Each part of the country has its charm.

Except for the midwest. Nothing charming about a region of the country in which "boredom" is the most common cause of death.

gameguy6700
Hey, there's plenty of charm here in the Midwest! There are all sorts of cute little towns and nice wildlife. :( Okay, so it's not thrilling, but it doesn't lack charm.

I'd go for Texas or Virginia, but none of the poll options fit either of them. :?

I haven't visited much of the East, so the Western region is my favorite. I abhor the Midwest; you can actually die from boredom there, at least in my experience. >_>

Ummmm, where's northwest? Guess I have to go with West, but the Northwest is definitely better than somewhere like California, or Utah and stuff. For that matter, where is southwest?

Which part of America do you prefer? I think I prefer the East coast. It is colder but I prefer the cities like Boston to Los Angeles. Though some West coast cities are nice like Portland, and San Francisco. Its tough since each coast has it's ups and downs. Also is Minneapolis on the West coast or mid west? If it's west then I am tempted to say the West.

Film-Guy
Minneapolis is Midwest. I really like Minnesota because they're not all 'hicks' but it's not too crowded. Although if I had the cash I'd move to Seattle or LA

America's hat :)

I'll go with the West. Here in the South, many areas lack a true middle class and there is a well defined line between the haves and have-nots...oh and many of the elected officials suck.

Make a serious argument for California being part of the southern region rather than the Western. It holds the largest amount of Western coast line in the contiguous states. The "southern" part of California is one of it's most liberal parts (which definitely suggests it isn't southern considering how much of the south is conservative). And you definitely don't find the "southern" accent nearly as much in California as you do in the rest of the south.

Given the diversity of MOST sates, there is only one correct answer... Geography California, for example, is in the South Western region of the US. There is no other means that would correctly identify MOST states (given their makeup)

My default answer is the South but that is because I haven't been able to spend much time outside of it. However, I'd love to one day stay in the Northeast for a lengthy period of time (several months for an internship perhaps). I'm heavily considering moving to the Northeast to start a church, but I hate to make that kind of decision without spending some more time there first.

A very small part of it does. Bordering with Mexico isn't a criteria for being a southern state. You never hear Arizona and New Mexico being call southern states. And it also consists of most of the area known as the "west coast".

The US is too large to label any state with only one 'direction' California stretches farther South than Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina...all very 'southern' states -there is no way one could accurately describe the location of any state with just one 'direction' The only reason California is labeled as West is because of expansion and the Gold Rush Furthermore, most places (in the US) are too diverse to use other means for labeling (politics, etc.) -hell Texas had a Democrat for Governor not too long ago

So you acknowledge it's west? Its western border is so much larger than it's southern border (see map). It is generally accepted that California is part of the Western region, not South Western nor Southern.

I never said it wasn't west... I just said that it is NOT ONLY West. West is half correct. The side with the longest border matters not. Hypothetical: If North Dakota had a huge southern border (compared to its northern one), would you say it was a southern sate....no, of course not
