[QUOTE="im_really_rich"][QUOTE="DivergeUnify"] 4 pull ups is really weak :PDivergeUnify

i usually do pullups from a dead hang, which means my arms are fully extended when i do them.

i actually work out and my biceps aren't bad. pullups have always been hard.

i can sure as hell run though.

Yeah, I do pullups like that to :P My biceps are quite big considering my size, but my legs, tris and overall stamina are meh

My triceps are alright. I'm in a weight-lifting class and I've been toning up my tris.

I'm not so much about brute strength as I am about overall composure, if that makes sense.

When the three mile run would begin, I'd just haul ass to Canada. I'm guessing that would disqualify me, so no, I'd fail.

Nope. In my school we're trying to reach the Coast Guard Academy's standards, which are 60 push ups by cadence, 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and a 1.5 mile run under 8:00. That's for guys.

My PFT is around a 260. Crunches are easy, but I never could get the 20 pullups. Fastest run time was 19:35.

You cited the stop score. A passing score is significantly lower than that. I'm pretty sure you only have to to do 3 pullups to pass. It isn't hard to get in.

Yeah, perfectly. I was in shape when I was on wrestling earlier this school year, but ever since it ended I've been dreading looking in the mirror :P

[QUOTE="-Apathy-"][QUOTE="Dr_Brocoli"]THats for Marines not the army, i can pass that easy:)freshgman
So you're saying that Marine training is tougher than the Army? Pfft.

all branches of the military are equally hard.

Different branches of the military are.....different. Marine Corps is a lot more physical work than the Army (infantry-wise. Don't really know too much else).

I could probably do 10 pullups, all the situps I think, and I think I could get at least under 20 minutes for the 3 mile, maybe even close to 19.

About a year ago I was at the peak of physical fitness, so I probably could have pulled that off. Not sure about now.

I couldn't even score 1/5th of that. Besides doesn't the Marines have a height requirement? I think I read that somewhere. If so I'd probably fail that anyway. :P

in my prime I could get close to that. the most pull ups I did was 16 in football, crunches are the easiest for me, running the 3 miles under 18 minutes would be the hardest part for me because i'm more of a sprinter rather then long distance runner. If I trained hard enough though I think I could make it

Im in the marine corps delayed entry program and i do the test every month. What you posted is what it takes to get the top score on it, the only people that need to do that are the ones that want to go for Force Recon (some badass stuff lol). In order to go to boot camp you just have to do a minimum of 3 pull-ups, 42 crunches in 2 minutes, and 3 miles in 26 minutes which is all very easy. Obviously you would still be considered very out of shape by USMC standards if you could only do the minimum, but when you are done with boot camp you will be doing a lot better in each of those fields. I do 11 pullups, 80 crunches, and run 3 miles in 21 minutes, and for a recruit thats not too bad.

I can do the first one.

I can do the second one very easily

I never timed myself for a 3 mile run so I don't know.

20 pull ups and 100 crunches in 2 minutes is pretty easy, I have horrible endurance though so I'd fail hard on the jog :(

The Marine Corps only takes the finest.monkeytoes61

Is that why 11 out of the 15 marines I know personally have all been tossed in jail?

Im not saying thats a bad thing; I just dont know if I want the "finest" defending my country. I want bloodthirsty badass mother ******* that get in trouble when theyre not killing lol.

Just so you guys know, if you click on the link, you have to do 3 pull-ups, no time limit, run 3 miles in 28 minutes and do 50 crunches in less than two minutes. Almost anyone could easily pass that. :)

the 3 miles in 18 minutes I can do. It's hard though. I can't do 20 pull-ups and 100 crunches in 2 minutes...I can do 100 crunches in under 2 minutes but I can't even do 20 pull-ups...I'd fail.

Holy crap, that is some serious pain.

Just another reason why I respect the Marines so much. These men/woman are awesomely trained killing machines.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for them.

danjammer69

From my experience with Marines/Ex-Marines, the ones I've met where shallow, egotistic, know-it-alls who always thought they were better than you and found it necessary to push others around for their own personal enjoyment.

But those are the ones I met, maybe I met a couple bad apples. Who knows. Regardless, my image of the Marines has been tarnished and until I met a Marine that is anything other than what I mention above, it will stay like that.

Also: No, I can't do those requirements and I will never even bother trying to get to that level.
