Of course, we're actually following the Bible. Catholics invented their own one.

Forerunner-117

Ignorant much? Catholicism is the only "Christian" religion that can actually trace its roots all the way back to Jesus. Jesus said to Peter, "You are the rock on which I will build my Church." With that, Peter established Catholicism (which back then was just known as 'Christianity') and became the first Pope. Protestants, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses etc. None of them can truthfully say that they are directly linked to Jesus.

Thus it is actually the modern-day "Christians" being hypocritical when it comes to the matter of following the Bible.

What about non-denominationalism (probably not a word), which is what they followed while Jesus was alive?:|

No, it proves that Catholicism is BS, not christianity. Catholicism is very different to christianity. A lot of their practices directly contradict the bible.

Maybe that's why they base their entire religion around it.

What?

He said a lot of catholic practices contradict the bible, I suggested that that is perhaps the reason that the catholic church bases their entire religion around it.

Yes, around it, not on it. They use the name of God falsely to benefit their own means.

Who is this "they"? The last time I checked the Catholic church is low on priests and money.

EDIT: Clarification. The US Catholic Church, I'm sure The Vatican has plenty of funding.

Most of those are good sin to remind people about except the fact the news put them under 7 deadly sins. That is bull they just reminded people that they were mortal sins.

I think the polluting one isn't driving cars and crap like that put throwing trash whereeve, stuff like that.

And when they say genetic engineering they mean no cloning humans thats it. You can genetically engineere genes and stuff as long as you not creating or destroying a human being in the process.

And they've always been sins, the church just reminded people of them (all but the pollution on of course I haven't heard that one before.)

I think those are just there own point of views and what they think of the catholic church. If they were to do so then it would be wrong because it changes the basic beliefs of catholocism.

Non-denominational christian religions did not exist until late in the 1300's or so. The first non-catholic "christian" church was the eastern orthodox in the 1054. Then The lutheran many years later. Catholicism was the only christian religion for 1000 years.

While Jesus was still alive they were Jewish.:| After He died....the apostles preached His church...which became known as the Catholic Church...and none of this is particularly new. But you're all looking on the superficial level and missed the point.

Those sins contradict absolutely everything and it is impossible to live like that.. I mean if some of you think science is a sin, you would turn down life saving medicines, transport, computers, television? I think not.

EDIT: Cows sin! They account for one 3rd of the planets methane emittions...Gonna be alot of cows in hell, I feel sorry for anyone with wind.

Just to remind you the catholic church in the United States is the only Church that has an increasing percentage as number of people that are catholic. All other christian churches are shrinking. That is why there are a lack of priests because more people come than priests can be trained.

As I said when they say pollution they mean purpously dumping trash places, not caring what happens to your wastes ect. Stuff we should be doing anyways.

Clearly at the bottom of each article on the vaticans website it says "Hi I'm Jesus and I approve of this message" Marks 6:14

EDIT: Wait, I forgot that there are some people who will take me seriously.

I'm fully aware of that. I have plans to go into the seminary after I graduate from high school next year. Priests have to be taught and trained for 8 years. The demand for priests cannot be met. This is why there is a so called "decline" in catholic priests.

I just heard this on the Radio. They can't just make up new sins can they? :?

Some of them were pedophilia, polluting(wtf?) and being extremely rich. Which pretty much means the pope will rot in hell seeing as how insanely rich the church is.

It's not that being rich is bad, Bill Gates is not sinning. He does something productive with his money and gives it to the poor shares it. They say If you are a person who hoards all your money and uses it for things that are not needed at all. Just random crap because you can have it. And you don't share any of it.

Really? I was thinking it was taught by society. If morality was truely dependent on religion, the stereotype of the immoral, sex havin', gun totin', swearing and idiotic Atheist would be a rampant one (and one that exists outside of hypotheticals).

Well if it helps people not commit those evil deeds then i guess adding them to the mortal sin list is a good thing.

They've always been sins, but i guess this helps put them into perspective for the people of today.

Frattracide

How is genetic engineering a sin? Even if god was real he gave my brains to evolve so we can do these things why would be not want us to find cures for cancer, aids and other horrible things?

Because there playing god for starters, but science goes against Christianity, science is the byproduct of lust, vanity and rebellion.

Now this is the part where you call me crazy, but if you truly think about the origins of science, and how they fit in with Christianity, then i think you'll see that science, all science,is a byproduct of sin.

We were given the brains to unlock these things. We didn't just get them dumped in our lap we spend hundreds and thousands of years learning and growing to get where we are with science today. Why can't we use whats been given to us? Why can't we use our abilities to save millions and millions of people? Billions even over enough time.

Is its god's right to order to us to stop saving these people from cancer, aids and more?

But your missing the point, god didn't give us freewill so that we would use it for our own vain purposes.Yes science can heal illnesses, but at what price is that secret unlocked? You think you heal the problems of the world by using science, but you only make it worse. What better example of this is there than the global warming fiasco?

According to science,40 years (Link) from now billions will die as a result of global warming, which is ultimately a result of science. Now you can call that incredibly ironic or a work of god. It's ultimately science that is going to turn a good part of this world into a burning desert, now what do you think of science?Science is the very pillar of sin.

Can I ask you a question? A serious question? What do you think of those who are religious that view science as a way to understand God's design of everything?

Well that's a lust for knowledge, which the the origin of sin itself.

So we should be willfully ignorant of everything around us?

Ignorant/innocence>lust.

ignorance=slavery.

ignorance = strength, freedom = slavery, War = peace
