Michael Jackson is undoubtedly one of the greatest American Icons that will ever be. Like him or not, his music will live on for decades to come. He had some great records, some songs I liked, some I didn't...but we cannot deny he sold albums and sold tickets in seconds. A record breaking icon is passed away, I hope he meets Farrah Fawcett and they both live in peace in the afterlife.

Atleast his talent will be saved for prosperity, and thats what really matters for me. After all, that was his passion, and it became the passion of millions around the world. Not many can claim to have affected the world in the same manner or form. rest in peace =)

I don't get why we can't be "disrespectful" of someone who has harmed children the way he has. The fact that there is an honorarium for a pedophile is sickening, the fact that you are threatening people with "warnings" or "bannings" to protect said honorarium is beyond sick.

So, what you're saying is, child molestation is cool, as long as you've famous, and die?

Andrew_Xavier
As much as I would love agree with you, he was found inncocent, however opinions have been made.

He bought testimony, multiple times. He was also found to be sleeping in the same bed as children many times, his fame got him off, and now his fame clears him of responsibility just because he died?

I'm pretty dam sure fame had something to do with it, however it could of affected the jury. Maybe there was someone on the jury who hated MJ so reguardless of the evidence they wanted MJ to go down.

Nothing of the sort. We're not delivering an Al Sharpton-like speech here... we're just saying save it for later. The fact that he's dead doesn't have anything to do with the crimes. Like it or not, he did do great things along with the horrible. If you're going to be purely negative, post somewhere else for now.

[QUOTE="Andrew_Xavier"] Perhaps, maybe it's just the sheer number of honorariums going around for him that are bothering me. I just think we should honor people for what they did in life, and condemn them *even in death* if what they did in life was awful.

But, you know, he was also a performer and an icon... what about that?

People were expressing their opinions on MJ's accusations you found disrespectful, so you locked the topic...Do we get moderated for doing that? Sharing our opinions on a court case? If someone said OJ was guilty, should they get moderated? If there was more than that then I apologize.Anyways...

MJ was one of the most amazing performers I have ever seen. He will be missed. RIP Michael Jackson.

I say to be respectful because it's the right thing to do right now--being respectful can come in many shape and sizes. You can stay silent and keep your comments to yourself that could be taken as disrespectful. There is no need to be disrespectful or ill towards the dead. It's not the time right now. Don't even go into the whole thing "well he was a pedophile, I'm going to be disrespectful because of it." I am obviously not for it, but it is not right to be disrespectful towards someone's death.

And I would agree with you, if it was ever proved. But it wasn't, so I can't condemn him for something that I simply don't know. Besides, we aren't asking everybody to change their opinions, just don't be disrespectful about his death.

Just shut up already, he's dead, are you happy?

Whoa dude, chill out. He's just a celebrity. But hey, if I had a nightmare when I was little I'd crawl in to bed with my parents. Would THEY be considered pedophiles if that happened?

In fact, I'm more than willing to get banned if it means not supporting a pedophile who actually HARMED children, and used his fame to allow himself into positions inwhich he could avail himself the opportunities.

He never molested children. Period.

If you've never listened to one of MJ's songs very loud, I recommend it. It's great. :)

Is it just me who finds "R.I.P." extremely inappropriate? I swear nobody better say that at my funeral.

It's unfortunate, and he hasn't exactly lived a charmed life, but at least he wont get old which I sense he always feared more than your average person for some reason.

As I said in the other thread, while I might not have been a fan, he did have plenty of catchy songs I enjoyed listening to.

Not to mention his influence on the world of music has been incredibly significant.

Plus Moonwalker was an awesome game :)
