. It just sounds okay and not much else. Nickelback. Among many others.

tattered banners and bloody flags is their best song, imo
It's a great one, but imo Thousand Years of Oppression, Avenger, Twilight of the Thunder God, Amon Amarth, and Live for the Kill are all better. Just my opinion though. :P
My favorites are Live for the Kill, Under the Northern Star, Prediction of Warfare, Tattered Banners, Pursuit of Vikings, Cry of the Black Birds. :D

cry of the blackbirds is awesome as well.. gets kind of boring if you listen to it too many times thoughBrokencyde. They got a huge fanbase how? Deathcore. Immortal. It just sounds okay and not much else. Nickelback. Among many others.

If you consider one riff played for 4 minutes a song, sure.Which are not repetitive....that guitar just hit the same chord over and over and over....ad nauseum.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]
[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]
Complaining about repetitiveness and yet you like The Cure? :?
chessmaster1989
Yes... they are repetitive... which is fine, there are good bands that are repetitive... but they are still repetitive...
LJ, why do you never admit you're wrong? Your favorite band in the whole wide world is a ton more repetitive than Amon Amarth. The song I posted is in fact repetitive, but the majority of their songs aren't.

Thaaaaaank you.BrokeNCYDE and Insane Clown Posse.
Even with bands I really don't like, I can usually understand why other people would like them. I've always been incredibly bored by Radiohead and Tool, but I can definitely see the things in those songs that people could find beautiful. I've always thought Fall Out Boy and Panic (!) at the Disco were incredibly annoying, but I can see how somebody could listen to that and think it's fun. I've always thought Nu-metal had the most annoying vocals ever, but hey, some people like it and I can't necessarily see why, but I can understand that they do.
But BrokeNCYDE and Insane Clown Posse, I just don't see how you could listen to that and enjoy it. There's just nothing about it that sounds in any way appealing to me, or that I could think of as being appealing to somebody else.
Deathcore bands, seriously.cyberdarkkidAmen to that. 8) And mainstream pop and mainstream rap for me.
So I say the song is repetitive...you agree it's repetitive but say I'm wrong. :lol:LJ, why do you never admit you're wrong? Your favorite band in the whole wide world is a ton more repetitive than Amon Amarth. The song I posted is in fact repetitive, but the majority of their songs aren't.

There is nothing at all wrong with the vocals you're just not open to new styIes of music. Johan is one of the best vocalists out there I think. I like how you can understand every word he says which isn't something normal out there in death metal.

You'll find assumptions are not the way to go...they are often incorrect. I listen to quite a wide variety of music...but grunting, screaming, growling, are not pleasant to listen to...whether or not you can understand him. I prefer someone who sings....There is nothing at all wrong with the vocals you're just not open to new styIes of music. Johan is one of the best vocalists out there I think. That Amon Amarth doesn't repeat one chord continuously, yes it has a chord progression that it sticks to through most of the song, but you can find that in a Cure song as well.....The beginning was the same chord...it was a repetitive song and the vocals killed it. The chugging was used as more of a percussive kind of sound, other than that it's not that much repetitive but it has a slow progression so I can understand how someone can find it boring and repetitive I personally think that's one of Amon Amarth's weakest songs. Much to the probable disdain of OT, the Metal genre as a whole. It is loud sloppy music with screaming in it. That's it. I don't know how you could listen to it in any other setting than a fight or something of the like, and even then I can think of loads of stuff I'd rather listen to. I cannot fathom the idea of having it on in a party atmosphere, just on while you are performing a simple task like cleaning the house/apartment, or even driving in your car. Ugh. Hate it. To each their own.
