I think people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I believe the Vatican is just trying to bring these problems to forefront of the world, and make us aware that we are hurting humanity. Isn't that what most religions teach? To treat all of God's creations with respect. These are some serious problems we face in our world today, and I don't see any problem with the Catholic Church trying to make us aware of them.

If the Bible says that Gods eye is on the sparrow, wouldn't God be opposed to air polution? I mean shouldn't all religions agree that air polution and drug adiction are sinful? And the obscenely rich part could easily be tied back to Greed which is one of the seven deadly sins. I mean being rich in itself it not a sin, but when you don't at least use some of that money to help others, then that is a sin. peaceful_anger

In Catholicism's defense there are things in scripture that back what they do.

Theres also other stuff that contradicts NOT THE FAITH, but the higher ups.

And for someone that said "Christianity" and Catholicism aren't the same thing, and talking about how the Catholic Church believes in all these doctrines. Your right, BUT, to be fair Protestants have things like the Purpose Driven Life/Church/etc, books by Charles Stanely, Joel Osteen, etc, etc, that you guys take as seriously as us Catholics take the Pope's word.

I assume by teachings, you mean anything on morality in the Bible. I'm sure that the people who wrote that made it broad enough that you could interpret it to fit into modern terms. Jon Stewart did something on it when the Vatican gave us driving morality rules.

It's getting late over here and im tired. Im going to end with this. When I say these sins are stupid, im generelizing. There are a couple that should be there, but most shouldn't. Forcing rules on people and telling them they are going to hell if they don't follow them is wrong. Like pollution. My friends car does 17 MPG. Does that mean he's going to hell?

I know people who are rich but have worked hard, very hard for it. Does that mean they are going to hell?

A friend of mine is on birth control, does that mean shes going to hell?

This one fits in with "Morally dubious'' experiments such as stem cell research. My friend, who I wont disclose her name, her dad found out 2 weeks ago he had cancer and scientist around the world are looking for a cure for said cancer. Does that mean those scientist are going to hell?
