I'd like to see a director like Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, or heck, even Clint Eastwood tackle the grittier aspects of the Star Wars universe, kind of like what that upcoming game Star Wars 1610 is supposed to be doing. How about a movie focused for once on the bounty hunters, smugglers, and etc. of the Star Wars universe, rather than the sh*t Jedi do?

[QUOTE="MrPraline"][QUOTE="Heirren"][QUOTE="MrPraline"] Don't worry, he can still f*ck it up 25 years later.

Nothing was ever fckd up.

Greedo shooting first, for one.

Meh, that is one of the minor ones, IMO. The Jabba Palace scene was the most awful. Not only was the scene added a terrible one, but it replaced a great one. ...and then there's the dialogue additions to the bluray near the end. With Han though, I actually believe Lucas had intentions of having it be more of a draw, in the first place. First, it makes Han a cold blooded killer and a coward. First, Obi Wan, a Jedi, would never seak help from someone in this respect. Second, establishing Han as a coward actually contradicts further scenes in the film which show that Han is an established person in the ways of courage--through dialogue and action. Lastly, the character of Han is based on a mythological path. He starts out on a shaky road, smuggling, being up to no good a lot of the times. He's punished for this in Empire by ways of carbonite, but he is never killed throughout the series. Had he been killed off in Jedi, then the shooting first would make more sense. ...as far as the prequels? There fckng incredible. Even before they arrived Lucas had said people wouldn't understand them as films, and he was right. What happens is that people become accustomed to modern Hollywood style acting. Star Wars was never rooted in that. Lucas' original source of inspiration doesn't even come from Film OR Tv--it comes from him literally putting his head next to a radio to listen>to serial dramas.

Leave Star Wars with George Lucas. He created it. He can kill it if he wants to....Of course, Disney might beg to differ. But, Star Wars without Georgie sounds weird.

The only director I'm willing to accept is the previous one. Disney buying Lucusfilm was a travesty.

You're out of your mind. Other than DreamWorks, I can't see a better buyer than Disney. They have a big budget and very talented people working for them. Especially animators. Disney, I believe, will do a better job with Star Wars than Episode. 1-3 (4-6 is a classic)

If you bring in Brad Bird, Star Wars will be in good hands. Bring along Andrew Stanton, and you will have a visionary.

Kevin Smith, just so one stormtrooper can mention how many plumbers and contractors were killed on the second Death Star. Starring Jason Mewes as Han Solo and Alanis Morisette as Vader.

All those directors I suggested before were obvious jokes. Putting all jokes aside, I actually agree that Brad Bird would be a great choice. I like his stuff. He's good at creating epics in short spaces.

But long epics are better than short epics.

I don't think it would fit. Star Wars movies were modeled after serial epics, and thus have never been long sittings for a single movie. Their scope might be vast, but the events are heavily encapsulated. It would be a bit lopsided to suddenly have a 4 hour Star Wars episode after having the regular sized segments.

I love Peter Jackson. Hell, I'm glad he took a relatively short story like The Hobbit and turned into three epics. I just don't think that tact will work for something like Star Wars. It would remove the serial charm of it all.

Christopher Nolan.

With Christian Bale as a Jedi, and when he's really young his parents are murdered, so he becomes The Dark Jedi Knight, He would also hate blasters because his parents were murdered by one, but he wouldn't use a lightsaber either because it would be the signature weapon of the man who trained, played by Liam Neeson.

Pretty original, AMIRITE?

Yeah, star wars without george sounds weird. That's why the best films had the least of him.

... I honestly hope the episodes are not direct sequels of the series.. And have it take a few hundred years later involving a whole new caste of characters.. Inless they make a cgi movie, the actors are all too old and I don't think casting new actors for the characters would be a very good idea.

Lol you lost me at "Dark Jedi Knight," and I'm a diehard fan of both universes.

I would say the best bet is J.J Abrams. Joss Whedon, Christopher Nolan, Guillermo del Tora are all great directors but I don't think they fit the tone of Star Wars.

They could be direct sequels, based a few decades after the original trilogy, when Luke, Leia, Han and Lando are all caught up in the politics of the new empire. Hamill, Fisher, Ford and Williams would be about the right ages for that. Probably won't be what happens, but it could, and that'd be awesome.
