. [spoiler] Is that the new comic? I don't think he actually died in it.--------"Grant Morrison's 2008 storyline, "Batman R.I.P.", featuring Batman being physically and mentally broken by the enigmatic "Black Glove", garnered much news coverage in advance of its highly-promoted conclusion, which would supposedly feature the death of Bruce Wayne. The original intention was, in fact, not for Batman to die in the pages of "R.I.P.", but for the story to continue with the current DC event Final Crisis and have the death occur there. However, out of desire to give the storyline of "R.I.P." a suitable conclusion in and of itself, Batman appeared to die in the final chapter of the story[76] only to turn up alive in the very next issue as a prisoner of the "Crisis" villain, Darkseid. The death came a month later in the limited series Final Crisis, during which Batman confronts Darkseid. Making a rare exception, Batman uses a gun loaded with a Radion (which is poisonous to the New Gods) bullet to shoot Darkseid's shoulder just as Darkseid unleashes his Omega Sanction, the "life that is death", upon Batman. However, the Omega Sanction does not actually kill its victims: instead, it sends their consciousness travelling through parallel worlds, and at the conclusion of Final Crisis it is made clear that this is the fate that has befallen the still-living Batman as he watches the passing of Anthro in the distant past." Indeed; Tony "Jackass" Stark would make a cybernetic clone of Jason Todd to really screw with Batman's head, I'm sure :PIronman would win.
However I hate that character and Batman is my favorite superhero.

[QUOTE="Sajedene"]Batman... he's considered one of the if not the smartest man, greatest detective, and his only problem is he has trust issues. He's beaten practically every big name out there including Superman. The whole Justice League fears him. He has hooked up with the hottest women (Wonderwoman included). I can go on and on. II_Seraphim_II
I don't think Batman is the smartest or even one of the smartest. He is very smart, but he is more of the "street-smarts" and great detective than "intelligence" smart. Iron Man (especially Ultimate Iron Man) outclasses him when it comes to raw intelligence. From the DC universe characters like Lex Luthor and even Superman far outclass him when it comes to raw intelligence (yes, unknown to most, Superman has super-intelligence :P ). But I still believe that Batman would win. It has nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with experience. Batman is a master tactician and a combat veteran. He understands the ins and outs of combat and understands how to find and exploit weaknesses. It would also seem that he is an adept psychologist considering his ability to "read" people and accurately guess what they will do next and how to entrap them
Actually, Batman has genius level intelligence with his only competition being that of Lex Luthor. In the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark is smart, but is not even on the same caliber as Dr. Doom, Hank Pym, or Reed Richards.
It is amusing to see that everyone is so hung up on Iron Man and his suit -- all Batman needs to do is compromise that suit and bye bye. Or get him drunk -- since he is a recovering alcoholic. But the Bats wouldn't stoop that low.
And the argument that Batman dies... please. He is human. He is going to die eventually (technically could be argued that he didn't anyway). And omg... Tony Stark is eventually going to die too.
If you have your enemies and allies fearing you and wanting you dead instead of being worried that your personal deamons could jeopardize a team... I say that is a pretty strong reason as to why Batman owns all.
[QUOTE="TheZ3nMan"][QUOTE="FragStains"]Iron Man. Batman can't fly without external resources. That gives Iron Man a huge advantage.FragStains
How is his suit not an external resource? :?
I choose Batman, for all the reasons Sajedene listed, and because he's the Batman.
Because he always has access to it...Batman on the other hand doesn't have that ability at his fingertips. He doesnt always have access to it. What if Batman ambushed him when he was vulnerable? Remember, that's how Batman works. He plans his attacks. He doesnt need a lame robot suit to kick someone's arse. If he can kill Superman and the entire Justice League, Iron Man would be nothing.
[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"][QUOTE="xaos"] Extremis-era Iron Man would just delegate a half-dozen Iron Man suits to take down Bats, and while away the evening making time on one or more hot chicks while Batman received a beatdown that would make him long for the days of BaneInfinite-Zr0I'm a few years behind on my comic book reading. Need to get back into it. Are you saying that the modern Iron Man now has a bunch of extra Iron Man suits who act all on their own and go fight crime without him? That would be the ultimate of awesomeness in my mind. Tony Stark doesn't even need to bother with the fighting crime/super baddies part of his job. He can just send the suit out while he sits at home and gets the nookie. A while back when Iron Man was part of the New Avengers, His suit was stripped off of him when he was captured in the Savage Land. He said some magic words and it assembled itself and wreaked havok on it's own. And afaik, Extermis allowed Tony to communicate and control electronics or something. It's been a while since I've read the Extermise mini. What # Point me to a link I mustve missed that one

have you seen Ultimate Iron Man? His entire body is brain. As for Batman's intelligence, its suggested but not verified. Sure he always has super cool gadgets and all that jazz, but he doesnt have the raw intelligence of Lex or Superman. In fact, I would say that Batman's intelligence fluctuates a lot through the comics. At times he exhibits genius levels of IQ, and at times he only exhibits above normal "intelligent" IQ, but one thing is for sure, no where in the comics are we ever led to believe that Batman's IQ is in the same domain as Lex Luthor. Lex creates inter dimensional devices, decrypts technology from ancient civilizations that are so far beyond our sophistication it's not even funny. Batman is not in the same league as Lex Luthor when it comes to intelligence. As for Iron Man, I'm willing to concede that Batman may be on par with Iron Man, but he is no where near the intelligence of Ultimate Iron Man. As I mentioned, Ultimate Iron Man is the spawn of 2 of the greatest minds, and to top it off, his entire body is a brain. his level of intelligence is far beyond anything Batman could ever hope to achieve baring some gamma rays or some other MacGuffin.in terms of whos the better characater and better story batman
in terms of a fight i would have to go with iron man...but rember bruce is smart, im sure he could develop a weapon or something like an electric radio bomb or something that would dissable iron mans suit completly
ok if you talk about Iron man losing the Armor then Batman would win hands down because
he's skilled in the martial arts but Tony Starks is only a street brawler. I cant remember what comic it was in the
80s or early 90s where Tony Starks gets beat up because he doesnt have his armor.

Batman struggles with Mr. Freeze and the Joker.....
Ironman has laser beams, super strength and durability, can fly, create and manipulate magnitic fields, fire sonic blast, etc etc.
And this is base Ironman.
He's got customized suits as well more versatile and powerful then the original. Example Hulkbuster which he used to fight Hulk.
Ironman has his way with Batman.

i will go with Batman...Batman will win fight atlast...1st time if they both fight Ironman will be on advantage not b'coz of his uit but b'coz Batman don't know all about him...But after 1st fight he will make definitely something which will destroy his suit...so it's clear Batman will win...:D

Ironman sucks (even the Hulk can beat him up -- lol ). Funny thing is, with all the intelligence and skills, even according to the Marvel website itself, Ultimate Ironman's fighting ability is **** I'm sure if DC had an ULTIMATE universe Batman would be unstoppable... maybe why there is no need to do that.
Batman -- intelligence wise - is already well documented (look it up). If you read the comics books, he is compared to that of Lex Luthor, Ra's Al Ghul credits him for it,.Just because Lex CHOOSES to make all these crazy things does not mean Batman is incapable -- he just chooses not to. His peers in JLA fear him and all the information he has on them and what he is capable of -- but enjoy the fact that he is on their side. (granted some of them had to lobotomize him -- but that again just proves how awesome he is). He can be outsmarted from time to time... heck even Reed Richards gets outsmarted... and no matter how intelligent Lex is, the farthest he can go is the White House -- still no world domination.
It depends. If batman has information of Ironman ahead of time, I would say batman. If they both come in blind I would put my money on Ironman.

You're right... they are great friends. So great of friends that Superman knows the awesomeness that is Batman that he is the only one he trusted with the green kryptonite ring to take him down if needed.
My two favorite times the Bats took Supes down are of course in TDK (the Dark Knight Returns) and the awesome eyecandy that is the Hush storyline (Supes was controlled by Poison Ivy and Batman had the kryptonite ring -- just to make his punches effective). But there are PLENTY more if you do your research.
I can only recall Batman losing to Superman once... that is in Red Son (my favorite version of Superman -- EVER) and even then he had a hard time.

so Batman defeated Superman when he was controlled by poison ivy...that's why Batman used krptonite ring to defeat him...punches are not effective when it comes to Superman..only matters is krptonite...well Batman was doing his duty...tell me more if you have some time..i like iron man, but there's no way he could beat Batman. he's just too tactical to let iron man win. he devised a way to destroy all the justice league members should they turn on him. so he would make a way to destroy iron man too.
