That's what he said in his letter.

well keep up the good work, your Eminence. Let's keep fighting the culture wars until the Culture of Life triumphs over the Culture of Death, And in this election, Obama has allied himself to Planned Parenthood, thus he is on the Dark Side, and thus Christians must oppose him.

Stop making threads

Making abortion/religion threads on a gaming site where the average population is a) under the age of 18 and rebelling against society by taking all views that don't agree with the "norm" b) think that a gaming site is a good place to have stimulating philosophical discussion because of their distinct lack of real life friends to converse with is an instant fail.

1) How does not being American come into play?

2) Any time you have a position of authority over young people, you will have people who take advantage of it. There are just as high of percents of molesters in day cares, Baptist churches, Mormon churches, Jewish Synogogues.....etc. It's human nature to take advantage of the weak for your own personal gains. Whether or not that is moral - well according to some people on this site, there is no such thing as morals - that is pretty sick. God did not tell them to do it, human evil did it. So blaming a Cardianl for all the priests and people who have molested children just shows your complete ignorance

I fail to see ownage. Mayhaps you need to understand a husband running off on his wife and kids is vastly different than abortion. That in any semi-healthy relationship, the guy will have a strong hand in the matter of whether to keep a child or have an abortion.

what about the Churches involvement in hiding and ignoring the knowledge of these child molesting priests? they cared more about protecting their image than protecting those kids.

Even if they're not married, the guy will have a strong say in the matter.

Girls have abortions in the cases of accidental drunken sex, one night stands, rape, etc. more than they do within relationships.

I've never met a girl who wouldn't be willing to seriously discuss the matter if they were in a relationship.

If a guy and girl are in a relationship, the guy would obviously care about the woman, and the potential child. He would have a say, even if he doesn't have any say legally.

If a guy and girl aren't in a relationship, he likely doesn't care about the woman or the child, so he wouldn't have a say and probably shouldn't have a say.

It's not perfect, but even if it was a 50%-50% split decision, what would happen then? Tie goes to the woman, because she's at risk of spending 9 months, hundreds or thousands of excess money, having to take unpaid leave from work, and raising the kid herself.

Like, I said, it's not perfect, but it protects women from deadbeats who would take off at any risk of committment, and from rapists having a say in their pregnancies.

the guy has rights because its his sperm that impregnated the woman in the first place. truth is this no parent feels confortable talking to there kids about sex no matter what parent it is. the reason why alot of abortions happen is because of incest, rape, molestation, one night stands. now if a woman was knocked up without letting the father know then thats a tough call

No one is pro abortion.. Many people including my self think its the womans and doctors business alone.. I think its incrediably tyrannical that I should have some say in what a woman does to her body. Its my beliefs and I think I should not impose it on other person beliefs.. Further more Obama is against abortion, he just believes its the womans liberty to decide, and sees it far more important then his personal beliefs.

Furthermore this cardinal is freaking stupid.. Regardless of how evil he thinks abortion is.. Its not Nazism.. Nazism is fascism, abortion has nothing to do with fascism what so ever.

thats exactly true. like i stated before how can you ban something when its gona be there legal or not? same as gays not having rights since when does sexual orientation become such a threat to the world? im not gay but seriously saying woman have no rights or gays have no rights kinda reminds me of the civil rights movement back in the 60's. religioun is the cause of alot of things in this world what ever religioun anyone believes in.

Did the guy get her pregnant? Sure. I completely understand it takes two to tango, but I've heard so many "veto" stances (that if either partner wants to keep the child, then the other's decision to abort is vetoed) to make my head spin. The fact is that in most any healthy relationship, both partners will talk it out and come to a conclusion. That's how relationships work. If the guy cares about the girl and it's reciprocal, he has a say about the possible child. If he doesn't care about the girl, he has no say in the matter, because it's a one-sided mindset.

As you said, the vast amount of abortions are from incest, rape/molestation, one night stands, etc. and in general people in a relationship are far less likely to. People in poverty-stricken areas where abortion rates are much higher aren't being educated well enough, and even if they are, there's not enough services to be provided. People might decide they want to keep the child, but that it's not feasible to due to a complete lack of day-care, a partner producing a second means of income, terrible US maternity/paternity leave standards, etc.
If it's going to ruin the livelihood of the parent(s) and significantly reduce the chances of the potential child having even a mediocre life, then some feel pushed towards abortion whether it's right or not. It's not an easy decision to make.

I disagree.

Agreed.

I respectfully disagree with your agreeing. In fact I probably agree with the agree more than the disagrees, even if they aren't all agreeing

Given that Cardinal Egan already invoked Godwin's Law in his opening statements, I think he's set a new record for "shortest time to lose an argument".

This is a cover, something to hide behind so moderate pro-choicers do not appear anti-women or like a religious nut but they also do not seem cavalier about human life and abortion, or traditional values.

If it's unprovable, by your own admission, then how do you know it's true?

Strawman; I never said it was unprovable.

I never said it was. It's anti-man. Moderate pro-choicers, however, are viewed as anti-woman by the more hardcore pro-choicers who think pro-life = sexism.
