With Episodes VII, VIII and IX of Star Wars having been officially announced, and with Episode VII slated for 2015, who do you think would be the best director for the new trilogy?

I know it's unlikely, but my top choices would be Joss Whedon, JJ Abrams, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson and David Yates. Possibly Neill Blomkamp, Brad Bird or Steven Spielberg. Anyone agree/disagree or have choices of their own?

Would love to see Jackson so an Old Republic Trilogy. Quentin Tarantino would be sweet too.

NOT Nolan, good director, but nobody wants a gritty, broody and emo Star Wars and his fanboys are the most detestable cvnts on the internet, far worse than SOny fanboys

Quentin Tarentino obviously :P

Honestly though I like the idea of JJ Abrams. Perhaps Gore Verbinski, I feel like Star Wars, much like Pirates, has a huge adventure element to it that Gore certainly excelled at.

no to Zack Snyder, Star Wars does not need a 30+ minute monologue in monotone by a naked blue alien.

I'm not buying all the Joss Weeden love. I don't think he'd establish the kind of tone I'd want a Star Wars film to have.

I'm with you. The Golden Army had a style I would want the new SW to emulate.

I would also enjoy seeing David Yates get a shot. As long as they get someone who loves the franchise and wants to do well by it. Not someone taking the money and doing a half assed job.

Given his work for the sci-fi genre he seems like the kind of guy who could do Star Wars some well deserved justice.

This is why I think Duncan Jones has potential. Moon was a great film.
