Someone from work gave it to me. :) Wasn't the ending awesome?! The way it was executed was just so beautiful.

Yeah, the film had a really distinct visual style. The whole thing with the gender confusion of Eli was done very well and it really showed that the relationship between the two characters didnt need to be sexual at all, they are two sides of the same character in a way. I hope this film gets nominated for an oscar this year, it deserves it. Best vampire film I have seen since Shadow of the vampire. Unfortunatly I doubt they will put the gender story in the remake, the director of the remake is the same guy who directed Cloverfield:(

Omg I know -- lets not even talk about the remake. Just the idea is already butchering the masterpiece that this one is.

Here is a really good interview with the director, I am really interested in seeing what he does next. Why the director of cloverfield was chosen to direct a beautiful film like this is a bit odd though.

I haven't seen much from this year, so my range of choice is very limited: The Dark Knight or Flight of the Red Balloon (I don't think this one even came out in '08 ).

Dark Knight was a really good film, but not the best of the year imo. I would give it an 8.5, maybe a 9.

Yeah, those look promising as well. Speaking of The Wrestler, I need to see The Fountain... I've seen Pi and Requiem for A Dream and they were great.

Since I've only seen a handful of movies, I'll have to go with The Dark Knight and Burn After Reading.  They're probably the only two worth mentioning that I've actually seen this year, although I really don't think TDK deserves the title.  I really want to watch "Let the Right One In".

I dont know if it is getting a wider release, I doubt it. Worth tracking down though.

Indeed, I'm going to try my best to find it. I don't think it ever came out where I live. I tried to look for it but could never find it in any of the local theaters. Anywho, did you know that someone in the US is already planning to do a remake of it, slated to come out in 2010? Nothing on there yet, but it's on imdb.
