And it is only the Democrats talking about a balanced approach in raising taxes and cutting spending, but OH NO, raising taxes on millionaires is class warfare, while cutting programs to help the poor, injured, and elderly is smart economics EntropyWins

I don't see what this has to do with me and LJ's conversation. I don't want a balanced approach and class warfare from Democrats.

So what exactly have Republicans been doing to promote job creation?GreySeal9

Recently: Demanded Obama send them the trade agreements that have been sitting on his desk. They've been sitting on his desk as he lambasted Republicans for not doing enough to create jobs when they've been ASKING him for these agreements for months?

Boehner put out a jobs plan in September.

And almost every single one of the Republican candidates for President have a jobs plan out.

We already saw how great the stimulus was at creating jobs, and Obama is asking for a mini-version right now. It seems pretty clear who has the best interests of the country at heart right now. At least concerning economics.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Republican policies have vastly increased spending which will sooner or later effect your paycheck.EntropyWins

So have Democrats. Now I see Republican candidates as the only ones talking about cutting spending.

cutting spending, however you want to spin it is cutting spending. there are two ways to increase profits, or get closer to break even in the governments case, cut spending or increase revenue. the government is already geting its historical norm for revenues ~18% GDP, they have only exceeded this number by over over one percent for the two months prior to the dot com bubble bursting. this is a historical norm post WW2, no mater the tax rates. they cant increase revenues to GDP if history can teach us anything about the US governments revenue collection. so the only real option left is to cut, i dont care where things are cut from as long as we can defend our self against attack (not a huge threat ATM) and the government stops deferred taxing me (deficit spending) i am happy.

TL;DR more taxing wont work and cut where ever and whateveras needed to stop the system they broke.

@ airshocker: Look again at that quote. Did he mention the country anywhere? No? Well I guess that means that all they care about is destroying obama. Not that this is shocking news to anybody since the republicans have shown that they will actually destroy America politically and economically to try and ruin him. Hopefully Americans see past this bs.

airshocker

You going to answer my question at all...?

To more directly answer your question (since inference is not an option here apparently): NO. They can WANT Obama to fail and America to succeed at the same time, but they can't FOCUS on both at the same time. They are obviously focusing on the former at the expense of the latter.

I do prefer simple answers as opposed to inference most of the time. Saves me the trouble of having to cock my head and ask you again.

I disagree with you. I don't think a party is purposefully trying to make the country fail just because they disagree with you. I disagree with Democrats 90% of the time and I don't think they're trying to make the country fail. Turn us into a welfare state like Europe and take away our freedoms, perhaps, but not destroy us.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

EntropyWins

i closed up shop and got a new job when that bill was passed, so whatever the republicans intent or drive it would have helped me and those i let go if it were not passed.

@surreal: lol @ blaming your business failure on Obama's healthcare. I see a lot of businesses everywhere despite its passage, so maybe you couldn't run a business very well?

my business was never not profitable but when being an owner the question is " are these profits worth my time" and between new IRS fees levied that year and obama care i just said screw it i can make more than i am for someone else and not have to deal with this. so i wound down all but two contracts that end next year. my business never failed unlike your assumption. do you even have the smallest clew of what individual owners of small firms need to put up with? or have you been spending your entire life demonizing them that you cant see the importance of small businesses?

IF Romney wins the primary the democrat opposition is going to effectively illustrate that he is a flip flopper.. Romney to compete within his own party has done a complete 180 in numerous wedge issue policies.

Running a business is hard work. I just bought into my current group and its like a whole new world. Labor, materials, rent, etc. end up costing most of the revenue we make. It is surpisingly expensive to hire even one person with all the hidden costs in it. You also have to go through all types of hoops to get rid of a bad employee - proper documentation, etc. otherwise they can just sue you for unlawful termination despite them not showing up to work half the time because they are hung over.

Still, I'd rather have Romeny than any of the other republican candidates except for maybe Huntsman. Romney may talk out of both sides of his mouth to get elected, but what politician doesn't? As long as he has the brains, common sense, and moderation to get things done, I'm ok with him.

If Huntsman were to get the nom (as will never, ever happen), he might actually get my vote in the general. I must be old; there's a Republican candidate I'd seriously considee.

Well I am not talking about the typical double talk, but serious changes.. Like supporting and upholding Roe V Wade, then suddenly coming out saying that he will try torepeal it when he is elected.. The fact of the matter is he has had to deal with a extreme right wing that quite frankly has hijacked the party.. And I honestly don't know any more, Romney maybe a good politician but in the end he still has to deal with the Republican party.. And based upon Obama which is already extreme centrist to a extreme right wing, I see him only bending even further backwards..

That would be a shame. I like Romney because he hasnt been an extreme right winger in the past, but if he's just going to cave to that, then I'd not want him as president.

That was a rebuttal. It wasn't an argument, however, since I'm entirely too tired to do that with you at the moment.

Excuse.....attempt to lessen the blame attaching to (a fault or offense); seek to defend or justify: Reason...a cause, explanation, or justification for an action or event: Oxford Dictionary.

I dislike his views on both. I would not trust him as far as national security is concerned.
