Sorry if this has been posted already... I'm not gonna post a link with the footage in case that's not allowed, you can look it up on google. Here's an article about it:

Just a heads-up: It's fine to talk about this but footage of the video itself IS NOT ALLOWED. Anyone linking to it--or telling people where or how to find it-- risks a suspension, and we'd rather not have to do that to anyone.

Very unfortunate, they should have known better. But to be fair, the odds of a chase suicide happening are pretty slim.

Why? And does that apply to anything like the Budd Dwyer suicide or the Vietnam execution photo?
The Fox News video is just helicopter footage.
[QUOTE="bobaban"]I've been looking for the video but can't find one where they actually show him shoot himself. I want to see this uncensored. Stesilaus
You may be sorry if you do find it.
Remember: What has been seen cannot be unseen.
I saw it. My friend showed me a much worse video where a guy shot himself in the head and blood was gushing out, the vid was up close.[QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"]can i pm it? It's still considered graphic under the ToU. It's not that hard to find; I stumbled across it someplace else and I wasn't even actively looking for it. Regardless, it's not allowed to be posted, and we rather not have to suspend someone for something that is easily avoided to begin with. So, for those whose curioristy will always get the best of them.. it's out there. Looks like the youtube vids have already been blocked, but you can find it a couple seconds with a google search. It's not gruesome though. I mean, it's heavy.. mentally, but just because you know what it is, the video is from far away, and you don't see any blood or anything. Hell, you can't even really tell there's a gun in his hand. Just looks like he points at his head then falls down. Unless there's another shot, different from the one I just found.
I saw the video but it was helicopter view so could barely see he had a gun. There are far worse videos out there. Bud Dwyer a politician committed suicide on live tv and it was up close footage, and my friend watched one of the beheading videos. He said the sword was half way through the neck and the guy was still screaming.
I watched the chase and then saw this happen live. As soon as he got out of the car Shep started saying he had a bad feeling and I think he was signaling the guys in the studio to get ready and cut the feed, but obviously that didn't happen. The internet hasdesensitized me to this kind of stuff. so it wasn't really much of a shock or anything.
Someone on the production team at Fox News should probably be fired. Shepard Smith handled it as well as he could've, though. JML897Part of me thinks that they may have aired it for ratings. It's difficult for me to believe that someone happened to be asleep at the switch, especially since a lot of broadcast networks have delayed feeds to prevent something like this from going public. But then again, who knows...
I was watching the chase live and then turned off the tv. Thirty minutes later I heard about the suicide and realized it was the same car in the video. All he did was steal a car, I wonder why he felt that he had to kill himself?
So they're apologizing for broadcasting the truth of the situation?markop2003
Because YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
I don't see what's the problem. I saw the video and it wasn't very graphic at all (no blood or anything).
I'm sure most people watching a car chase aren't going to be too surprised when something violent happens. I wonder if he did it to avoid the jail time or if he set up the car chase to get his suicide on TV. Ace6301
Attention whore til the end.

How do I PM you, with your profile set to private? is there a different button for it? I've always just used the "message me" button in people's profiles.
Watched it and its pretty damn tame compared to what dark shÃt is out there on the internet. Better him than him running or gunning down some innocent or police officer.
I wonder what was going through his head before the bullet did. Must've not been able to do the time I guess.
I found it too. The miracles of google. And yeah, it wasn't horrible at all.....Watched it and its pretty damn tame compared to what dark shÃt is out there on the internet. Better him than him running or gunning down some innocent or police officer.

Saw it. It was disturbing but can't really blame Fox News for what happened. Who can predict the future with live footage?
Anywhoo, why do they air live speed chases? There isn't much news to it unless it's part of something bigger.

People are always drawn to them. If I'm flipping through channels and I just see Shep Smith talking I'll probably change the channel, but if I'm flipping through channels and see a live car chase I'll watch it.

But Shep Smith is cool.I agree
But if I'm just looking for something to entertain me, car chase > Shep Smith talking about the election (or whatever)
I was watching the video without the sound and his face made me laugh. :)
Get off, get off, get off, get off, get off it!

I wonder if he did it to avoid the jail time or if he set up the car chase to get his suicide on TV. Ace6301It's kind of funny how if he'd smashed into another car at 60mph and the cars had freaking exploded into pieces they wouldn't have cut, but this is just far too graphic. To me that was much less graphic, in car collisions I can always picture what sort of damage is on the inside and that's much more disturbing in my eyes.
